Darlington Manor

I am very happy with the care and attention that I am receiving at Darlington Manor Care Home.

I enjoy being in this home. I am well looked after. The staff are very good and the meals are very good.

I, and I am sure all the residents in this care home, would like to say a big thank you to all staff for the way we have been looked after during this difficult time of Covid. The staff have come in every day and night, and nothing has been too much for them. They have been wonderful, and I would recommend this care home to anyone.

My elderly mum with multiple health issues spent nearly 3 weeks in Manor Care Home and throughout the whole time, she appeared very well cared for especially with respect to being dressed and having her hair and nails done. We (dad and I) were fortunate enough to be able to visit mum due to the Covid secure pod which was a real bonus as we hadn't seen mum whilst she'd been in different hospitals. From the first day mum was in Manor Care Home (Darlington) communication was great, staff answered the phone after a couple of rings and the same with the door when we were visiting. All the staff I spoke to or met couldn't have been nicer, very professional, friendly and caring. Mum said she enjoyed the meals and activities provided. The standard of cleanliness seemed very high.

Staff are caring, considerate and friendly. Going to miss them when I leave. The home is kept extremely clean by cleaning staff that takes pride in how clean they keep the home. The food is good - home cooking and hot when it comes. I had no problems with any meal I had. Two caring activities staff had plenty of fun and varied activities for all residents. Thank you all for being lovely.

I would recommend the Manor to anyone. All the staff; carers, cleaners, kitchen staff have made me feel welcomed and part of the family. They all work hard especially in the difficult time with that covid pandemic. They are lead by an excellent manager. The staff are all very caring and friendly. My family are made to feel special too; recently we have had a visit pod built which has been great for me to see my family.

My mam has been in the Manor for a year now and if it wasn't for the staff in the home being good, caring, professional in all they do and keeping all residents safe and well, I don't know how my family and I would have coped in the last 12 months. They are also at the end of the phone and do their best, especially when understaffed.

My wife - in her eighties - was found to be suffering from a urinary infection and surgery doctors recommended Darlington Manor Care Home in preference to hospital treatment. Such a condition can require time to heal. It very swiftly became apparent to both of us, and to our mature son and daughter, both happily resident in Darlington, that the efficiency and planning in all areas of treatment and care, not to forget comfort, left really nothing to be desired and as patient and visiting relatives we enthuse to pay tribute.

I cannot speak too highly of the dedication and compassion shown by staff. At short notice, senior staff assessed my Aunt and she was transferred from hospital. The staff were so reassuring to us and to her during this process. She settled in well due to the friendly and caring staff. They encouraged her to join in with activities including visits to the cinema and the cafe in the local park. The carers were always available to accompany her to appointments. When we visited, we were always given a warm welcome and were told of any concerns or changes in her health. When my Aunt's health deteriorated, she received excellent end of life care from the staff. They made sure she was comfortable and peaceful. Staff took great trouble to get to know my Aunt and used this knowledge in paying great attention to detail in caring for her. During her last few weeks we were reassured that members of staff were with her when family were not able to be. Thank you to all the wonderful staff.

Mum arrived at Manor, in the summer of 2016 from hospital. She was greeted with welcoming and caring staff. Mum was given a room on the 1st floor overlooking the allotments at the rear, the room is light and spacious and has many bits of her own furniture and knickknacks. Staff are brilliant, friendly and helpful. Thank you one and all.

My mum has been an EMI resident for eight years. I visit her regularly. Whenever I am in the home, I always appreciate the positive caring and supportive atmosphere. The residents including mum are treated kindly, patiently and with care and concern. I will be eternally grateful to these wonderful staff members, who treat not just my mum, but me, as one of the family. I hope they know how much they are valued.

When my Dad first moved into the care home he had given up the will to live. My Dad is a very difficult person to get on with. It only took the staff a couple of weeks to get him out of the mood he had got himself into. They know how to deal with my Dad's moods as an individual. He has now been a resident for about 18 months and even I have noticed the change for the better in my Dad's personality. Thank you to all the staff.

I started visiting Darlington Manor when 2 of my friends moved from a care home which closed in Hurworth eleven years ago.

I feel I have made friends at Darlington Manor since and found the staff very nice.

Since my wife went into the care home I have closely monitored her care and found it to be excellent. She is treated with respect at all times and her dignity is upheld. Her accommodation is first class with adequate facilities. I cannot praise the staff enough for the way that they care for residents, showing understanding and kindness when dealing with residents needs. Safety and security is taken seriously at all times.

The home and staff do an excellent job of looking after my dad. He is not an easy person to look after, I can't thank the staff as much as I would like to. Thank you all.

From the moment our mam was admitted to the care home, we were made to feel very welcome and homely. Nothing is too much trouble. Staff very caring and polite and treat mam with respect, this makes us as a family feel reassured that mam us getting the care she needs, overall we are very happy with the care home.

The best aspect of Darlington Manor is the care and commitment of the staff, led by the manager, everyone is friendly, helpful and takes a genuine interest in the residents. There is a wide range of activities and outings and personal preferences and needs are catered for as much as possible. Meals are freshly prepared and enjoyed in a communal environment.

On the whole, my Fathers care has been very good, with any issues dealt with swiftly and professionally as my Father isn't the easiest to deal with.

My mother has been shown love and understanding on every occasion when she has visited or been a resident. I cannot recommend the home highly enough. Huge thanks to everyone.

The only minor issue concerns a lack of mobility aids at times.
