Our family couldn't be happier with the care that Dad has received since he moved into Orchardhead House in December. All of the staff are lovely, the surroundings beautiful and facilities top notch. Dad is very settled here and we are happy that he is being given the best care possible. In a wider
sense, there is a profound understanding of the dementia journey, which helps to guide our changing relationship with Dad. It is great to be his children again, rather than his carers.

Always kept well informed and up to date with activities and events at the home. Staff go out their way to involve the family with event sand special moments e.g. video calling myself to share my Aunt's delight at having carol singers and a piper playing for her. I am so impressed with the care my Aunt
gets. She has nothing but praise for them and is so thankful to them. The home puts the residents first and foremost and looks after them admirably. Thank you Orchardhead.

Our experience of Otahcardhead has always been positive. Mum-in-law spent 3 happy years here and now we have placed mum in there excellent care. The staff are all very experienced and caring and have made mums transition as painless as possible. The management and staff have also supported my sister
and I in what was an incredibly difficult decision. But mum is safe, clean, entertained on 24-hour basis.

My mother has been at Orchardhead House for three months now and it gives us huge comfort to know that she is safe and well cared for. The staff are lovely, always there with a smile and are quick to address any requests/concerns. She has settled in very well and both her physical and mental well-being
seems to have picked up reflecting the standard of care. I would happily recommend Orchardhead House.

Having watched my mother seamlessly slip into Orchardhead, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend others to relocate there.
Not only are the facilities top class, the staff excel in their approach to the residents.
It is a huge weight off the minds of myself and my siblings knowing that our beloved mother
has found a new home that has put a smile on her face.
A big thank you to everyone involved in this successful project.

My Mum has recently had flu and pneumonia. She became ill very quickly. It was noticed that she was becoming unwell and the staff were very vigilant and called an ambulance quickly. The staff are always patient and caring. Nothing is too much trouble. They know food preferences and individualise each
meal.

Orchardhead House has been home to my grandmother for almost a decade and in that time they have been exemplary in her care. All of the staff were friendly and treated my grandmother like a family member. This can be highlighted most in the last few months where my grandmother's health severely deteriorated.
They attended hospital with her. Always kept me up to date as I live in England and when her illness was seen to be terminal, brought my grandmother back to Orchardhead House and her home. They provided care above and beyond the residential home status and she was cared for with respect, dignity and love. I would have no reservation in recommending Orchardhead House to any resident or family member prospective. I cannot fault them. Thank you all for your wonderful care.

My mother was a resident of Orchardhead House for over 9 years. Throughout the entire period, I have nothing but praise for everyone there who worked above and beyond to provide the best service, support, and experience for the residents. Family members were welcome at any time and the surroundings
were always clean and fresh smelling. Although Orchardhead House is not a nursing home I am deeply grateful to everyone who insisted that my mother should be cared for at home in her final days. It is not possible to convey how much our family appreciated this. Orchardhead House is I believe based on almost a decade of experience the best residential home it is possible to get. Others should aspire to reach this level.

We chose this care home for my aged mother (92), she had dementia and was getting frail and unable to cope in her own home. What a tremendous help and blessing she experienced in moving to Orchardhead House. The very best of comfort and care. The staff not only cared for mum but also cared about mum.
We were amazed at the patience, attention, personal care, hygiene, food standards and choices, activities etc. Really quite brilliant and the family are so grateful to the staff in this care home.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.942) out of 10 for Orchardhead House Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 22 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.942 for Orchardhead House Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (246 Excellents x 5) + (11 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 259 Ratings = 4.942
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Orchardhead House Residential Care Home is based on 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 34 registered maximum number of service users is 6.8, which has been reached with 22 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
