I want to thank each and every one at Riverside for the care, attention, patience and compassion shown to my mam during the 5 years she spent at Riverside Care Home.
I have the utmost admiration for everything that you guys do, in very difficult, restricted and challenging circumstances. I take my
hat off to you all for working so hard at all times to make sure that those that are unable to care for themselves are looked after, safely, in comfort and are happy whenever possible. The job you guys do is so often overlooked and undervalued. I have nothing but the highest level of respect for you.
My mam may not have been able to thank you herself but please may I take the opportunity to do so on her behalf. It was of great comfort to us all that in her final years she was in such good hands. I don't have any experience or comparison with other care homes but I know she was happy and content with the genuine care, company and humour that filled her time with you.
Reply from Paul Millar, Marketing Manager at Riverside View Care HomeDear Ian, Many thanks for taking the time to review our home. It was our pleasure to care for your mum and she is sorely missed by all at Riverside. Your kind words are greatly appreciated and I will of course pass them on to the Riverside family.

I expected to be here for six weeks but due to unforeseen circumstances, I am still here after four months. I have found the whole experience demoralising, depressing and a bit scary. Having said that the staff have been excellent they are helpful and friendly and have been accommodating in allowing
my partner to be with me every day.
Reply from Paul Millar, Marketing Manager at Riverside View Care HomeMany thanks for taking the time to review our home. We fully understand that the process of moving into a care setting can be a daunting one but am pleased that the colleagues at Riverside have made it as comfortable as possible. Your kind words are greatly appreciated and I will of course pass them on to Claire and the team.

I cannot rate the standard of care that my mum receives highly enough! I would give the home six stars out of five if I could. The warmth and genuine affection that she is given - even at her most troubled dementia moments - is just as anyone would want for their much loved mum. The home is extremely
well run, clean and fresh, the residents are well monitored and fed and cajoled into suitable activities. The staff go out of their way to accommodate requests - I live 300 miles away but I am able to have regular video calls with her, courtesy of the wonderful activities staff. Mum is as happy as she could possibly be in the circumstances and I can never express my gratitude adequately.
Reply from Paul Millar, Marketing Manager at Riverside View Care HomeDear Vanda, Many thanks for taking the time to review our home. Over the past six and a half years, my mother, and initially my father, have been cared for at Riverside View. I know CQC judges a home on these five things - safe, caring, responsive and well-run. I would score Riverside highly on all of these things. The manager is an exceptional registered manager,
and her staff (from some of whom have been with her for many years) are a credit to her. She has shown amazing patience and skill in working with my mother and with her family. This has been much appreciated. My mother died the day this was posted. I would like to say how well the staff worked with my mothers palliative care and how good they were with my sister and I and supported us on our last day with my mother.
Reply from Paul Millar, Marketing Manager at Riverside View Care HomeDear Graham, many thanks for taking the time to review our home. It has been our pleasure to care for your parents. All feedback is greatly appreciated and allows us to continually improve our services. Your kind words are greatly appreciated, and I will, l of course, pass them on to all the colleagues at Riverside View.

My 94-year-old uncle became a resident 5 months ago. He has mixed dementia, limited sight and hearing and poor mobility. As a family, we cannot speak highly enough of the wonderful staff who have cared for him with so much warmth, patience and kindness, especially with the added difficulties of the
Covid pandemic. My uncle is treated with respect and with an appreciation and understanding of his dementia by all the staff we have met. As his family, we have also felt supported by the staff and encouraged to contact them if we have any questions or worries. Nothing is too much trouble. It is so comforting and reassuring to know he is looked after by such caring professionals.

Dad joined the home in August at the age of 90, following a series of falls and being diagnosed with dementia. Throughout his stay, I have been greatly encouraged and pleased by the care and treatment shown by all staff. Despite not being able to enter the home, I have been impressed by the kindness
and professionalism expressed by staff and management. Dad is obviously happy and content in the home, he looks healthy and is well-groomed and talkative.

Always feel welcome. The staff are friendly and polite. They all care and looked after the residents as you would expect. One a personal note, the staff are great with my mum. They obviously think a lot about her, and I always know that she will be safe and well, even in these difficult times. The staff
at Riverside are fantastic, and make it a great place for my mum to be living in.

Since Mam has been here, she is happy and settled. The staff are great, very caring and helpful. During this dreadful pandemic, every member of staff at this home has gone above and beyond to make sure all residents are happy and well cared for. I cannot praise them enough, they have kept me updated
on how my mother is when I've rung, and since lockdown has slightly eased, they allow us to visit with social distance and every other precaution that is needed to be in place. They have put photos of the residents on Facebook showing events they are doing etc. This, I found very reassuring to see Mam well and happy. All the staff have and are working so hard at this time, hats off to them all.

My mother has lived at Riverside View since 2015. The staff are always kind and friendly, and provide excellent care for her, as well as encouraging her to engage in the life of the home. I too feel very welcome and at home when I visit. The staff always resolve any concerns I have about Mum's health
or well being. The building is light and gives a feeling of space with large attractive rooms. It is always very clean.

to visit. They are unfailingly kind and attentive, endlessly patient and totally committed to providing the best possible care experience for the residents. Thank you for all that you do to help my mum.

My Mother was here for four years until she passed on May 5th, at 99 years old. She loved it there. It is a really nice place and the staff are excellent. I live abroad so I didn't get to visit often but I called every Sunday and the staff were always happy to take the phone to her. She was blind but
the staff always took excellent care of her and she was always clean and tidy. My sister and family lived close by and visited regularly. The food is very good and refreshments are always available. They keep the place very clean. They have a nice garden to sit out in. Lots of activities to keep them occupied. If and when the time comes for me to have to go into a care home if I could find one half as nice as this I would be happy.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.296)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.296) out of 10 for Riverside View Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 12 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.589 for Riverside View Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (109 Excellents x 5) + (21 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) + (5 Poors x 2) + (5 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 141 Ratings = 4.589
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.707 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Riverside View Care Home is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 = 3.775
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 59 registered maximum number of service users is 11.8. 11 Positive Reviews ÷ 11.8 = 0.932
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
