This was the first time I had used the "pod" for a visit. It was fantastic, safe and warm. A very good solution to an obvious problem of the clients and visitors meeting one another.

Sadly my mother died a few days ago and I would just like to say that she was looked after and with such dignity, she loved living there and all the staff were really good. It is very clean, she lived there for a few years so the last years of her life were happy.
Thank you to all the staff.

A really big thank you to all the staff who provided Mam's care at the end of her life. You could not have done anything more to make her feel as comfortable. We are all extremely grateful that we could leave Mam in your care during the nights knowing she was being well looked after.
We will highly
recommend your care home.

One of the best care homes I have had the pleasure to witness. The care given to my father was exceptional and when he took ill, they acted fast and without a doubt, saved his life.
He was always clean and well looked after. The amount of dignity and respect he was treated with was beyond all my expectation.
A wonderful place that I hope serves the people of Middlesborough for a long time to come.

We feel that the staff are exemplary in every aspect of care given to our Dad and to us as a family. We are always made to feel extremely welcome at any time of the day or night. Both residents and family members are treated with dignity at all times. Would not hesitate to recommend Middlesborough Grange
as a top facility.

Since my mother in law has been in the care of Middlesbrough Grange, fantastic staff, she is happy and getting the care she needs! My wife is settled knowing her mother gets 100% cared for, nothing is too much trouble and she can communicate very well with the manager and staff if needed. They have
activities on most days if residents care to join in if not they can stay in the comfort of their own room knowing there would always be a friendly member of staff popping in to make sure all is ok.

My mother spent a year here. The care workers are so kind and made my mother feel welcome. This is supposedly a dementia care home, but we have been given a 4 weeks notice because they can not meet my mothers' needs. This is down to management. A couple of small outbursts from my mother and they can't
deal with it. I've removed my mother from there due to no compassion from the management and them dealing with this situation wrongly. As for the pub opening, it was used a couple of times and it was only done as a publicity stunt. The care staff do work very hard. I have seen them working with limited numbers and they deserve a medal for the amount of effort they put into caring for the residents. On many occasions, I've found my mothers tablets on her when she was not watched appropriately whilst taking them.
I hope no other family has to go through the heartbreak of taking their family member out and disrupt their lives like ours. “Dementia friendly” what a joke the management is.

Since my father has been in The Grange. I have come to respect and trust the care he has received. Sadly he has deteriorated mentally during 2018, but his care went up a level. I too have been treated with care and consideration and kindness.
Highly recommend!

Current Review Score: 7.9 (7.919)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.9 (7.919) out of 10 for Middlesbrough Grange is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.1 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.8 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.100 for Middlesbrough Grange is calculated as follows: ( (41 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) + (10 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 60 Ratings = 4.1
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.819 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Middlesbrough Grange is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 45 registered maximum number of service users is 9. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 9 = 0.444
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
