Staff pleasant and eager to please. Nothing is too much to ask of them. The chef even came to see me to ask if everything is ok and if I had any requests.

Overall Experience
Overall, the care has been excellent. The staff are caring and friendly and welcoming to visitors (COVID excepted). The place is clean, light and airy and we can ask for anything within reason.
During COVID the home has offered Skype calls which have been very reassuring.

The only issue we have had is when my mother first went into the home, her dentures were mislaid and still not replaced.

Reply from Steven Hague, Home Manager at The Sycamores

Thank you, Robert, for your kind words. We are so pleased you are happy with the care your mother is receiving. We understand how difficult times are currently, so knowing Skype calls are working well for you is very helpful. I will pass on your feedback to the team who work hard to deliver high standards of quality care.

As I have only recently been able to visit my mother again after lockdown, this review can only relate to the time before then.

My mother was assisted by myself, my sister and carers 4 times a day before moving to residential care. I have found the staff, for the most part, to be caring and aware of my mother's needs. The food is excellent and Mum's en-suite room comfortable, containing many personal possessions. I regret that due to lack of time and staff, my mother was not able to retain her ability to walk short distances.

Mum seems to be very well cared for. The staff are friendly, helpful and approachable. She has a good choice of food although her appetite is not what it was. She gets prompt medical help when needed.

Both my mother and father have been resident in The Sycamores for around 3 years. The care they have received in that time has been fantastic. My sister and I live overseas and it brings great comfort to us to know Mum and Dad have been looked after when they have been unable to look after themselves. Mum recently passed on and the way The Sycamores handled it could not have been better. I am very grateful to the staff for all they do to care for Mum and Dad.

My mum has been a resident for 12 months, during that extremely upsetting time the staff have been there for both my mum and myself. They have helped my mum to settle although this is an ongoing day to day battle. The home is a very friendly place, the food looks really nice and my mum enjoys her meals. The home has recently been decorated although ti was homely before even more so now. I have been supported fully throughout this year and I know when I leave mum she is safe.

Welcomed by the admin lady who was very helpful and friendly. Kitchens were spotless and my mother, who can be picky, said the food was excellent. Her room at the rear of the building was dark, but that is luck of the draw. All in all the staff were friendly and helpful.

Review from Sharon W (Friend of Resident) published on 31 May 2018 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

I and 2 other people visited a friend of ours who is a resident at The Sycamores. As we entered through the main door there was a strong smell of cat urine and also on the main corridor. I mentioned this to a male member of staff, he said no one had complained about this before and his attitude was quite arrogant. He asked a female member of staff if she could smell anything and she said she couldn't. I said he was obviously becoming very complacent. When I mentioned this to my friend who is a resident, she said a cat came into her bedroom. As I walked back along the corridor there were 2 dishes of pet food behind a door. I was not very happy with the male member of staff's attitude. Clearly, the cat is not properly house trained. This is not hygienic for the residents. The carpet in the entrance and the main corridor needs steam cleaning.
