The care home is comfortable and homely. The staff are very caring and helpful. The only thing for me that is lacking, there is no activities or anything to keep them motivated. All they do is sit in the armchairs or on sofas and all they can do is watch television if they want to but my husband is
so very deaf he can't even hear the television. I think this is my only complaint by myself. Our family think it's an important issue.
Reply from Zoe Burton, Admin at Roseleigh

We are saddened to hear this, we do employ 2 activities coordinators who work over 7 days, we always encourage residents to continue with hobbies or interests they have always enjoyed or even try something new.

The most important thing to say in my opinion is that my dad likes it here (so much so that he thinks he owns the place!) All the staff are friendly to residents and visitors alike, professional and caring when carrying out their duties.

The home is okay mostly but on too many occasions the staff say they are short staffed and when the resident asks for anything to be done it is always "in a minute", which turns into longer.

My sister came to Roseleigh initially on a temporary basis as she is only 57. Unfortunately, her circumstances changed and we were asked to look at care homes for residents her age. The staff at Roseleigh have always been caring and supportive towards my sister and her family so we asked if she could
stay permanently. She is now a very settled and happy resident. I would strongly recommend to family and friends.

My husband was admitted to Roseleigh in November 2014. He is really cared for by the staff who treat residents with warmth, kindness and patience at all times. The medical care is very reassuring and I am informed whenever there is a problem. The manager is available should any concerns arise and sees
that these are swiftly dealt with. The atmosphere is calm and pleasant and the residents are respected and treated as individual in their own right.

Staff are very friendly nothing was too much trouble, if we asked for anything they helped us as much as possible, they picked up on dads anxieties etc if he was uncomfortable which I was happy about because they could read his moods and if he wasn't happy with something very caring people.

I couldn't have been more pleased when I went to visit my father the day after he was taken into the home, he was admitted after a week in hospital for respite, he loved it that much he is now in there permanently. The staff are so caring and happy and are always willing to help with anything. His room
is very comfortable and cosy. He is well looked after. I know that he is happy and content because he is always praising the staff and he looks very well too. I would definitely recommend this home.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.278)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.278) out of 10 for Roseleigh is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.878 for Roseleigh is calculated as follows: ( (72 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 82 Ratings = 4.878
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.4 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Roseleigh is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 50 registered maximum number of service users is 10. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 10 = 0.7
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
