Both my mam and step father have been residents for over 3yrs...initially together but due to mams dementia a decision to separate for their own wellbeing was decided by all.
Both now on different floors due to different health needs.
Prior this ive never had experience of a care home.
I visit as
frequency as possible and have actually become attached to the wonderful atmosphere and care the residents receive. .and have always been made to feel welcome.
This home is that, a home from home for the residents with splendid care and a dedicated entertainment team, which includes many walks and fresh air weather permitting.
For myself a care homes number one success lays with the staff and teamwork inclusive of everyone and I wouldnt hesitate recommending this care home, the staff here are actually the care home.
With such grateful thanks and respect to Samantha .. x

Mother in law (L) was discharged to Darlington Manor in Feb 2021 following # hip. She died there of frailty in Dec 2025.
Throughout her stay, she and our family have seen the compassion, respect and professionalism of all staff.
There is no doubt that the leadership of the manager is key to this.
They were endlessly patient with L, treating her warmly and respectfully, maximising her enjoyment and led by her wishes whenever possible. They laughed and danced with her, managed her husband with kindness and cried with us when she died. We are eternally grateful.
Reply from Andrea Pickering, Quality Care Manager at Darlington ManorThank you so much for taking the time to share such a moving tribute to our team at Darlington Manor and to the care your mother-in-law received. Your words mean more to us than we can adequately express.
We are deeply touched that you felt the compassion, respect and dedication that our staff strive to give every resident and their family. As you walk through the doors there is always a friendly face. The staff are amazing, Ellie, Laura, Tracy, Sam, Alicia, Leanne have a special place in my heart and all are brilliant as they always know if Ken or Rita are doing ok. Ken recently had his best friend admitted to the Manor, in the room opposite
however Bill has recently passed away. The staff have been in very regular to make sure Ken is managing his emotions. Good great, cleanliness fantastic.

My mum has suffered with dementia since 2020, sadly this year she had a stroke. After she returned home it became obvious dad was not going to manage even with us and carers visiting.
We turned up on the door step of the care home and were welcomed in, all the staff were smiling and said "hello".
We were showed around, they asked all about mum and all our questions answered. We left feeling it was a home from home.
Mum moved in and we could not of asked for a better, smoother transition. The staff knew how we were feeling make this large change to all our lives and we where given great support as well as the warm welcome mum received. Since then the staff have got to know us and more importantly they know my mum so well. She will try to avoid doing somethings and when it comes to getting mum to eat !! they have worked with her and have improved her eating better than we could of hoped.
We are really pleased with the care, love and support we see all residents receiving. Well done.

On behalf of my family, I want to share my sincere gratitude to everyone at Ella McCambridge for the exceptional care you are giving our father. The warmth, patience, and kindness you all show him each day go far beyond what we could ever have hoped for. It is clear that your team does not simply provide
care-you create a home filled with dignity, respect, laughter and genuine compassion. Setting up his room to feel just like home, even letting us bring his own bedspread and teddy bear. You listened to every detail (yes, even down to his love of HP sauce!) Knowing that my father is surrounded by such dedicated and thoughtful people brings us great comfort and peace of mind. The change in Dad has been incredible. He's happier, more alert, and constantly smiling and the way the team look after Mam when she visits, always welcoming her and making her feel cared for, means the world to us. My sister has recently been admitted to this home, I had brilliant communication from them from day one, especially good for me as live 400 miles away. Just spent a few days visiting and on every visit all the staff were so friendly and caring to the residents. There were always plenty of staff available
to talk to and help the residents with their needs. They really care about their residents and are so kind towards my sister and every effort is being made to help her adjust to her surroundings and her needs. My wife and I left feeling much happier about a very difficult situation for all of us.

When my dad first went in I felt comfortable leaving him here because the carers were lovely. I have no issues with the carers here as they dealt with my dad very well considering his challenging behaviour caused by mental health issues. I did have issues with the fact he was always covered in food
and his wheelchair was always filthy, this I'll put down to them being very overworked. I do however have an issue with the management towards the end of my dad's stay there. When they decided that they did not want him there due to what they said was his medical needs, they handed this very badly. They did not inform us regarding ending his stayand also avoided contact from social services. Bear in mind I spoke to the manager minutes before he called the hospital to inform them he could not go back, he had said nothing to me. We had to hear this from the hospital he was in at the time.

We are sorry to hear that your experience towards the end of your father's stay was not a positive one. Dipton Manor Care Home

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mam is now living at Dipton Manor on a temporary basis, I was very skeptical and worried my mam's health could worsen, mam is still with the Dipton Manor and I have found every member of staff very caring and patient with everyone I see them care for. Occasionally they are short of staff because
of ie. illness, then all staff left rally around and help each other to ensure all and every patient is cared for correctly. When you go to Dipton Manor they make you feel very welcome and even silly questions I ask are always answered. I feel now mam has become stronger and her health is much better because of all her carers at the home.
Well done to everyone your jobs are not easy but all the caring you give makes me appreciate you all so much.
