Fernlea House

Since my brother has been a resident (3 months) my family cannot speak highly enough of both management and care staff. They ensure medication and medical treatment (external - doctors, dentists, audio) is administered on time without fail. All staff communicate well and show patience and understanding. The meals are varied and healthy, no complaints from my brother speaks volumes! I and my family visit 6/7 days per week and agree that more care staff, notably at weekends would be of benefit. I'll finish by reiterating once again all staff do sterling work.

The home is always so clean and tidy and well looked after.

My gran has a new lease of life and is enjoying trips out and sitting with new friends.

My mum spent almost 3 years at Fernlea. She had dementia that progressed during her time there. She never wanted to be in care and although she had many good days in Fernlea, there were also times when it was a challenge for both her and the care staff. Despite that, she was always treated with care and dignity and all the staff, carers, cleaners, office staff and workmen took time to get to know her and spend time with her. While she was able to, she enjoyed many of the actiivies and trips out. The staff obviously had to ensure she was safe, but also enabled her to be herself and do her own thing whenever they could. They all have my grateful thanks for the excellent way she was cared for in her last few days. I couldn't have wished for more. I visited my mum often, and experienced the warmth and generosity of the staff when I visited. I was always welcomed, kept well informed of my mum's care and health and treated with real kindness. Thank you all.

I cannot praise and thank the staff enough in how they looked after mum and especially how they helped us in my mum's last weeks.

My dad has only been at Fernlea for a couple of weeks but the staff have gone out of their way to make him feel at home. He got his hair cut today and was so happy showing me on face time. We live in the US and yesterday he was wanting a glass of lemonade and I emailed to see if one if the girls could buy him a bottle at the store and literally in 5 mins I got a message from him with his bottle of lemonade! Its hard being so far away but the staff here have gone out of their way to make my dad happy and settled. I am a nurse practitioner and Natasha and her staff have been on the ball with any medical needs such as a recent blood draw and medication questions. I am so relieved and happy he is here.

I have had a good experience at Fernlea. I have noticed a big difference in my mum since I requested a different room for her. She is happier and more communicative. The staff are really friendly and take good care of her, myself and the rest of the family are happy with her care.

They met all his needs whilst maintaining his independence & dignity. What an amazing place for care, our first experience and we won't forget the kindness towards Dad.

Fernlea Care Home is a truly wonderful place, and I could not recommend it highly enough. From the moment you arrive, the home feels welcoming, clean, and inviting. The environment is always well cared for and thoughtfully maintained, which creates a calm and comfortable atmosphere for residents and us as a family. What makes Fernlea so special, however, is the people who work there. The staff show genuine care, compassion, and patience every single day. They take the time to really know each resident as an individual and treat everyone with dignity and respect. My dad received the kindest attention during his time there, and it was so clear how much he valued the relationships he built, particularly with certain members of the team who went above and beyond to make him feel comfortable and cared for. As a family, we always felt reassured knowing he was in such good hands. The support and kindness shown to us was also deeply appreciated. We highly recommend Fernlea.

I find Fernlea House a fantastic place, I couldn't be more happier with the care that my aunt receives. She is always clean and tidy when I visit. There are activities every day, and the residents are always happy. The staff are always on hand to answer any questions I might have and every one of them is lovely and very competent at their job.

The professionalism of the staff is outstanding in Fernlea. My mother absolutely loves being in residence there and myself and family and over the moon. The constant updates on the app is amazing watching them all enjoy their activities and entertainment. We had a quiz and raffle night a couple weeks ago where my cousin came down to sing for them all and we had the residents up dancing and watching the joy in their faces was lovely. I can 100% wholehearted say that they do a wonderful job looking after their residents.

The home is wonderful! There is a friendly welcoming atmosphere. The carers are most professional very helpful and always willing to assist - no job is too big or too small and always with a smile on their face.the home is efficiently run and kept very clean. The meals are good, varied and good sized portions. We are happy with our choice of Fernlea House.

Mum went into the care home in April 2023. She was well looked after right up until she lost her fight on 27th December. The carers that were finishing their shift on the Tuesday came in to say goodbye to her which was very touching. I would like to say thanks to all the carers for all they do and what they have to put up with. They are the unsung heroes of the care service and deserve medals for their dedication.

Overall, as the daughter of a resident in Fernlea, I am very happy with the level of care my mother receives. Staff are absolutely fantastic, nothing is too much for them. There is always something going on for the residents. Arts and crafts, outings, singers, themed days etc. The food is fantastic. A very food variety of food. Again they celebrate all the different occasions and provide the food to complement them too.

Overall, we are very happy with the standard of care he has received. There is a homely atmosphere and we always feel welcome to visit. My stepfather has had several individuals visiting him and we have received positive feedback from them all.

I have had no complaints and am still very grateful for how my mum is treated in the home.

I've been visiting my life-long friend in Fernlea House Care Home for the past two years she's been there. Since new ownership, I am really impressed by the improvements made, for me especially, the new quiet room where I was able to sit with my friend, decor etc. lovely in her own room, however, windows are too high for her to see out and see what's going on. Even with dementia, this area was good for us. Thank you for making the care home a lovely place to be.
