My Dad has been at Elton Hall since February 2018. From the management, carers, cooks and domestics are all so lovely and caring. Nothing is ever a bother when it comes to taking care of my Dad. Dad gets taken out and about by staff on a regular basis. Whenever we come to see him we are made very welcome.
A lovely place.

The thought of being old and in residential care used to fill me with dread. Just three weeks at Elton Hall changed this. From the very start, I was made to feel welcome. Someone was there to greet me when I arrived alone in a cab from hospital, wearing just a hospital gown - my only possession then.
I was given clothing, provided with toiletries, shown around and offered a shower and a meal. A staff member even brought me in a lovely pair of pyjamas and slippers. I was impressed by the dedication of all staff, who were attentive, helpful and cheerful. Their kind care certainly aided my recovery. The tranquillity also bodes for a healthy state of mind. Everything was clean, tidy and well maintained, inside and out. The food was excellent. Absolutely marvellous all round.

My sister and I visited a number of care homes in our area before deciding on Elton Hall Care Home.
The care home is set in a very peaceful location in the countryside but only a short distance from Stockton. Elton Hall, we all liked the atmosphere and friendly staff.
Picking a care home for your
parents is not easy and we crossed our fingers hoping dad would be happy there.

After the first month we asked dad if he was ok there or would he prefer us to find him somewhere else. He replied he wasn't over the moon to of been put in a home but if he had to choose one it would be this one.

The whole place has character and lovely gardens to the rear the varied menu and food were excellent, my dad had no complaints and enjoyed teasing the staff who were always up for some fun.
When he was poorly and confined to bed near the end, one of the staff would stay with him and apply water to his lips to stop them drying out, all around satisfied with his care.

Elton Hall has friendly, cheerful staff who brightened my father in laws day with their banter. For the short time he lived at Elton Hall he was happy and well looked after. We saw a big improvement in his health and fitness before his final illness. Elton Hall may not be the smartest of places but
it has a warm and homely atmosphere with staff who really get to know the residents and their families.

My mother is a resident at Elton Hall, she was diagnosed with bipolar and her behaviour at times can be very demanding. The unit at Elton Hall of which accommodates younger people is an absolute "God send" it is fully equipped, set in its own grounds, lovely personal rooms - it's amazing. Last but no
means least, the staff are absolute angels, caring and professional, it's like a family atmosphere, more so, the caring and understanding given to mum is outstanding.

This is the second home Mam has been in, she was in one from November 2014 until July 2016, we had to find another home as they could not cope with Mam's dementia.
It is the best thing that could have happened, Mam went into Elton Hall in July 2016 and has settled really well. I cannot speak too highly
of it.

Although mam's dementia is quite bad now, they have dealt with her very well and she is happy in her own way. The staff are lovley and they deal with Mam very sympathetically, she joins in with the activities when she can.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.084)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.084) out of 10 for Elton Hall is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.713 for Elton Hall is calculated as follows: ( (82 Excellents x 5) + (21 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 108 Ratings = 4.713

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.371 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Elton Hall is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 70 registered maximum number of service users is 14. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 14 = 0.571

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
