My relation was transferred to this Nursing Care Home in Spring 2021 in the middle of the Covid Pandemic. The manager and her team of staff are so kind and caring and they all go beyond their remit despite how extremely busy they all are. They ensure they deliver the highest quality of care but most
importantly in a friendly, person-centred manner. The manager is so approachable and considerate towards any requests from relatives and addresses all needs for her residents right down to the décor creating a homely setting rather than clinical. The atmosphere created by all staff is so friendly and they treat everyone with courtesy and deliver a wonderful standard of care. It makes the residents feel they are living with an extended family and they love the entertainment within the home as well as excursions out on Rickshaws, going to the "Teapot Club" within the local community, walks or pushed in wheelchairs to the park, hand massages, sing songs and many more fun activities.

My elderly, frail 91-year-old mother has been a resident within Wallace View Care Home dementia unit since May 2021. The standard of care she has been receiving is absolutely overwhelming. The Manager leads by example and demonstrates kindness, compassion, person-centeredness, and all her staff within
this establishment follow her lead and together they are a strong, united team. They treat each resident with such courtesy, dignity and respect as if it were their own relatives they were looking after. The food is amazing and cooked to perfection. The gardens are kept so neatly and the residents all appear to enjoy their surroundings. Nursing Care is also delivered to a very high standard ensuring all medical needs are met. Entertainment is also a favourite with the residents as it encourages them to socialise and the staff go beyond the call of duty to sing and dance and put on shows out in the grounds of home, weather permitting. There are also professional entertainers.

Our family member was a resident for 3 years and throughout her journey, we always saw the incredible care and attention that was given to her and all residents. Our family member needed a variety of care during her time beginning with dementia and residential care on to nursing and palliative care,
to be able to get the excellent quality of care suited to a persons needs all in the same place is one of the many reasons we would recommend Wallace View Care Home. There was always a high standard of cleanliness of both personal care and general upkeep of the rooms. The one on one contact given to each resident as well as the interaction with group activities was comforting to see knowing that when we were not visiting our loved one she was still being socially active. A thank you to all Wallace View Care Home staff for the incredible work they do.

My dad spent the last six years of his life at Wallace View. He loved his time at Wallace View and described his stay there like being in a five-star hotel. He had six very enjoyable, relaxed and safe years at the care home. The staff were incredible and went above and beyond to help not only my dad
but our family, especially in the last few months during covid. I will never be able to thank the staff enough for all they have done, and wish everyone in Wallace View all the best for the future.
Reply from Sheila Murray, Care Manager at Wallace ViewThank you for your kind review. It means so much to our staff that their hard work and dedication is recognised.

My dad went into the home for palliative care at the end of his life. He was treated with the utmost respect and dignity. The ladies were brilliant with him and made his last weeks of life very comfortable. I was lucky to be allowed to see him whenever I wanted and for as long as I wanted, which was
a blessing to me. They treated me with respect and were always asking if I needed anything. I was lucky to be with my dad at the end and can't thank the ladies enough for looking after my dad and myself, because of them he had a good death and I will be eternally grateful to them. Thanks ladies.

Went to visit my mum for her Xmas party and what a fantastic day we all had! Everyone in Xmas jumpers, beautiful decorations, then a great sing-song and dancing and to top it all off, a visit from Santa. The activities co-ordinator deserves a medal! Well done.

Mother has settled in extremely well, the previous care home was closing down and had resided there for 7 years. General maintenance engineer helped immensely t prepare the room to make it home from home. After the initial getting to know you settling in period she now feels she has always lived there
and enjoys the banter with the staff. The only issue is the noise of the alarms still unsure what the sounds is and confused it with a phone ringing.

Was seen in private about my Mum's progress. Did not have many issues. The one I did have was taken on board and rectified. Staff and manager are approachable and always ready to listen or chat to. Next review will be March 2019. Have no problem recommending Wallace View to anyone who needs their facilities.

My aunt has been here for 7 months and her care has been fantastic. The staff are very friendly. There is a great food choice. Even though my aunt does not want to be part of the entertainment the variety is excellent. She has her hair done weekly and a pedicure and manicure regularly. My aunt is very
happy.

Firstly I must say that I have no experience of other care homes so have nothing to compare Wallace View against.
Overall I find the home very welcoming and all residents appear to be treated with great care and attention.
My main complaint would be the laundry facilities. This is an ongoing problem
re getting the right clothes back to the individual residents which I know management are trying to sort out.
Otherwise, I am happy for my wife to be resident there.

When it was decided that our aunt needed 24-hour care, my sister and I were concerned about finding her a suitable home that would accommodate her particular needs. We have been so pleased that we chose Wallace View. The staff are attentive, caring and focused on enabling our aunt to live as good a
life as she can. We heartily recommend Wallace View.

I feel more training etc needs to be done regarding blind people.
My Gran is in the home, she's blind and it's things like the cleaner putting the bin back in the wrong place, carers moving Gran's cream etc that's upsetting Gran.
She has everything where she knows it is and when it's not where she
leaves it, she gets upset.
Oral hygiene needs to be pushed to make sure it's done daily as Gran's hasn't been getting done.
She can go a day or two without her teeth getting cleaned.
Reply from Jackie Hallewell, Marketing at Wallace ViewThank you for your review. We are currently undertaking oral hygiene training with all of our staff, but appreciate you raising the matter. We are holding supervisions and meetings with all of our staff to ensure our residents needs come first. We currently have 1 resident who is visually impaired, but is independent with supervision. Please do not hesitate to come into the home and talk to the Manager about your concerns.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.434)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.434) out of 10 for Wallace View is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 11 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.742 for Wallace View is calculated as follows: ( (96 Excellents x 5) + (31 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 128 Ratings = 4.742
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.692 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Wallace View is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 = 3.775
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12. 11 Positive Reviews ÷ 12 = 0.917
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
