My mother made her own decision to stay at Penrhos, which made us as family the decision a lot easier to accept. Everything is perfect, she is so happy.

My mum has been in Penrhos Care Home since August, it's a lovely, small home and the staff are brilliant. The care my mum gets is fantastic and they go that extra mile for all the residents. I can't praise the staff enough and they keep me informed with everything they do. I would certainly give them
five stars.

The care home manager is excellent, very caring and listens to the problems. The staff are excellent. The home is clean and decorated regularly, however, sanitary ware needs updating, no ensuites available.
A conservatory would be a bonus. There is only one lounge, a second private room is needed for
quiet times with the family. COVID has been a difficult time and the staff have been amazing.

My sister-in-law is very happy and has settled well into Penrhos Care Home despite being subject to covid restrictions. The staff are very helpful, kind and caring and my sister-in-law reports that she is very fond of them. Communication with the staff and management is first class and nothing is too
much trouble. I feel that the care provided is patient-led and as a family, we are very happy with the care provided.

I couldn't wish for my mother to be in a more caring environment. It is more like an extended family than a residential facility.

Our mum has been a resident of Penrhos Care Home for two years, both our mum and our family have nothing but praise for Penrhos. Our mum is always happy and clean. Her room is comfortable and welcoming. The team in Penrhos always treat our mum with dignity and care. We would recommend Penrhos without
hesitation. As a family we can't thank the team enough for the care that our mum receives. Thank you.

For anyone going into a home, it must be terrifying. My thoughts were of a care home with residents in chairs around a big room with very little interaction - how wrong was I! Penrose Care Home is home from home. Individual rooms and not hospital sheet insight. Regular well-balanced meals. Amazing staff
who put residents first every time. Entertainment afternoons/evenings regularly. Amazing liaison between GP's, district nurses and care home. Superb home that cares as much for relatives as it does for residents.

My family and I were very pleased with the care offered to my mother during her two-month stay at the home. The admissions procedure was efficient and we were welcomed by friendly staff. My mother found it difficult to settle because of the other things going on in her life but managers and staff kept
us very well-informed about how they were working with my mother, the positives and the difficulties.
My mother told us that she liked being in the home though she did not understand why she had to live there.

Our mum went into Penrhos Care Home for respite in April and is now a permanent resident, she is well looked after and is very happy here which gives us all peace of mind. The home is all on one level not too big and very clean, the staff and management are very caring, helpful and always friendly and
welcoming. The food is also very good.

Lots of input required from staff in dealing/caring for my Mother and always been very caring and efficient despite Mother's difficult nature on times and constant medical requirements.
Staff very pressured as so few of them and they are working long, long hours as a consequence. Nevertheless, they
are courteous and caring but more staff definitely required.

My mother was exceptionally lucky to be a resident of Penrhos Care Home, the family-run home provides the most dignified welcoming home for all of their residents, they went beyond the normal duties of care for the elderly and my mum was treated like family. The staff are amazing and nothing is ever
too much trouble. I, unfortunately, didn’t live locally and struggled to visit regularly but because of the management and staff my mother always felt happy and I always knew she was being so well looked after. I cannot recommend this home enough, dignity and exceptional care come as standard.

I find visiting a pleasure. There's always a friendly welcome and I'm encouraged to have a cup of tea and chat with other residents. There's singing going on at present and makes me want to join in! There have been outings in summer and waved the residents off.

I've made many friends with staff

and other visitors I know. I would recommend this care home to anyone. I would come here myself if I could.

Current Review Score: 8.1 (8.111)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.1 (8.111) out of 10 for Penrhos Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 1 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.3 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.833 for Penrhos Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (10 Excellents x 5) + (2 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 12 Ratings = 4.833
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.278 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Penrhos Care Home is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 18 registered maximum number of service users is 3.6. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 3.6 = 0.278
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
