Vicarage Court Care Home is a multi award winning nursing home, located in the scenic surroundings of the Yorkshire countryside, near Pontefract Racecourse. A qualified nursing team provide personalised care including for specialist conditions such as residential dementia, general nursing, elderly residential and young persons physical disability. They can cater for specialist care packages to suit complex resident needs.

Established for 30 years, it has new state of the art facilities with the team boasting many years of experience in management of long-term care needs. There are 10 lounges, a courtyard, balcony areas and two acres of gardens for residents to enjoy.

In 2021, HealthWatch awarded the home the "Putting People First" award. This was for the team's response to COVID crisis and not losing any residents to COVID. In 2020, they won at the British Care Awards. Previous to that they own "Employer of the Year" (2014) from Wakefield College.

Day care and respite care are available. A versatile range of bedrooms can suit individuals with differing needs, while there is a choice of comfortable living areas and a sun lounge. Large luxury apartments for couples or individual residents are available.

My mum has been a resident at Vicarage Court for the past 4 years. I cannot fault any of the care or facilities here. During the last few weeks of her life, she was treated with kindness and dignity and on her final breath, the spoke kind words and held her hand no one could wish for more.

Taking good care of Mum, who has dementia. Sending her to care was a difficult decision, to say the least, especially with the covid situation. The visitor pod is amazing, such a welcome addition and makes the world of difference.

When my mother first came into the home in 2013, she was the happiest she had been since my father past away. She was laughing, joking and made new friends. She was well cared for, and the staff were wonderful with her. I would recommend the home.

In my first visit following the COVID crisis during which I have had weekly telephone contact re the well being of my friend who is a resident at Vicarage Court, the staff facilitated my visit today ensuring all hygiene and safety measures were taken. I found my friend happy and in good spirits and
shouting excitably about how well she and all the residents have been looked after during lockdown. She reported to doing lots of activities and happy times whilst I haven't been able to see her. Thank you and well done.

Since my father has been a resident at Vicarage Court I have noted a huge improvement to his mood and social interaction with others, he joins in with the activities where he can and there is something going on nearly every day. He has told me that he feels safe here, and all the staff treat him with
dignity and respect. He likes that he has the choice to socialise with others when he wants, or he can have his own space in his room.

Absolutely fantastic from the moment someone came to the hospital to access my grandad. He was treated as a family member and us coming to see him and were overwhelmed with support and care given. Couldn't thank everyone enough. The sad day he passed away, the staff helped us through with dignity towards

Throughout mum's stay staff were always pleasant and understanding of her health issues. She was always greeted with a smile and nothing was too much trouble. They were always prompt and courteous dealing with any issues I raised.

Vicarage Court is a very pleasant building in a beautiful setting. The bedrooms are well designed with modern furniture and fittings to suit personal needs.
The caring staff are there to attend residents needs and are well trained to do so. Nothing is too much trouble.

My father spent the last four years of his life at Vicarage Court. He frequently commented on the quality of care he received and had nothing but praise for the carers. He was made to feel very welcome and the staff went out of their way to make sure he was involved in many activities. I was pleased

Aunt love living at Vicarage Court, she had her independence, but also the security of knowing help was there if needed. She particularly loved her room overlooking the garden. Aunt also loved the social side of the home, she formed a close bond with the 'activity organiser' and was in her element when
singing and dancing. As Auntie did not move far from where she had lived most of her life she was able to maintain contact with the same doctor, the local church and her old neighbours. All these factors, as well as the support from her family, made her last three years very happy.

All the staff have been pleasant, helpful and caring. I felt it was safe to leave Mum here. It was good to see the Director walking around. The activities organiser is very passionate about her role - excellent activities. Nice room and lovely gardens. The home is very clean and well maintained. If
Mum needs permanent care in the future I would like to bring her here. However, the food would need to be far more nutritious. I do not feel that piling on the calories with chips, pies, fried foods etc is in the best interests of elderly people. Chicken nuggets are not a proper meal. Expected to see more meat, fish and potatoes/veg options to create a more balanced diet. I understand this is something you are looking to improve. Otherwise a very good facility.
