During this very difficult time, it's difficult to submit a more detailed review.
Activities for patients have obviously been very limited with clients being confined to their individual rooms.
I am hoping that once restrictions are lifted to a sustainable level, then a programme of activities can be resumed. This is a key concern for our family.
The fact that mental stimulation and general socialising been so restricted will have a massive impact on the general well-being of patients.
Of course, we understand that this is not a reflection on the staff or the home as a whole.
However, I am interested to see when the home will start to include a full day of interactions/activities and social events.
One criticism is the difficulty in responses and answers to emails and enquiries.

There have been numerous occasions where we have contacted the home via email, sometimes without any responses or replies.

Reply from Lisa Lothian, Home Manager at St Margaret's and Buccleuch Care Centres

I am sorry that you are experiencing delays in replies; we aim to rectify this issue. Our visiting is now back up and running, and activity has been ongoing all through the pandemic. Once restrictions ease further, we will indeed be back to our open house policy. Our aim has and always will be to ensure the safety of our residents and also the staff team.

Old building but warm and welcoming. Both manager/deputy manager are on the ball when I visit unannounced. Staff very friendly and caring. Mum says the staff are really nice and the food is good (she has put on weight).

Just like to thank all staff who care for my aunt. Just been to visit as we try to once a month as we love 180-200 miles away. I was pleased to see how well she is mixing with staff and residents who were all very friendly. I would like to thank all members of staff who answer the phone when I ring at least once a week and pass it on to my aunt, it is much appreciated by us both.

Thanks to you all for caring.

This is from the bottom of my heart. My father has been a resident for 8 months and your staff are Angles who love their jobs and care for families and over the last 70 hrs of my dads life these guys have been my backbone and nothing was a problem. One comment was "we have looked after your dad, now it's time for us to look after you". My dad's short time with you guys was easing and always knowing he was not on his own and looking after my mum when she was down when visiting my dad. People who live in glass houses should not throw stones. When I was down your staff lifted me up, eased the pain, never feel lonely because your staff will never leave someone on their own when needing love. I have seen shift change after shift change and coming saying good byes and then next day the heart still beats and you guys rally round with your big hearts.
I LOVE YOU GUYS TO THE MOON AND BACK THANKS XXX
