Have used this care home for 3 years now, when my Dad needs to come in for respite whilst my brother is away on holiday. The staff are excellent, very friendly, helpful and always there to help. The food is very good and the atmosphere is calming and relaxing.

I think that things should be better done with the resident as there is nothing for them to do and mostly sat in their room. They could do with something like day trips out.

Carers are very friendly and helpful and go out of their way to get things done. They are very kind and helpful to visitors as well as residents.
If residents are unwell they are never left for very long on their own, carers are in to check on them all the time.
I could not get a better home than
this for my sister.

I have observed the staff being polite and respectful at all times. They are patient and seem to like working in the care home. I have never seen an incident that would concern me. I am very happy with the care my Aunt receives.

I would like to thank the staff for their fantastic support and care during my mothers passing away. Team leaders, support workers and all have been amazing.
This has been the case for 6 years in which my mother was a resident there. Indeed the help and understanding to my family has been brilliant
and I can't thank them enough.
They are a glowing example of your company and a great credit to themselves.

Very homely and pleasant care home. Lovely decorated rooms, plenty of room and airy. Staff only too happy to help in any way they can. My mother seems to have settled in. The food looks lovely and there is a good choice. There are facilities for the family to make tea and coffee which is much appreciated.
The lounges have a lovely atmosphere and very well kept. The aids to help the residents are up to date. Would definitely recommend it!!

Was feeling nervous of taking Mam to the home for respite. Walked in and felt at ease immediately. Lovely, warm fresh atmosphere and other residents looked happy and said 'hello'. We were taken to a lovely clean room and all welcomed Mam and made her tea and biscuits. They showed us round, happy residents
with lovely set out tables for dining. Telly and ensuite in the room with lots of staff around. Mam feeling happy and content. Will be using this home again in the future for respite great staff.

Current Review Score: 6.7 (6.747)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 6.7 (6.747) out of 10 for Middlesbrough Grange is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 3.4 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.3 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 3.400 for Middlesbrough Grange is calculated as follows: ( (16 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) + (10 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 35 Ratings = 3.4

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.347 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Middlesbrough Grange is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 45 registered maximum number of service users is 9. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 9 = 0.222

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
