My mother has been a resident for the past 3/4 years due to dementia and I can not fault the attention and attitudes of the staff. To me they look after my mam like she was their own. My mother suffers terribly with chest infections and they are always quick to pick up on it when she starts becoming
unwell. They sort out the matron and always let me know what the outcome is and the tablets etc that she is getting. The cleanliness of the home is great. I never see anything out of place or dust anywhere. Even the cleaning staff are super friendly and stop and chat with my mam. I also have to say the food is amazing as well. My mam eats everything. Never complains always says she loves the good old traditional food Fish and chips Friday and Sunday dinners. Overall my opinion is it's like a home from home. The staff are super friendly and very helpful. They also have activities going on throughout the year and include everyone summer fete and Christmas parties. My mam loves them all

We are extremely dissatisfied with the care provided to our mother, who has dementia and suffered a fall within approximately 30 hours of being admitted. This is a period during which a new resident should be closely monitored to ensure their safety, particularly when they are vulnerable and unfamiliar
with their surroundings.
The handling of the incident, including the follow-up communication, did not meet the standard of professionalism or clarity we expected. This has severely damaged our confidence in the home's ability to provide appropriate support.
My faith in the care system has been fractured.
Our situation was defined as a crisis situation and this care home was supposed to ease that situation but it made it a hundred times worse than it already was.
Regrettably, we cannot recommend this care home based on our experience.
Reply from Paul Millar, Client Relations at Riverside View Care HomeThank you for taking the time to share your concerns, all feedback is welcomed and allows us to continually develop our service.
We are truly sorry to hear about your experience and distress this has caused you and your family. The safety and wellbeing of our residents is our highest priority, and we understand how upsetting it must have been for your mother to experience a fall so soon after admission.
We want to assure you that we are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the monitoring in place at the time and the communication that followed. Your feedback highlights areas where we could possibly improve , and it will be taken extremely seriously as part of this review.
We recognise the trust families place in us, especially during what you described as a crisis situation, and we are sorry that you feel we did not meet your expectations. We are committed to learning from this and to ensuring that any shortcomings are addressed promptly and

Lovely feeling to the home when you walk in. Manager goes above and beyond in every aspect of care home and residents. My husbands room is clean and comfortable, the food is excellent, I know this first hand as when my husband first went into care he wasn't eating, the manager asked me if I would have
lunch with husband and he now eats both dinner and dessert. Staff are friendly and welcoming and I am more than happy as to how he is looked after.

My brother was transferred to Riverside View from hospital after a fall which resulted in a fractured pelvis. From the moment he arrived, he was greeted with respect and friendliness by all the staff. He had great care and nothing was too much trouble for the staff whenever anything was required.
The
food was excellent and plentiful and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to anyone.

My aunt spent her last 21 months in this home. She had settled in very well enjoying the care she received which relieved my sister and me of a great deal of concern while she had been living alone, especially during COVID. She was very happy with the staff and carers who were friendly, polite and always
available to answer our questions and was able to make new friends. At the end of her time, she died in the home at the age of 99 surrounded by familiar people and in her own room with appropriate care.

I want to thank everyone at Riverside View Care Home for the brilliant care and love that has shown to my mam during the 5 years that she was resident. I have the utmost respect for everything that you guys do, in very difficult circumstances. I take my hat off to you all for working so hard at all
times to make sure that those that are unable to care for themselves are looked after, safely, in comfort and are happy whenever possible. I feel that as an occupation you are overlooked and undervalued. I have nothing but the highest level of respect for you. My mam settled into the home very quickly, she seemed to be pretty happy. I don't have any experience or comparison with other care homes but she usually seemed content and smiling!

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.296)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.296) out of 10 for Riverside View Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 12 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.589 for Riverside View Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (109 Excellents x 5) + (21 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) + (5 Poors x 2) + (5 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 141 Ratings = 4.589
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.707 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Riverside View Care Home is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 = 3.775
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 59 registered maximum number of service users is 11.8. 11 Positive Reviews ÷ 11.8 = 0.932
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
