Review from Charles H (Partner of Resident) published on 20 November 2023 Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 1.0 out of 5
I rate the home 0 stars based on:
Poor quality furnishings, wardrobe and chest of drawers made from cheap flat pack, bottoms of drawers bulged and out of the rebate.
The room in which the w.c. was fitted was so small that my partner was unable to unable to use her Zimmer to get to the w.c unless she
reversed in. We had to provide our own commode as she could not access the toilet.
The only space in the room for the commode was directly in front of the window; this faced onto the staff smoking area so there was no privacy whilst toileting.
Security concerns: a male resident from another room wandered into her room late one evening.
Food; Her evening meal (at 4:40 pm) on the only occasion I visited her at meal times was a rasher of bacon between 2 slices of white bread, not what I consider part of a balanced diet.
Hygiene: she received 1 bath in the 2 weeks she was interred there.
In a word, appalling, but there is no facility on the rating chart to give 0 stars.
Reply from Kim Rogerson, Director at Inglewood (Cumbria) LtdThankyou for your review, we welcome all feedback. We recommend all families to raise any concerns or complaints at the time and, preferably, direct to ourselves and then we can try and remedy the situation immediately. This provides a better outcome for our residents. We pride ourselves on being a learning organisation but we find it hard to build on the service that we offer, when the complaint is raised several months later and indirectly via a website. In response to a couple of your points, our furniture is not flat packed but purchased from a specialist care company. Our home is an older building and the bedrooms have varying sizes of en-suites and we may have been able to offer you an alternative bedroom. Our home is known for its delicious, home-cooked food and we regularly post photographs of our 'Cake of The Day' on Social Media.

I visited my distant relative whom I have not seen in three years. She was in a previous care home before and since moving to this care home, she appears very clean and well-presented. Her general health has improved, she is able to hold a cup and now give herself a drink. She is much more relaxed.
The staff were very helpful.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Mam has been a resident of Inglewood since November 2021. Despite previous issues with the previous manager which have been dealt with, the level of care my mam receives is outstanding, she's settled in well and feels at home here. The staff are knowledgeable, professional, friendly and cater to my
mam's specific needs. The girls there keep me up to date with any health issues and I feel confident that my mam is in the best possible care here. It's a home away from home with 24-hour support, proper home-cooked tasty food and lovely staff. They are all doing a great job and I thank you.

Mum is well looked after and well cared for at Inglewood. She enjoys the various activities that go on. Staff made a lot of effort to find opportunities to keep everyone active mentally and where possible physically. The communal areas are being updated as are residents' rooms. Staff encourage residents
to socialise and to make use of the garden. Family are kept well informed of any issues regarding health and are made welcome when visiting. Resident safety is taken seriously.
Reply from Kim Rogerson, Director at Inglewood (Cumbria) LtdThank you very much for your kind comments. I'm glad your mum is enjoying the activities provided by the activities co-ordinator and other staff members.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.285)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.285) out of 10 for Inglewood (Cumbria) Ltd is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 13 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.510 for Inglewood (Cumbria) Ltd is calculated as follows: ( (93 Excellents x 5) + (40 Goods x 4) + (15 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 149 Ratings = 4.51
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.775 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Inglewood (Cumbria) Ltd is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 = 3.775
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 26 registered maximum number of service users is 5.2, which has been reached with 11 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
