My mother has been at Willowdale for approximately 3 years. The staff are so very caring and go above and beyond to cheer my mum up and keep her fulfilled and occupied. They are caring and conscientious. My mum has required a few visited from the doctor recently and the manager / staff have been very prompt with this and kept on top of her condition very well.

When we needed to find respite care for my Mum coming out of hospital, willowdale were brilliant in helping us. Once my mum was settled, she'd decided she wanted to stay as she felt safe and secure .

The staff are very friendly with residents and family. The place its self is clean .The care my dad receives is good. Any problems are dealt with promptly by management. My dad sometimes complains bout the portion sizes at meal times.and that he sometimes has a cold cup of tea also when dad asks for a cup of tea he sometimes has a negative response eg Staff to busy or short staffed. Although few negative points my dad has settled down at willowdale and has made friends with some of the residents.

Reply from Diane Davies, Home Manager at Willowdale Care Home

Thank you for your review ,I am glad dad has settled in well and we all can see that he has ,Although dad does ask for cups of tea we have to be mindful as he is on a fluid restriction and we have to monitor his intake for his wellbeing.

Mum is happy and settled at Willowdale and always says how lovely the food is. The staff are all lovely. Mum gets involved with all the activities which helps to keep her mind working. She has always been a very sociable person so she's in her element with her friends in the day room and watching TV.

I have nothing but praise and admiration for every member of staff at the home, from the maintenance staff, kitchen, cleaners and caregivers right up to the current manager. They all treat Mum with the dignity, care and respect she deserves on every occasion she needs their support. All staff always smile and welcome our family with welcome arms when we visit, that means we feel that Mum is being looked after wonderfully when we go from there. Recent changes there could have been disruptive to residents and families alike but we have been fully informed and involved in these changes when possible. The new activity coordinator has been a huge asset to the home in terms of keeping residents mentally and physically active where possible. I am aware there are a number of agency staff being used but I feel the home is doing all it can to recruit permanent staff. Thank you to all involved in Mum's care.

Just been to visit my mum for her 90th birthday and she has had a grand day with birthday cake and Prosecco as well! Mum has been a resident for over 9 years now and the staff are fantastic and always take great care of her needs. The place is always friendly and everyone is made to feel most welcome. The home manager and her team do a grand job.

Willowdale is a lovely home, the staff are extremely professional and treat Mum with dignity and respect at all times. Mum is totally reliant on others for all her needs, whilst assisting her the staff will always engage and enjoy hearing her sing. Mum has a good sense of humour and staff are able to use this especially on her most painful and uncomfortable days. Mum's room is spacious and comfortable and has the benefit of a very large window which makes it bright and cheery. There is plenty of room for all the equipment she needs and for visitors on days when she wants to stay in bed. An activities coordinator has recently been appointed and when I've visited I have seen various craft activities, bingo and quizzes taking place.

The food is good with a range of dishes on the menu each day, always fresh fruit and veg available. Staff consult the residents about the menu. Housekeeping do a great job keeping the bedrooms clean and tidy and managing the laundry. Communication is 5-star.

All staff are amazing, patient, kind, and caring.
Food is plentiful and of a very high standard/quality.

Most rooms are bright, well-laid out and cheerful, but the odd one could do with decorating (which I believe is underway). The activities are varied, well-thought-out and fun. There is a secure locked front door/sign-in/out process. The dining room and both lounges are up-to-date and comfortable. You always get a warm welcome at Willowdale.

My auntie has been at Willowdale for a few years now and has loved it. Unfortunately, just before Christmas, she had a diagnosis of cancer with no hope of treatment. Her only wish was to revisit Blackpool, but because of how unwell she is, the home brought Blackpool to her, and she had an amazing day! All the staff are exceptional and are true carers. I am truly touched by the care and support to provide to my auntie and also to myself and my family too.

The manager and care staff are very caring and make it feel like a family. My husband has excellent health care and a doctor is called if there is any concern about his health. If there are any problems, the staff ring me straight away and keep me up to date.

Mum has been a resident at Willowdale Care Home for seven months. During Covid, it was very difficult to get support for my Mum at home and we looked for the right care locally. I have no hesitation to recommend Willowdale Care Home. Mum has settled well and of course, has good days and bad. The staff are always happy to talk about how Mum has been and to help her with the telephone. I have been made welcome when visiting either indoors or using the visitor's pod. The food is all freshly prepared daily and the cakes at afternoon tea are highly rated by my Mum.

Reply from Vicki Weller, General Manager at Willowdale Care Home

Willowdale Care Home is a lovely care home, very homely which I think is very important. I feel completely at ease knowing my mum is getting the very best care. It's a very friendly place for residents and visitors. The staff are absolutely amazing, so caring and hardworking. The residents are treated as individuals; the staff treat them as normally as possible and have a laugh with them; it's a very cheerful place.

Would 100% recommend Willowdale to anybody looking for a care home for a loved one as that's what they'll be there - loved! The cats are a bonus too!
