Hadrian House in Gateshead is a warm and welcoming care home. The skilled team provides short-term and permanent residential care, as well as care for people living with dementia.

My mam was is Hadrian House for 4 years I can not thank the staff enough for the care my mam received, plus myself, as they all lovely and friendly, they went above and beyond, Rooms kept clean. Lots of Activities to do.

The girls who care for my auntie have worked there for years and I believe treat and support her with kindness and respect.

As a person with experience in Adult Social Care finding that perfect setting with my mother and siblings was the hardest responsibility I have ever had to undertake, we contacted Hadrian House and my mother viewed the following day and her response "Can I move in now". The environment - home from home,
food amazing, care staff fabulous. Sadly mam had a serious turn for the worse, off to A&E, I called in a few days later with the sad news, without hesitation, the manager said "Bring her home", I could not be more proud or thankful to hear such words and we will be forever in debt, a new room, breakfast for our family on arrival, nothing was to much trouble, just so much attention to detail, care above and beyond from all, empathy, love, patience and a smile, staff tolerated our silly Jokes, stories and memories, as we struggled as a family sitting at our beautiful mother's bedside waiting for the moment she would leave us for the final time. Thank you.

My mum was at Hadrian House for several months. She was brilliantly looked after. The care team are helpful, friendly and responsive. I visited a few times and, bar none, the staff were welcoming. I never had any doubts she was well looked after, well-treated and cared for. The care home is safe and
secure and has a super-friendly atmosphere. Thank you Hadrian House for everything you did for my mum.

I can’t speak highly enough of the manager and her staff at Hadrian House. My dad didn’t just look cared for he looked loved. They always had time to speak to me and answer any queries.

Amongst the deciding factors in choosing Hadrian House for my brother was the fact that the building is modern and purpose-built with a clean, light and airy atmosphere evident from the moment I stepped through the door.
Over the months that my brother has been a resident, I have come to know several
of the staff and can say that I have been immensely impressed with their dedication and attention to my brother's needs. He is now thoroughly settled in his new home and has begun to make new friends among the other residents.
Members of staff provide a wide-ranging programme of daily activities which I believe are really beneficial for all of the residents.
I must also record my appreciation of the efforts of the resident chef to provide a tasty and nutritious menu.
In summary, I now know I made the right choice in selecting Hadrian House for my brother's new home.

Hadrian House is up there as the best care home I've ever seen, the manager and her team really care about the service they deliver and it really does have a person-centred feel, the standards are amazingly high and you can clearly see how well the residents are cared for and how happy they are.

I was very apprehensive and anxious when mam was first placed in a care home. Three months on and those feelings have passed because I see how Mam has settled and is looking the best she has for months. The staff at Hadrian House have been brilliant in helping Mam settle in, they have been kind, friendly,
understanding and sensitive to Mam's needs. Communication has been really good.
I think it is wonderful that the Chef actually involves the residents when preparing his menus, asking them what they think about the dishes available and for them to make suggestions. Mam participates in day activities that Hadrian House provide through their excellent activities team. This is something that mam has come to look forward to and I think personally my mam gets a lot of stimulation etc from these activities.
I personally think that all the different members of staff at Hadrian House work very hard as a team and this makes the home feel special and welcoming to all.

Home always looks clean and tidy.
Staff nice and polite at all times.
Communication regarding incidents was not the quickest, but overall, happy with the home itself.
Resident seems happy there most of the time.

My mam quickly became settled and happy as she moved into Hadrian House. Made to feel very welcome. Mam is happy that she has company, both with residents and staff, who always make time to attend residents' needs and just to talk and spend time with them, which is very reassuring.

My nan and her little dog were cared for with the utmost attention and dignity by all the staff at Hadrian House. My nan had not wanted to go into a care home, of course mainly because she was initially unable to be with her beloved dog. But, staff at Hadrian House were more than supportive of her dog
being able to move into the home with her and made it so that both were able to live comfortably at the home. This made my nan so happy in her final year. Thanks to Hadrian House we knew my nan was safe and with kind and patient carers. The staff were good at liaising with us, the family, and showed genuine care and concern for all of us. We felt supported until the end (and even beyond that). We would recommend Hadrian House to anyone who was considering it.

Mam had never been happy about going into a care home as she had always lived her life independently. She was however made to feel very welcome and often praised the staff for their attention and friendliness, she was always treated with respect, and dignity and never patronized. She enjoyed chatting
with the staff and hearing their news.
We were always kept fully informed of any changes in her health, medication or personal needs.
My family and I have nothing but praise for the care given by the staff of Hadrian House and we would have no hesitation in recommending your care home.

My mam has been a resident since April. She had been in a respite placement for a number of weeks before going to Hardian House. She was very unsettled at the respite placement, which made us very anxious when she moved to Hardian House. We need not have worried, She absolutely loves it at Hardian House.
She loves all the staff and has settled amazingly. We cannot thank all the staff enough for the care and support they all give mam. She is always happy and cheerful when we go to visit and that says it all.

This is a fabulous care home, which gave my mam all the care and support she needed, it’s very reassuring to know your loved one is safe and cared for by such dedicated lovely staff. My mam sadly passed in the care home, and even though her passing was expected, it’s still a shock, but knowing she was
never alone brought great comfort to me. During this pandemic my mam was thoroughly looked after which I am so grateful for, I will always remember the home but especially the staff, for their dedication to my mams wellbeing, I will be forever grateful.

My Mum has been a resident at Hadrian House Care Home for several years now. I am very happy with the excellent care she receives. Many of the staff have worked there as long as my Mum has been in care, so she knows them well, as do I. They are so hardworking, caring and patient. It is so reassuring
to know that my Mum is being well looked after. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this home to anyone.

I joined Care UK in 2014 as I knew it was a great company to work for. It was rapidly becoming the number one care provider in the UK (which it’s subsequently achieved) and I wanted to be on board!


I’m an experienced home manager and have also worked as an operational manager in a housing association. I think to be a success in this role you need to be a combination of things: kind and caring, as well as organised, driven and innovative.


I love working at Hadrian House. We have a wonderful team here, who I’m hugely proud of, and I enjoy all day every day. We’re working hard to achieve our goals, and evidencing the great care we provide, so we’re ready to match – or hopefully enhance – our rating at our next CQC inspection.
