My Nana has been with Sycamores on a respite basis for a few weeks now on the hope that her stay would become permanent. It's been quite the journey and quite the battle with social services to convince them that our Nana was unsafe to live back at home.
I can safely say that if it wasn't for the support and backing of the manager, Steve and the staff, we wouldn't have got as far as we did and have the situation assessed for Nana to stay, and now she's staying on a permanent basis, so not only is Nana now going to be safe and well cared for but as a family we can breath a sigh of relief knowing that she is in the best hands.
We also want to give a shoutout and thank you to their senior carer, Danny, he is one in a million and worth his weight in gold, the way he is with Nana is beautiful and she even said herself she would be lost without him. Thank you to you all for your care and support.

Here's to my Nanas next fresh and safe chapter.

Reply from Maxwell Andrews, Marketing Lead at The Sycamores

Thank you for such warm and generous words. We're delighted that the family can breathe a little easier knowing your nana is safe and settled. Danny will be especially touched by what you've said. Here's to your nana's next chapter with us at The Sycamores.

The Sycamores is a warm friendly environment to be, the staff are happy most of the time and the residents are treated with respect and dignity. The staff go above and beyond to help the residents with their needs. A well managed home and functions well, the manager has always been very approachable and willing to discuss anything that is required for my mum. Domestic staff work hard to ensure the home is well cleaned and the kitchen staff work hard to make sure all residents are fed with a good healthy diet, with a new menu for residents to choose from daily. Thank you Sycamores care team much appreciated

Reply from Maxwell Andrews, Marketing Lead at The Sycamores

Thank you for such generous feedback. It's lovely to hear the warmth of The Sycamores comes through, and that you find the manager approachable whenever you need to discuss your mum's care. We're glad the work of the domestic and kitchen teams hasn't gone unnoticed either. We'll share your thanks with everyone.

Mum is settling in well at The Sycamores. The staff are friendly and supportive to both mum and myself. Mums mattress was getting worn and I reported it. It was sorted immediately and Mum was given a new one. I find the staff accomodating and they listen to any of my concerns about mum.

Awful. My mum went into hospital severely dehydrated. Her legs were a mess. Hospital couldn't believe it. Thought she was going to die. New home now can't believe the care she gets now, how much better she looks. Not once as she asked to us throw her a window. All time in that home she said it. She's smiling all the time and speaker loads to us again. They was reported to CQC and social direct, with photos!!!

The manager and the care team at The Sycamores have helped to nurse my mum back to health after a bad fall in hospital. She stayed in the home for 9 weeks until her shoulder fully healed and she has improved a lot since she went in for respite care. By adjusting her medications and getting her appropriate medical help they helped her to get enough rest and nutrition to help her heal from her accident. The carers are lovely. I feel that maybe her clothes could have been washed more often and she could have been encouraged to do a bit more physical activity.

Mum came to The Sycamores in February 24 after a long stay in hospital due to a broken hip. This became her final home before she passed away. The care the staff gave to Mum was outstanding. They catered for her needs and even provided her with lovely home-cooked meals that were gluten-free. The staff went above and beyond in making sure Mum was comfortable and even providing an onsite hairdresser. It was lovely to see Mum smiling while she was there with the friendly sycamore team. I will miss seeing everyone now my mum is no longer there. Thank you for being there for Mum.

My mother was in the home for a short time in an assessment bed. She became very ill and died unexpectedly. My sister and I were able to be with Mum to the end. After an extended hospital stay and after many years of ill health, Mum came to The Sycamores on a respite basis. From the very start it became quickly apparent that this was a very special place, managed and staffed by an exceptional team of people who had the care, dignity and well being of the residents at the very core of their souls. My family and I will forever be indebted to the Sycamores team who treated us as well as Mum with kindness, respect and genuine care. Thank you.

Cannot fault The Sycamores at all. Mum has settled in lovely. She's safe and well looked after. The staff are amazing, very professional, and very understanding of Mum's needs. Always a smiley face when I visit. The main thing for me is "Mum loves it here and understands this is her home.". I'm involved in all her needs and the staff notify me of any changed. The food is lovely and plentiful, the home is spotless. !00% in everything in my opinion.

My great aunt was placed into The Sycamores following a short admission in hospital. Not knowing whether she would stay permanently, the staff welcomed her with such kindness, dignity and care.
Just after a short amount of time, she feels secure and safe again. She's started to become herself again, smiling and laughing.

Thank you for everything you do. Keep doing such an amazing job.

Our mum was a resident at The Sycamores from February 2024 until she sadly passed away there on the 7th of April. As a family, we have nothing but praise for the manager and his dedicated team. He made a difficult time in Mum's life and our lives easier to deal with. Nothing was too much trouble, and he would have moved mountains to get Mum anything she required. We said that the staff at The Sycamores became Mum's second family, and the love they had for Mum was there to see. It is always a worrying time when your loved one becomes a care home resident as it's the unknown and you trust people who you don't know to care for your loved one, but from day one, it was more than obvious that Mum was in good hands. Mum was treated with love, respect and dignity, and we won't ever forget the truly amazing manager and his team for caring for Mum and us.

I have to be honest, my biggest fear and that of my mother herself was for her to end up in a residential care home. It was always a case of, “God Forbid!” I must say, I am delighted with the way my mum has settled into the home. She is healthier, and happier and has fewer complaints about her welfare. It is important in our latter years that we have dignity and respect for and from the people around us. My mum is a very sweet lady, (a retired nurse), there is a role reversal now though. I am happy she is happy and the staff are pleasant and empathetic to both friends and family of the residents, accommodating a home-from-home environment as much as possible. Thank you and keep up the good work!

Sadly, my beloved godmother has died, for me, it is very important to review The Sycamores because it became my auntie's home. She was treated very well as a valued human being and despite the severe pain she was in, I saw her happy as could be, even laughing and joking to the end. This was possible because of the home she was in.
