My mother has been a resident for over a year now. She is treated with consideration and much affection. She regards the residence as home. Due to her poor eyesight, she does not have as much interaction with other residents but the staff make every effort to include her in all activities. I feel more
happy myself knowing that she is in such a caring place.
Reply from Ronnie Cavanagh, Marketing at Riverside View Care HomeThank you, David, we always appreciate individuals taking the time to give their feedback and we are very pleased to hear that your experience at Riverside View Care Home was so positive. Dad has been a resident for one year and within that year he has had to cope with illness, admittance to hospital and bereavement of his wife who was also a resident. The staff have helped both him and I through these occasions, supporting us both along the way.
It hasn't been an easy road and sometimes
I have had to speak for him but he is now very settled and does refer to his room as home.
Reply from Ronnie Cavanagh, Marketing at Riverside View Care HomeThank you, Veronica, for letting us know how we are doing at Riverside View Care Home. Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mum resided at Riverside View for a very happy nine years. During this time, I have seen several management changes but the management team in place now is outstanding.
There are a core number of staff who have cared for mum from day one throughout her dementia journey. I will never forget the
support and kindness they provided both to mum and me in some very difficult times coming to terms with the development of this condition. A very special thank you.
The newer members of the team are also a brilliant asset and very dedicated carers working at times in a very challenging environment.
Unfortunately mum passed away recently, at her Riverside home surrounded by the love of her family staff and residents. In addition, me and my sister spent a few overnights at Riverside View, this gave us the rare opportunity to meet the night staff, which makes up an all-around special care team.
Thank you so much and I will miss my 9 years association with this wonderful outstanding home.

All the staff are very helpful and caring but at times not fully staffed. The rooms are kept very clean and tidy. Overall standards are good and my dad appears very happy. The fees are quite high and risen sharply since my Dad first came in by £160 per week.

Review from Andrew S (Cousin of Resident) published on 28 September 2017 Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 3.0 out of 5
My cousin is in this care home. Care is at best 'inconsistent' with the times of medicines etc varying considerably, whether this is down to lack of staff or management I don't know. However, having to be woken in the early hours to be given ear drops when these should have been given hours earlier
is not acceptable.

How often should a resident be bathed? In this case, no bath has been given in 3 weeks.
How often should a bed linen be changed? In this case, the same pillow covers have been on for weeks.

Food is at best bland and the cheapest option given. There seems to be no menu and the resident is not offered a choice, again meal times vary considerably if taken in your room.

A very disappointing report.

Staff have been friendly and supportive, both administrative, care staff and managerial. My mother is well cared for when she is in the care home. Senior care workers always do a care plan for her when she goes in for respite. I would also like to include domiciliary staff in this review as they have
been pleasant to me and my mother.

I ma delighted with the care my husband is receiving at Riverside View and visit him most days. In fact I have recommended this home to several of my friends who now have their friends, relatives in this home. Also I have spoken to some of the residents friends who have visited and I have never heard
them complain about the care home.

Staff have been fantastic in welcoming mum to the home, they are friendly and keen to learn all about her, providing highly professional care to the level she needs. The home and rooms are fresh, clean and well decorated, with all the right facilities. Everyone has been so helpful in helping mam settle
well. There is a good range of activities led by the activities lady who is excellent. I would recommend Riverside View to anyone.

In my opinion Riverside View care Home is outstanding in all aspects. My father went into another care home after leaving hospital, it was appalling, smelt of urine and he was left to stay in bed all day. I approached Riverside View to move him to them. They responded immediately even helping me transport
him. All, without exception, staff are kind, attentive and treat dad with dignity and respect. Dad suffers from dementia and is challenging at times so I know they have their hands full. The home has just been redecorated with new furnishings including dad's room. The manager goes out of her way to make sure I know what is going on and rings to make sure I am surviving the upset and guilt feelings and reassures me they are there for me as well as dad. I cannot praise this home and all the staff enough, outstanding. Thank you.

My mother has been in Riverside care home for approximately five months after transferring her from a hospital in Hull, where she was recovering from a broken hip. After the excellent care she received in the home she recovered from this and was doing relatively well. A couple of months ago she fell
again in the home breaking her other hip, after her second hip replacement she has recovered reasonably well, but her dementia and confusion have deteriorated, which has meant she is not happy and is constantly depressed. She has fallen again twice recently and both times receiving cuts and bruising to her head and face, and the last time spraining her wrist. This seems to have caused her further deterioration. She is still receiving the best of care from excellent staff, but unfortunately she cannot appreciate it.
Reply from Claire Westmorland, Home Manager at Riverside View Care HomeBarbara, thanks so much for your review of Riverside Care Home. We take every review extremely seriously, and always act on the feedback. We are really pleased that you are finding the care your mother is receiving of a high standard. As you mention, your mother is prone to falls and because of this we are taking extra care to ensure these are minimised as much as possible, whilst allowing her to maintain as much independence as is possible. We are constantly reviewing the most appropriate way to care for your mother, and will keep talking with you to discuss how things are going. Likewise, if you have any concerns or suggestions that you think may make your mother feel more positive, we are always keen to hear them. Thanks again for your feedback and I look forward to seeing you soon.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.296)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.296) out of 10 for Riverside View Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 12 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.589 for Riverside View Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (109 Excellents x 5) + (21 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) + (5 Poors x 2) + (5 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 141 Ratings = 4.589
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.707 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Riverside View Care Home is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 = 3.775
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 59 registered maximum number of service users is 11.8. 11 Positive Reviews ÷ 11.8 = 0.932
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
