My father was very happy in Acron Lodge. He knew and trusted his nurses and carers. They are patient, kind and welcomed. He enjoyed taking part in the activities when he first arrived and he although his health gradually declined, there was always something to occupy him.

For the 5-6 years, my late mother was there as a bed-bound patient, I can only say the love, care and attention she received was second to none and without a doubt made her final years a period of happiness and dignity.

I cannot praise the staff and nurses highly enough.

My family and I can not praise the office staff and carers at this home highly enough.
My aunt was in Acorn Lodge for over 5 years until her death in January 2018.

The home is clean, has a lovely atmosphere and the staff are kind.
I can not think of one negative thing to say.

Thank you, Acorn

Lodge.

This care home was outstanding for my Mum who recently passed away. My dad is still a resident here, he is happy. Activities are second to none. There is always someone to talk to, to raise concerns with. Space in the garden is lovely in the summer. Rooms clean. All staff are fabulous and friendly.

My husband spent the last 3 years of his life in the above-named care home. I felt he was getting excellent care at all times. The staff were wonderful in every way. They were very supportive to me at all times. The media only reports bad press, it's about time someone speaks of the great care that
is out there for the residents and family.

My Uncle has been at Acorn Lodge for over a year. He is bed-bound after a stroke. The care and professional help he receives is amazing! The staff care about their residents and their individual needs. I feel happy and know that my Uncle is safe and looked after by wonderful staff.

Dad has been here for 5 years and we are very happy with the service. The home is kept to a very good standard from the care my dad receives to the cleanliness of the entire home. Though Dad does not take part in the activities there, there is a lot available.

During my mother's stay at Acorn Lodge, the staff were caring, courteous and sensitive to both my mother's and the family's needs.
Family and friends felt comfortable spending long periods of time with her and we felt secure leaving her at the end of the day - we knew she was safe and well cared for.
Although equipment was not always the latest, it was clean, as were the rooms, laundry, bedding etc.
Mum was treated humanely and with dignity to the end.

Mum's place was self funded and we felt that the care was good value. I would recommend Acorn Lodge.

Myself and family visited Acorn Lodge regularly to see my brother, who was having palliative care at the home. Sadly he passed away recently, after being in the home for the last twelve months and in all that time he was totally happy with all the care they gave him. He looked on them as his friends
as well as his carers.
This made life more bearable to us, knowing he was in such a wonderful place.
Heartfelt thanks to all the staff that cared for my brother, and family until he passed away in April.

Current Review Score: 8.3 (8.318)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.3 (8.318) out of 10 for Acorn Lodge Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.6 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.745 for Acorn Lodge Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (35 Excellents x 5) + (12 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 47 Ratings = 4.745
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.573 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Acorn Lodge Care Centre is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 101 registered maximum number of service users is 20.2. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 20.2 = 0.198
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
