Mum, who is 99, has been at Maes-Y-Wennol for a few months now. The current restrictions on visiting due to coronavirus has put the responsibility for Mum's mental, emotional and physical wellbeing fully on the members of staff. They have been wonderful in a difficult situation. Mum is full of praise for the 'girls' that care for her. On my visits to Maes-Y-Wennol prior to the lockdown, I found the premises clean and homely and the atmosphere warm and friendly. The staff always keep me up to date with any issues around my mother's health.

In that time she has (as per her diagnosis) deteriorated mentally and physically at a swift and shocking rate, but I'm relieved to say, she is content and happy, secure and comfortable. I visit 2-3 times per week and each visit I witness a person-centred approach from this coordinated and highly-committed and communicative team. Mum's mental, emotional and physical care at Maes y Wennol has been excellent beyond my highest expectations.

On admittance to the care home, my Mother was unwell having been in the hospital for a number of weeks and also suffering from the loss of a son. I have always found that the majority of staff are kind, considerate, patient and caring. All the staff are polite. This home tries it's very best to provide residents with a varied selection of entertainment and activities. The kitchen staff do a great job as the food is excellent.

Having worked in Care for over twenty years (initially as a support Worker, then as a Team Leader and now for the past five years as a Chef/Cook) I am 100% committed to the provision of good nutritionally balanced meals.I take the time to speak to our residents and always provide an alternative to the menu if it’s not to their liking.
I manage the kitchen as I would my own home and ensures that all catering staff know what is expected of them so we never fail to deliver an excellent service.
