Cannot thank St George's enough for looking after Mam.
She was very settled and happy there and loved all the staff.

And I, as a visitor, was kept very well informed about Mam's care and felt reassured and welcomed.

Before Covid my assessments here fully express my true opinion of this very well-run home. In the difficult Covid period it has been difficult for everyone involved, but the home has maintained its high standards, especially with regard to communication issues. We were kept well informed of my relative's conditions of health or otherwise in a lucid and caring manner. The management have been helpful with any bureaucracy.

My father has become a permanent resident since November 2019. The staff at St George's are incredibly helpful and really take great care of him. The home is fantastic and the facilities and bedroom are great. There are a variety of activities on offer to keep him busy. The care received by my father really is second to none. They treat him with the dignity he deserves.

Cannot fault the care given to my mother-in-law during her stay at St George's, she is very happy and content. She decided she did not want to leave during her first week.

My mother has spent almost four weeks at St George's having respite care. From the first contact with St George's, I could tell that this was a very welcoming and professional organisation. My mother was concerned about having respite care but from the first moment we arrived she was made to feel very welcome and there was a warm, friendly, caring atmosphere throughout her stay. Mum soon settled and every member of staff was helpful giving her excellent attention, along with tasty food from beginning to end. She had a very comfortable room with a television and wash hand basin next to the bathroom. I would have no hesitation in recommending St George's for the care my mother received and also the support which was given to the family by the St George's team.

Emma SmithJob Title:Area ManagerJoined: 2023

I started my career as a Support Worker for individuals with learning disabilities and complex needs, and it was there that my passion for care truly began. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to develop my knowledge and experience within the health and social care sector, managing multiple services simultaneously including EMI, mental health, supported living, behavioural complex units, elderly care and outreach services.

These experiences have shaped the leader I am today and given me a real understanding of the importance of person centred care at every level.

As Area Manager for Kirklands Care Group, I’m proud to support our homes across Cumbria. I value people and I firmly believe that everyone’s voice matters and deserves to be heard. My goal is to ensure our residents receive the highest standard of care while creating teams who feel supported, appreciated and proud of the work they do.

Michelle CaisleyJob Title:Operations ManagerJoined: 2021

I started my career in care as a Health Care Assistant and have progressed and worked my way up through the Health and Social Care Industry, working across many services such as mental health, learning disability, children's services and dementia nursing, reaching the position of Area Manager.

In 2021, I joined Kirklands Care as their Operations Manager, overseeing all of their care homes. Kirklands Care is a family-run business that shares my own beliefs about care and that the residents' care is of utmost priority, and this, for me, comes first. My love of spending time with the residents shines through my work, hearing their stories and having the ability to make a difference in their lives. Every resident I care for is treated how I would expect my family member to be cared for, which for me is with love, dignity and respect. My role allows me to work with families to take the pressure off whilst allowing them to feel their loved one is in a suitable environment, is safe and cared for.
