My mum was at Newton Grange for only eight months before she passed away. The care she received was exemplary. This is a lovely, homely and friendly home. I was there most days, visiting, and one of the things that impressed me so much was that there were always the same staff. The food was amazing and lovely homemade treats every day for tea. My mum especially enjoyed the activities and entertainment on offer. You can never be bored at Newton Grange! The staff handled my mum’s end-of-life care with love and compassion, for which I will be forever grateful.

My brother has been so well cared for by all the staff at Newton Grange. He feels settled and at home here and certainly enjoys his food. He has the freedom to stay in his room or go down to the lounge and decide for himself what he chooses to do. The staff go over and above the line of duty to give him the best quality of life his health permits and he enjoyed his birthday treat out. We are very pleased and grateful for the support he receives.

My grandmother came to Newton Grange in December 2022. There is no other home that comes close to Newton Grange. The wonderful and dedicated staff, the friendly and sociable residents and the happy atmosphere. Granny has settled in very well and always has a smile on her face. We are so happy that she feels comfortable and peaceful. The incredible manager who is always there to help and support us and makes us feel like one big family.

My friend was admitted to Newton Grange approx 10 months ago. In the time I have visited her, I am aware of the harmonious and peacefulness in the day room. There is always something going on to interact residents with, gardening, cooking and quizzes which is so beneficial both to staff and residents. Food is ample, looks plentiful, and is nutritious and the residents enjoy it too.

The decor of the day room and dining room is light, airy and welcoming to visitors and residents. Overall a wonderful caring home for the elderly.

The general atmosphere of the home is very cordial, warm, physically and emotionally. My aunt is treated with dignity and love and she is obviously very happy. The quality of care and provision makes one feel that this is a fine and friendly country hotel!

My mum has been residing at Newton Grange for the past 4 years. The staff are excellent and have always been very caring. The recent addition of the lady who provides activities has been very welcome and although Mum is no longer able to participate, I'm sure she enjoys watching. Two members of staff are lovely and they genuinely seem to care for Mum. It's so hard putting Mum into care but I am overall pleased with the care she's receiving.

My mother is very happy at Newton Grange. She is safe, looked after and enjoys contributing to communal activities. The staff take a great interest in her life and she enjoys when local schools visit the hoe and she can share her recollections with them.

My aunt has been in Newton Grange since November 2021. She is in her 90's with dementia and the staff there are amazing. It's a beautiful, clean place with a homely atmosphere. The main lounge is beautiful with a stunning chandelier which is always a topic of conversation for my aunt. There are always things to do and involvement from the local community/school. The staff are extremely friendly and approachable whilst providing not only a high standard of care but a friendship too.
The bedrooms are more spacious than standard care homes and the view upstairs from the back rooms is exceptional. The food is superb too with a chef employed at the providing a good selection of meals with fresh fruit and vegetables.

All in all, this is a great home if you are considering a safe, pleasant and comfortable place for a friend or family member. I can highly recommend them and have found no faults in any areas.

We had been experiencing increasing difficulties with my elderly father in his own home. He had progressive dementia, which meant we were doing everything for him. I became ill myself and was in hospital twice, so it was necessary to find a home which could look after my father (locally). He is ninety-two. Newton Grange staff have been wonderful. All the girls are incredibly patient and kind. They go above and beyond to make my father feel settled. So grateful.

My mum has been in Newton Grange Care Home since February 2019. I was a little apprehensive at first as I did not want my mum to go into a home, however, I knew it was the best for her as she needed special care. Since mum has been in the home she has settled very well more so this year 2020. The only thing I would like to see for residents are a few more activities as I feel this is lacking within the home. (Exercises mild), singing, music etc.

Where do I begin? The professionalism, compassion, care and love shown to my mum knew no bounds. Mum, who had been driving prior to Christmas 2019, tragically went blind. She went from a fiercely independent person, who used email and Facebook, to being hopeless, helpless with no purpose in life. Words cannot express mine or my family's gratitude.

These carers and management care. You are not on your own and you can talk to a member of staff when you are in trouble and they are very quick to help. I have a beautiful bedroom and the staff allow me to paint portraits in my own space and time and painting helps me a lot, they also order me paints online when the shops are closed. I am so glad to be here.

My mum has lived at The Newton Grange for just over a year and has been very happy. She is well cared for and the staff are lovely.

As she is physically active, it would be nice if they could do a few more trips out and a few more activities inside, but other than that, we cannot fault the home and care she receives.

The staff are extremely friendly, and nothing is too much trouble, and I feel great care is taken to look after my Brother. The only disappointment is that not more has been done to make the garden more colourful and accessible for the residents to access, as I was told it was on the list of things to be done.

My mum seems genuinely happy at the care home, although unfortunately due to her condition doesn't remember a great deal from day to day. Since the lockdown, I have been disappointed with a few aspects. Visiting was permitted in August, this was under a very flimsy gazebo, which was very wet and cold in poor weather and no signs on cleaning the furniture before or after the visit. The gazebo has since been taken down and not replaced by anything permanent even though this was promised. There has been a lack of stimulation for the residents, which is very evident when visiting my mum, she is very unsteady on her feet when being brought out to see us, a sign that she is spending a lot on time sat down. There also has been a lack of communication, often different information provided to different family members.

My sisters and I were struck by the lovely atmosphere when we visited The Newton Grange Residential Care Home, while we were trying to find a suitable home for dad. Dad has Altzheimers and Dementia. It is wonderful to see how calm and settled dad is. My feeling is that this is all down to the care and compassion of the staff, who treat all the residents with warmth and care. I cannot praise them highly enough.

My mum stayed two years in Newton Grange which the staff were fantastic and now she moved down to Brynfield Manor, both of which all the staff show all the love and care that anyone could ever wish for their parent.

I recommend both homes to all. All the love and care couldn't ask for better. Even the DIY man is super and always willing to help.
