Management of this home do not follow correct procedures. My husbands care plan was not up to date and was only corrected when I flagged it up. We found ourselves in the position that my husband was evicted from the home with no eviction notice apart from when they tried to give me a backdated notice
which I refused to accept. No support was given when we had to find new accommodation. All this points are absolutely proven to be true. Still no apology given. Would i recommend this home?? Absolutely not. The care home is in direct need of refurbishment. There is no activity coordinator or activity programme to help stimulate the residents. Residents are currently all on one floor and are a mix of residential, dementia, complex needs and respite care. I would have given no stars but that option wasn't available.

My parents had to use Middlebrough Grange for a week respite whilst they had a new heating system installed. The staff were fantastic really care for my parents. The food was really lovely. I felt they were really safe in the home. I will defiantly recommend and if needed in the future would use this
home. Many thanks.

Our father spent the last few months of his life at Middlesbrough Grange. We couldn't have asked for better care for him. All staff went above and beyond to make sure he was comfortable and looked after. The meals, we always thought, were lovely with snacks in between even ice lollies in the summer.
It made his stay like home from home.
Thank you.

My mother has been a resident at Middlesbrough Grange for over 10 years and in that time the care home team have been exemplary in the care of my mother showing great professionalism and compassion. My father was also admitted to the home for a short spell for end-of-life care and was given the same
professional and compassionate care.

My father first went into Middlesbrough Grange when I went on holiday, as he could not look after himself. As his Alzheimer's got worse he had to go in Middlesbrough Grange full time. He went in at 95 years of age. His last 3 and a half years of life were very good. The staff were wonderful and they
made sure his last few years were safe and comfortable. I can't praise them highly enough. My sister and I could visit him whenever we liked and the staff always made us feel welcome.

I honestly cannot thank this care home enough for looking after my mam for the last 3 and a half years; she was there until sadly she passed away. The staff have always been like one big family to me, always there to help, and nothing was ever any trouble to them regarding my mam. The care was 100%
the best.

My brother was recently in need of an emergency placement in a care home. I was recommend Middlesbrough Grange through a friend and I was not sorry. The home manager made the whole process seamless. My brother has no immediate memory due to his mental illness and dementia, the staff were absolutely
brilliant with him, he has been so well looked after and has told us that he wants to go back. If that wasn’t enough, he was only supposed to be in there for a week but due to a family emergency they let him extend his stay for another 2 weeks. Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff here. The care he received was amazing and I would certainly recommend this home to you if you are looking for care of a loved one

Mum lived in Middlesbrough Grange for almost 8 years before sadly passing away last week. Throughout that time the staff have been so very friendly and accommodating, I know Mum was happy and well cared for but the special care they give her in her last days was a credit to them and made a very difficult
time easier. Thank you to all of the staff.

Current Review Score: 7.9 (7.919)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.9 (7.919) out of 10 for Middlesbrough Grange is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.1 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.8 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.100 for Middlesbrough Grange is calculated as follows: ( (41 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) + (10 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 60 Ratings = 4.1
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.819 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Middlesbrough Grange is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 45 registered maximum number of service users is 9. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 9 = 0.444
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
