I can’t recommend Kirk House highly enough. The home has a lovely atmosphere, it is bright and the rooms are some of the best I have seen. The staff are helpful and take great care of the residents. We know that our family member is in safe hands, known and well looked after which brings us so much reassurance. Generally, it does feel to be best for residents who still have a degree of independence and autonomy (although it also has Memory Lane which is designed for residents with Dementia).

Kirk House provides a wonderful service that promotes independence while having the security of staff in attendance 24 hours and meals provided. In my experience, the staff engage with my mother with kindness, patience and humour, which means a lot to her and makes all the difference to her sense of worth, dignity and general quality of life. The managers are also patient with family members and the staff are polite and friendly (we can be a pain at times). I think there has been a change of chef and I sense that the menu and food available has improved. Communication is good. Some of the rules during Covid that in effect have restricted liberty, seem illogical and unnecessary, but I understand these may have been imposed from elsewhere and the staff has worked hard to prevent the spread of illness.

I would highly recommend Kirk House, my mother has been a resident for nearly 3 years, the staff have been excellent in looking after all mum's needs along with keeping her involved in all the activities. She has felt like part of an extended family and the staff have made myself and my brother feel very supported and very welcome at every visit. I would like to thank everyone for all their care and attention.

My mum has been a resident in Kirk House now for four years. The staff have been excellent in identifying and caring for her needs and making her feel at home. This has been especially the case over the last 12 months of the pandemic. We are all extremely grateful that she is being so well cared for.

The care manager and her team have conducted themselves brilliantly throughout the pandemic, thus ensuring the health and safety of residents. Every effort has been made to facilitate visits by family members, communication has been excellent and individual enquiries dealt with efficiently. In particular, the roll-out of the vaccination programme has been first class. I am confident that my mother is in good hands and have no hesitation in recommending Kirk House as an exceptional care home.

I have been so thankful that my mum has been in Kirk House during this covid pandemic. She has been settled and cared for. They have great ensuite bedrooms and bright spaces. I feel the management have done a lot to enable family contact by building visiting pods and enabling the care partner scheme. I find the staff friendly and appreciate the efforts to care for those with dementia.

Just to say how much I and my siblings admire and appreciate how splendidly the management and staff team of Kirk House have responded to the Covid-19 pandemic. They have not only continued to care for residents with their usual high standards in very difficult circumstances but also made great efforts to keep relatives in contact with their loved ones.

We had Kirk House as our number one care home in East Belfast when we were trying to place our granny. We have found it caring, supportive and progressive - especially during this pandemic year. The staff and management have gone over and above what they needed to do, making sure that our family member was safe and finding creative ways to allow us to continue seeing her, even if through a window! The home is clean, comfortable, the staff are friendly and we appreciate their humanity and empathy with our gran.

During this difficult time with Covid-19, it is astonishing to see that the standards of care have been upheld throughout. This is due to the extraordinary staff team and their managers who have gone (and continue to go) the extra mile to ensure that everyone is kept safe and well. I cannot speak highly enough of the care, compassion and kindness shown to my dear mum, who is very content and happy.

I have been here only a few weeks, but find all personnel courteous and helpful. The food is very good, in fact we get nearly too much. But then at my age and lack of outdoor activity, my appetite is not so keen. I am a little hard of hearing and find some of the foreign staff hard to make out - but they are very patient with me. To date, I have no grounds of complaint on any aspect of the care provided. One thing I find wrong is excessive use of lighting during daylight. Bad carbon footprint.

My mother has lived in Kirk House now for the last 4 years and I have nothing but praise for the manager and her team for the care and support that Mum receives.
Although she is now showing quite a few signs of dementia my mum is still treated with great dignity and respect by all the staff she has contact with.

I would definitely recommend Kirk House for anybody having to consider the anguishing step of putting an elderly relative into care.

We are all so thankful our relative got a place here when she did. She has vascular dementia but settled in well and the staff are all amazing so kind and patient, pleasant, helpful and friendly. Kirk House is truly a home from home. There are lots of activities and outings and the residents have a say in all that goes on. The relatives meetings are helpful too and the staff listen to any concerns or ideas we might have. Everyone, residents and friends/relatives are treated with respect.
