Lovely clean comfortable home, caring staff. New stairlift for my friend to use. Very pleasant gardens. Staff are always pleasant when I phone to speak to my friend. Skype is always offered if I wish to use it to have face time with my friends.
The environment is very comforting and very welcoming. The facilities are fantastic and is suitable for everyone. The place is kept to a high standard and very clean. This is a great place and I was very satisfied.
Dol Awel seems a friendly residential home. My grandfather looks well, seems happy and is still cheeky so it puts my mind at ease. It's been very hard not being able to see him during lockdown but I phone regularly and the staff are happy to give me updates. I've visited the garden area (which is beautiful) but it was too cold for my granddad but all in all, I'm happy that he is doing well.
During this pandemic, we suddenly found ourselves looking for a care home for our 85-year old grandmother. Covid didn't give us the luxury of being able to turn up and view to enable us to make our decision. The internet was our only means of research. Dol Awel soon caught our attention and we were fortunate that our grandma quickly adapted to the new place and of course, we keep in touch via Skype. Everything is brilliant at the home and soon she is an active cheerleader in the home.
The management and staff have worked tirelessly during the pandemic to keep the residents safe. Continuous improvements to the decor and furnishings are ongoing and hopefully will remain so.
As the weeks and months have gone by it’s clear that Mum is being looked after very well. She is happy and cheerful and most of all she looks really well. I am kept updated with regular news and photos and I speak to Mum regularly. The food is also excellent – plenty of good traditional recipes that Mum really likes as well as afternoon teas and cakes which often seem to be had in the lovely garden.
The room also looks super clean and well-appointed, so all in all I am really happy about Dol Awel and would recommend the home and staff without reservation.
Clean and comfortable.
Good food.
Nothing is too much trouble.
Management is taken very seriously with things done correctly.
All care staff pleasant, clean and helpful. Care standards followed to the book. Nothing is too much trouble. Residents clean and well-fed. Very high standards. Dol Awel is immaculate.
Despite our experience being for a short period, we as a family would recommend this care home. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide full scoring due to the national visiting restrictions in place and have therefore marked good for those we haven’t been able to experience.
I am so happy with all the changes that have been made in the home. My friend who I visit told me that he feels safe walking to his room now with the new carpet and I haven't seen him smile so much in a long time. The carers are doing there utmost to keep everyone entertained and safe during this difficult time and I speak to him on Skype quite often which makes me very happy also.
Very nice environment - there are many amazing activities with families and residents. Very clean and the ambience of the home was very welcoming. There is a different approach rather than a conventional home - I will not hesitate in recommending this home to any potential clients.
I don’t live local to my grandmother so over the past month, being able to video chat with her has really helped lessen the impact the distance and not being able to see her is having. My grandmother has been able to video chat with both me and my little girl, which brightens up her day and ours.
During the lockdown, my grandmother has been kept safe and well. I am confident that she is in safe hands and she enjoys living at the home.
Thank you so much Dol Awel & ARA Care.
Since taking over Dol Awel, ARA Care have made significant improvements, the pride and care they take looking after your loved ones is so reassuring. They are like a big family, the residents are family and they treat them as such, they do everything to ensure their residents are happy, comfortable and secure. As for the actual family of the residents, they are made to feel so welcome and the reassurance that your loved ones are ok is brought across in the forms of face to face chats, phone calls, emails and even video calls so you can see your loved ones. The staff are all so lovely and friendly, they treat your loved ones with kindness and respect. Basically, nothing is too much trouble, they even have a chef who changes the menu on a weekly basis to ensure there are different meals and options available. We have even been invited to family and friends barbecues to get to know other residents and their families and the staff better. It is such a lovely home from home.
I am always greeted with a smile and a cup of tea, made to feel welcome when visiting and most importantly, my relative is so happy living here.
New owners have recently taken over, my relative and I feel that this is a very positive change. We feel the standard of care has increased. The daily food menu has changed creating more choice, there are more activities at the home ensuring stimulation and interaction for all residents.
Overall I am very pleased my relative lives at Dol Awel.
I have always been confident that my auntie was being looked after and she herself seemed fairly happy in the home. I have already seen an improvement under the new owners with cleaning and food enhancements. The ‘uplift’ currently being undertaken will further improve the quality of the home.
I was very impressed with the positive outlook of the home since the new management has taken over. The resident can choose from a wide variety of menu and they can also order any specific meal they want. The new cook and the staff are always there to help. The home is always clean and residents are happy there with lots of entertainment. I had the privilege of visiting many homes in the locality and without a doubt I can say that this is one of the best.
The staff are great, and when I visited my family member who has been a resident here, I found that she was enjoying a music session.
