Reviews

8.1 Strathview has a Review Score of 8.1 (8.100)

The Review Score of 8.1 (maximum of 10) for Strathview is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 10 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Strathview in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.7 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.45 for Strathview is calculated as follows: ( (67 Excellents x 5) + (43 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 120 Ratings = 4.45

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 3.65 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Strathview is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 = 3.25

    2. Target of 5 positive Reviews (25 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 2 Reviews ÷ 5 Target = 0.400

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My mother had stayed at a 'sister' home of Strathview (Scoonie House) which my mother was very happy to return to for respite However, there were no respite places available which resulted in my contacting Strathview for her 20 day period of respite. Both homes are excellent which to me says a lot about the Caring Homes Group. Their staff are obviously well selected and trained appropriately. Regarding Strathview in particular my mother loved the views from the window and could not praise the staff highly enough. My mother was there over Xmas and was made very happy. When I or my brother were visiting we both commented on the the staff being exceptionally pleasant and the home well run. I had reason to 'phone today about a financial aspect of my mother's care which I had been reluctant to pursue as all the staff had been so kind to my mother. I need not have worried - I could not have had a better response to my call. Five stars+ from a very happy reviewer.

All the care staff are friendly and approachable. I find the level of care given to my parents to be very good. I know the home has been understaffed and the staff have been stretched a bit lately. Hopefully, when the positions are filled it will make it easier for everyone. The residents have missed out slightly on their activities whilst the coordinator was going through further training. On the whole very happy with the home.

The staff are always informative, professional and friendly. They are always aware where my parents are and what they have been doing. We get regular updates on the health of my mum and dad.
There always seems to be plenty of organised activities. The home is always spotlessly clean.
I am safe in the knowledge that my mum and dad are being well catered for.

Welcoming and friendly staff, good security. Choice of rooms for socialising including a quiet room for those who might prefer this. Lovely garden area with a bird feeder. I am unable to visit my mum often. The care home manager sought me out on my visit and with mum present gave me an update on her care package and general well being.
Mum is very well looked after and always looks comfortable, well presented and at ease with the staff. Her room is attractive and overlooks the garden.

I visit Strathview every week. I find all the carers without exception very understanding of those in their care. I myself have been involved with caring for the elderly so I have a good idea of what is required. Compassion, patience and above all a sense of humour! I find the atmosphere in Strathview very calming and friendly. This has a very positive effect on the residents and staff alike.

Mum had visited Strathview on two occasions and the experience was really positive. However, when Mum stayed there in April 2015 I had a few concerns. When I visited a few days into her stay I was concerned to find her hair had obviously not been washed since her arrival which staff told me was because her shampoo had not been packed. Whilst I'm not sure this is true, in any case, I would reasonably expect the staff to either use some spare shampoo, or to have contacted my father to request some! More concerningly, the staff seemed to be quite stressed. The manager looked as if she really couldn't be bothered to speak with me and one staff member told me "I'm glad we're not fully booked here because it's bad enough as it is." She told me they were really short staffed. Perhaps someone was off sick and it was a one-off experience; however the situation just didn't leave me feeling assured that my Mum was receiving the best care and so we decided to use another home for future respite.
