Placing a loved one into care was a new experience for both of us, and understandably emotional and stressful. But Brian and his team were fantastic. He visited our mum in hospital to carry out a care assessment, offered valuable advice and guidance on the next steps, and the care team helped her settle into her room - all within just a few days.
The staff are friendly, attentive, and welcoming. Most importantly, our mum is settling in well. It's been an incredibly positive start, and we cannot thank The Gatehouse team enough.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share this thoughtful review. We understand how emotional and overwhelming it can feel when needing to make care arrangements for a loved one, and we are truly grateful that you placed your trust in The Gatehouse during such an important moment for your family. Your mum has settled in brilliantly and is a wonderful addition to our family.
My mother has been a resident here for two years, and she has improved in her well-being and enjoyment of life.
She has a social interaction with fellow residents that hugely benefits her.
I have no negative experiences at all over all this time.
Thank you very much for the lovely words. It has been a brilliant two years and an absolute pleasure for all the staff who have cared for your relative. I will share this review at our next team meeting!
Very friednly and cosy care home with loving staff! Everyone would go out of their way to do more for us! The management team are so helpful and warm! Everything is done on a personal need basis. I am very grateful!
Thank you so much for the kind words! We are very proud of our home. I look forward to sharing this review with the team shortly!
The Gatehouse team are very supportive and welcoming and nothing seems too much trouble.
The recently appointed new manager appears to have reinvigorated the team, keep up the good work.
All good and much loved recently in all aspects.
Thank you for taking the time to give us this lovely review!
My mother has been a resident of The Gatehouse for 15 months. Her care has been excellent, all the care team are very kind and professional. Previously, good leadership has been lacking but this has vastly improved since the appointment of the new manager. he is engaged with all he meets and keen to improve, there is a renewed sense of team spirit which is reflected in the residents who are now enjoying more activities and engagement. Please keep up the good work, an excellent team.
My nan (recently deceased) had a very happy time residing at The Gatehouse. Every time I and other family visited we found a caring, warm environment and atmosphere in the home. Staff, although often changing due to the sector were always welcoming and felt like friendly, whilst clearly showing respect and care for each resident's dignity. The recent new management has definitely added a layer of confidence and reassurance to staffing (care staff) and the overall sense of The Gatehouse. Finally, I could not fault the care given to my nan in her last few weeks.
Thank you for your lovely review. We all appreciate your kind words about the care given to your Nan. She will be sorely missed by us all here at The GateHouse.
I have no hesitation in recommending The Gatehouse to anyone considering a care home place. The care team are attentive and caring, they treat the residents with dignity and respect and make efforts to meet the individual needs of residents. I have always been kept fully informed of any changes or developments in my mother's condition and I have felt the staff, at every level have been approachable and supportive.
Here at the Gatehouse we really pride ourselves on our care. To read a review like this really hits home that we are getting it right. We will continue to deliver great person-centred care to the best of our ability. Thank you very much for your lovely words.
The staff and management are excellent. The Gatehouse balances caring and helping residents with maintaining a feeling of independence and choices. My Mum has always been a very independent person so this matters to her. There is also a great balance of having plenty of things to join in with in The Gatehouse community and having time to oneself and a lovely one-to-one chat with staff and visitors. The food is currently excellent as is the care and atmosphere.
Thank you for this wonderful review. we pride ourselves on giving a high standard of personalised care, the staff are working incredibly hard and this will be an amazing review to share with them so they know it does not go unnoticed.
Her room is light and airy and organised to her taste and best care interests and nothing is too much trouble. Visiting is no problem - at any time, and we have even had take-out nights in our PJs. A real home from home. She is now a permanent resident and enjoying making new friends. The coffee mornings are always fabulous, and a lovely way to meet the people caring for your loved ones. Thank you to The Gatehouse team for all of your hard work!
Thank you for this amazing review. We couldn't be more pleased that your Gran chose to stay after her respite, she is an absolute delight. I will pass these lovely words on to the team as soon as possible.
We enjoyed a very pleasant visit today to our friend at the care home. We were made welcome, she has a nice room overlooking the garden, with good facilities.
Thank you! I am really pleased that you enjoyed your visit. We pride ourselves on making sure everyone feels welcome and enjoys their time with us. We look forward to seeing you again.
The quality of individual care my mum receives is excellent. Continuity of staffing means some of the team know and understand her really well.
Thank you for taking the time to give this wonderful review, the team takes great pride in their work and the care we offer, I look forward to showing them this review so that they can see their hard work does not go un-noticed!
The care and the facilities are second to none.
Thank you for your kind words. I will pass this on to the rest of the team!
Since my mother came to The Gatehouse last December I have found that the care she receives has been excellent. The staff are warm and caring. Management is always friendly and helpful, and overall I am very happy with the standard of care provided. A big thank you to all concerned.
Thanks for your review, your mum is a pleasure to have around, she always has a smile on her face. I'm sorry that you didn't feel we met 5 stars in all areas so I will look forward to meeting up with you when you are next here so that we can discuss this.
The Gatehouse is light, airy, well kept, warm and welcoming. Staff have created a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, and my mother settled in straight away, with no regrets about leaving her previous life on her own. Despite her advanced age she has brightened since moving in: congenial company, good meals and constant thoughtful care have given her a new lease of life. The home is the right size for her: small enough not to be intimidating or formal, large enough that there are plenty of people to chat to. A larger home might have more extensive facilities and activities (hence four, not five, in the scoring) but The Gatehouse makes the most of its homely and attractive site, and there are sufficient and varied events to keep residents engaged. If there are queries or problems, staff are quick to spot them, resolve them, call in medical or other help if necessary, and contact the family. I know my mother is in good hands.
Thank you for your considered review and kind words. It is lovely that your mum has settled in so well and has become a happy member of our community.
Mum moved into The Gatehouse Care Home six weeks ago after suffering from a fall which made her nervous to go back home. She has settled quite well. The home is clean, warm, well-furnished and friendly. All the carers, staff and managers are very friendly and helpful and always take time with Mum, who can be quite challenging at times. She has also gained weight and seems happy in her new home. We would recommend this home.
Thank you for your kind words about the care your mum has received. Your mum always has a smile on her face and seems to be enjoying all the treats we provide during the day. She seems very settled and is now confident in the choices she makes with the help of the care team.
My husband is in The Gatehouse and he's very happy.
There are plenty of activities arranged for the residents each week.
Thank you for taking the time to review The Gatehouse, it's lovely to hear that you've had such a positive experience with us.
I live in France and can only visit my sister on my infrequent trips back to the UK. In October 2022, I was able to visit her twice and was very impressed by the loving care and attention given to all residents. When I left after my second and final visit, the carers made sure that my sister wasn't alone. Someone sat with her and then took her into the dining room where there were other residents. She wasn't left by herself. This was a sensitive and caring way of helping her not to feel suddenly alone. I am looking forward to seeing her again very soon.
Thank you for taking the time to review The Gatehouse, it's lovely to hear that you've had such a positive experience with us. We look forward to seeing you on your return.
Our mother moved to The Gatehouse in December 2022 and we were immediately impressed with the professionalism and warmth of the staff. Despite her multiple health challenges, The Gatehouse staff did everything they could to make our mother comfortable and happy and they were always welcoming and hospitable to us when visiting. The quality of a care home depends on many things, including good management and attention to detail (especially with medical needs) and these were all consistently evident during the time our mother was there. Most of all, though, it is the care team and staff that make all the difference! The team at The Gatehouse has been truly fantastic, often going beyond the call of duty and always showing genuine compassion in the care they provide. We will always be grateful for this and we have no hesitation in recommending The Gatehouse to anyone.
Thank you for taking the time to review The Gatehouse, it's lovely to hear that you've had such a positive experience with us. It was lovely to see you and your family at your mum's funeral. Please stay in touch and call in for a coffee and chat when you are next passing.
