Reviews

9.8 Scoonie House has a Review Score of 9.8 (9.789)

The Review Score of 9.8 (maximum of 10) for Scoonie House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Scoonie House in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.817 for Scoonie House is calculated as follows: ( (77 Excellents x 5) + (15 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 93 Ratings = 4.817

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.972 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Scoonie House is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 7.2 positive Reviews (36 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 7 Reviews ÷ 7.2 Target = 0.972

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

This is my second review of my mother's care at Scoonie House following yet another respite stay there. The staff are just wonderful to her and she is very happy there. The whole family are delighted about how she has settled to having respite stays at Scoonie House and I am delighted with all aspects of the service. Having confidence in knowing my mother's needs are being met, allows me to holiday with my grandchildren without any worries about her being upset or difficult (which she can be). I understand that each home is different but for me when I go to Scoonie House, it feels like someone such as my Mum has arrived home as opposed to going to a home. Formality is replaced by a warm welcome. Last time I took her there she was whisked off to join others for lunch - during the short period while I took her bag to her room, she had settled to talking to others at the table to the extent she just offhandedly waved me goodbye. That is what I call a result!

Mum moved into Scoonie House in October 2004. From the first day, the staff treated her with warmth and dignity. She was cared for to a high standard. The management and her team do a wonderful job and I would strongly recommend to people looking for a care home.

Scoonie is an excellent home with very friendly and helpful staff.
We have just had my aunts 100th birthday at Scoonie organised by a member of staff - a great job and provided organised publicity and visits by councillors.

My dad has been a resident at the home for almost 2 years. In that time my dad has loved every minute. He is well looked after in all aspects of care, his meals and cleanliness of his room and the home itself is immaculate. My husband and myself are always made welcome, it's like a big family. Brilliant.

A 90th birthday tea party had been arranging for the female resident, but the usual visiting hairdresser to the home was ill and my relative's hair was badly in need of styling for the 'big day'. One of the regular care staff offered her skills and on the morning of the party took time to wash and style my relative's hair in the home's hairdressing room at no extra charge, even though the end result was every bit as good as that of a professional hairdresser: an illustration of the commitment to care of the staff at Scoonie House.

Every member of staff assisted in the settling in of our friend, and this was achieved very quickly with their help. It is reassuring that our friend's wellbeing is obviously paramount to them as any health concerns are addressed swiftly and we are updated constantly. The staff are very caring, understanding and patient with the residents and the excellent rapport they have with them all is evident. They are always so friendly and helpful to us and willingly give their time no matter what is asked of them or how busy they are.
