Overall Experience
The staff are always informative, professional and friendly. They are always aware where my parents are and what they have been doing. We get regular updates on the health of my mum and dad.
There always seems to be plenty of organised activities. The home is always spotlessly clean.

I am safe in the knowledge that my mum and dad are being well catered for.

Welcoming and friendly staff, good security. Choice of rooms for socialising including a quiet room for those who might prefer this. Lovely garden area with a bird feeder. I am unable to visit my mum often. The care home manager sought me out on my visit and with mum present gave me an update on her care package and general well being.

Mum is very well looked after and always looks comfortable, well presented and at ease with the staff. Her room is attractive and overlooks the garden.

Overall Experience

I visit Strathview every week. I find all the carers without exception very understanding of those in their care. I myself have been involved with caring for the elderly so I have a good idea of what is required. Compassion, patience and above all a sense of humour! I find the atmosphere in Strathview very calming and friendly. This has a very positive effect on the residents and staff alike.

Overall Experience

Mum had visited Strathview on two occasions and the experience was really positive. However, when Mum stayed there in April 2015 I had a few concerns. When I visited a few days into her stay I was concerned to find her hair had obviously not been washed since her arrival which staff told me was because her shampoo had not been packed. Whilst I'm not sure this is true, in any case, I would reasonably expect the staff to either use some spare shampoo, or to have contacted my father to request some! More concerningly, the staff seemed to be quite stressed. The manager looked as if she really couldn't be bothered to speak with me and one staff member told me "I'm glad we're not fully booked here because it's bad enough as it is." She told me they were really short staffed. Perhaps someone was off sick and it was a one-off experience; however the situation just didn't leave me feeling assured that my Mum was receiving the best care and so we decided to use another home for future respite.

Meet the Team (1)

Abi Rose-Armstrong
Abi Rose-ArmstrongJob Title:Home Manager

I have worked at Strathview for more than 10 years and, prior to that, cared for my mum and worked in the private care sector.

At Strathview, I’ve worked my way up from administrator to deputy Manager and finally home manager so I know the team well. I have always worked very closely with my team which is very important to me.

As a small home, it’s vital that we support each other and work well as a team. Every member of the team knows they can speak to me whenever they may need to and the same goes for our residents and their families.

I enjoy seeing how even just the smallest interaction on a daily basis can lighten someone’s face and make a difference. I work with people who have given their all to everyone around them and now it is their time to be looked after.

I personally feel that development and training is very important for both the team and myself – every day is a school day! I am proactive in supporting my team to take up all the opportunities provided as we want to be able to offer the best experience possible to our residents, delivering quality care.
