Overall Experience
My mother has been a resident at Willowdale for 12 months. She is extremely happy and had made excellent progress socially and emotionally and her mobility has improved immensely from requiring 2 carers to support her, she can now walk fairly independently with her 3 wheel walker.

The support/care from all members of staff is exemplary. The rooms are a little dated and living social areas are limited (hence lower score) but overall Willowdale is an excellent care home with outstanding staff and management.

I could not thank the staff and management of Willowdale enough for the care given to my father, that went above and beyond the call of duty on more than one occasion. My family, friends and I were always made welcome. As I live abroad, the telephone service to check up and speak to Dad was wonderful. We are only sad that he was unable to stay with you all at Willowdale. Many thanks.

Reply from Sam Evans, Home Manager at Willowdale Care Home

It was a pleasure to have dad here at Willowdale and we hope he's happy in his new home. I will pass on your kind words to all the team at Willowdale. Many thanks

Mum became a resident in Willowdale at the beginning of September. Having been so independent with some family support, she was very anxious about going into a home. However, from our first day on arrival, the warmth and love from all the staff was wonderful. Mum is always reassured when she is excellent and it is so lovely to hear her speak so affectionately of Willowdale. Many thanks to the manager and all staff.

I have no hesitation in giving a positive review for Willowdale. My mother is a new resident and was reluctant to give up her home of 57 years. From our first visit to Willowdale, we were impressed by the atmosphere and friendliness of management and staff. Everything was explained to us clearly and all our questions answered. Mum has a lovely en-suite room on the ground floor where she can see all the comings and goings! She has been allowed to bring her piano, which she plays for her own pleasure and that of other residents and staff. Mum is a fussy eater and her requests have been accommodated. Overall we are extremely happy with Willowdale and congratulate management and staff on providing an excellent service and I am grateful that Mum is safe and well cared for. Well done.

Lovely home with welcoming, friendly staff. It is great to see nan enjoying company, activities and trips after being virtually housebound for a number of years. Her great grand children love coming to visit and the resident cats and fish are a big favourite!

My Nan has settled at Willowdale really well, especially when she doesn't always socialise easily. The staff are all lovely and nothing is too much trouble. They go above and beyond their role as a care home, trying to make each day fun with theme days, crafts, gardening, days out and even visits from the ice cream van :) They have also been a great support to my mum in making this necessary but difficult decision for my Nan. Highly recommended.

My mum is currently a resident of Willowdale. This is the most friendly and inclusive care home I have ever visited. Mum has her hair and nails done weekly and has enjoyed more trips out in the last 3 months than she made in the previous year. The staff have become friends and are totally amazing with the residents. There is always something to do. The attention to the patients is second to none. Thank you.

My Mum was a resident of Willowdale Care Home for four and a half years until her death last year. The care she received there was outstanding. Mum could not have been happier (she never ceased to tell us that). The staff were wonderful to her - kind, care, patient and so respectful. They treated her with so much dignity at all times and mum loved them all. A wonderful wonderful team! They became Mum's friends (and us too) - so friendly and communicative and involving us at all times. We shall always be so grateful that Mum's last few years were so happy and surrounded by love.

Review from G H (Mother of Resident) published on 4 April 2018 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

My mother spent the last 4-5 years of her life in Willowdale. She regularly spoke of how much kindness there was there and what wonderful food she had. She was always clean and well-groomed. She enjoyed a variety of daily activities as well as trips out. The staff were warm and friendly and always found time to talk, informally and formally, about my mother. They knew her very well and talked to her very often every day. We were always contacted immediately if there was a concern.

Liaison with the GP and healthcare teams was excellent and when my mother was admitted to hospital, the medical staff commented on the detailed and high standard of the paperwork provided by Willowdale. The only downside for me, although it did not directly affect my mother, was that there were several changes in management which, although mainly excellent, was sometimes mediocre. However, on a visit I paid to Willowdale this week, I was pleased to note that the period of managerial transition seems to be over and I believe the new manager has the vision to know what needs to be done and the ability to do it in order to make Willowdale excellent in every way.

My mother has been cared for to the highest standard in my opinion. She has picked up in her attitude and well being. She would like to say thanks to all the staff for their kindness and work that they are doing for her. It is a huge burden off my families minds that she is being looked after so well.
