I would just like to say that placing my Mum in this Care home was the worst decision I have ever made. She was only in approximately 6 weeks. I would not recommend this home to anyone who cares for their loved ones. There are many reasons for this which I cannot go into after taking legal advice. If
thinking about it, think twice.

My husband's nanna lived at Northbourne for a few months and was well looked after and settled in straight away. She loved the staff and all the staff are always welcoming and caring. The cleanliness of the home is lovely and food is excellent, always plenty of activities if residents wish to participate.
Would definitely recommend Northbourne.

A lovely clean friendly home. An excellent standard of care and my mother-in-law is so very happy here. The family are happy because we know she's safe and well cared for.
A lovely "feel" every time we come in - we can feel the love the staff have for the residents.

This was one of a number of care homes we visited and I have to say was the best by far. The level of care provided by staff is first class and facilities available to residents is second to none. This has been a massive factor in terms of how quickly my mother has settled into her new surroundings.
She loves it, loves the staff and has quickly made some friends. Overall she is happy and content for the first time in a long time and feels safe and well looked after. Thank you.

My grandma has recently moved into Northbourne and I couldn’t be happier with the move. To say she has flourished would be an understatement. My grandma has commented on a few occasions how happy she is and has said she didn’t know places like this existed-if she knew what it was like she would have
come in years ago. The staff are amazing, caring, friendly, respectful and fun to be around, food is wonderful, the place is clean, tidy and there’s so many areas to enjoy within the home-everything is designed with the benefit of the residents in mind. 10 out of 10.

I'm very happy that my grandma is residing in this lovely care home. The standard of care and comfort are extremely high. The "hub" that includes a residents' cinema, bar and a hairdresser. My grandma looks much happier and well and I take great comfort from that.

My mother has come into Northbourne in this last few weeks. She was in assessment care prior to this and was very unsure about moving into a care home. To say she is happy in there would be a huge understatement. The hub is a lovely area for my mam to use and she joins in all of the activities which
she loves. She has really blossomed since moving in. I am also very impressed by all the care workers.

My auntie came here about 1 year ago after a bad fall at her flat. She also has the onset of Alzheimers/dementia. She has settled in great, and the staff are fantastic with the residents.

They pop in to have a laugh as well as look after her. Each time I visit, the staff left me know how she has

been and are very accommodating, offering coffee and a snack when I'm here. I feel that my auntie is in an outstanding place for residents to be looked after.

My husband did not enjoy being "in respite" but when we found Northbourne he was happy to embrace respite time which was helpful to me as a carer and great for him. The homely atmosphere there was encouraging from the first. The residents whether respite or long stay was central to the way the home
ran and in the way the clients were cared for. Tailor made to an individual- reassuring for relatives - win-win. Thank you.

The manager and her team do a fantastic job in what are very demanding conditions. I cannot praise all of the team at Northbourne highly enough for all they do for the residents. From day one my mum has received the highest of care and hygiene and attending 24 hours, seven days a week. Please pass on
my heartfelt thanks to this hardworking, totally professional team without whom my mother would not be in such a good state of health and wellbeing.

Since my mother-in-law went into Northbourne we have been overwhelmingly impressed with the standard of care from the manager and staff. They genuinely care about the care users and we are so grateful we can feel safe, knowing she is so well looked after.

We cannot praise the whole facility enough.

It is an awful thing to put a parent into care but we could not be happier with the care my mother-in-law receives.

Well done to all!

My mother recently moved into Northbourne, everyone has been so helpful from the initial assessment to helping to move in her furniture in. The home is very warm and welcoming. Her room was freshly painted and clean. The staff always have time for her and try to get her to join in the activities.
Medicine is given correctly, food is excellent with plenty of snacks, tea and juice readily available. All staff are very cheerful and always ready to update me on how my mam is doing.

Mother was admitted to Northbourne in September 2017. On arrival, she was treated with respect and care and that has continued throughout. All the staff from senior to new staff are very helpful and do all they can with a caring and friendly approach.
My mother has settled in and is 97 years and in
a few weeks, she has gone from sitting alone for hours having falls etc into a really supportive home. Management has provided great support to our family throughout. The activities and support given have been wonderful and range from singing, sewing, painting, pottery, baking etc. Residents are genuinely very happy Christmas approaching has been fun for all. My um has been very happy since admission four months ago and we are happy too.

As a family, we were faced with my Mam in law having dementia.
We visited Northbourne and felt it was the best in the area. They cared for my Mam in law for 4 years, some of which were very challenging. The care she received was above and beyond what was expected. All the staff, from the chefs to the
domestics, the carers and even the administration staff, couldn't do enough for her during the end of life care that she received.
My Mam in law passed away with love and dignity, as a family, we can't thank everyone, and we mean everyone, that works there for the support they showed us at this sad time.

I can not praise the staff enough, from the catering staff, domestics, carers, management and everyone you come into contact with, they go above and beyond. It is a difficult time for family but they all helped with a smile and understanding. Although mam was hard work they treated her with love, care,
and dignity as though it was their mam, they have helped us through bad times. The home feels good, just walking through the door we knew. It is happy, very clean, no smells, friendly, welcoming, safe, approachable and they listen.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.085)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.085) out of 10 for Northbourne is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.850 for Northbourne is calculated as follows: ( (51 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 60 Ratings = 4.85
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.235 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Northbourne is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 34 registered maximum number of service users is 6.8. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 6.8 = 0.735
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
