Please don't send your loved ones here. In my opinion, this Centre is one of the worst. This place is terrible, the senior staff and management are shockingly terrible. The blind leading the blind. We made a number of complaints to them highlighting a number of serious matters and issues, swept under the carpet is the phrase that comes to mind. The management team side with each other, they try to cover up mistakes at the cost of affecting the care they are supposed to be giving residents. It comes across as they do not care about the residents. If you do place your loved one here, my advice is to ask for policy and procedures on everything, because the staff make it up. They hate it if you challenge them and hold them accountable, they hate it if you stick up for your loved one. You've been warned. Look elsewhere.

It is regrettable that such a negative view of our Centre and the care of one of our residents is still held by you, especially given the time and effort that was given at the time, to address any concerns with you.

Always a friendly welcome from reception staff. Now there's a permanent nurse in charge on the relative's level, kept up to date a bit more with relatives' needs.
The waiting time for answering the buzzer is still very poor, (when the buzzer is working).

Needs to be more for able residents to do during the day. Rooms could be updated ie windows etc. Needs improvement on food served.

Reply from Steve Winter, Centre Director at The Chiswick Nursing Centre

Thank You for your review. Your comments regards food presentation are noted and being addressed. As you will know, we have discussed the buzzer and its operation several times already and I have reassured you that it is fully operational and working - we monitor response times and can confirm that...

Avoid at all costs! I took an elderly friend to the Chiswick Nursing Centre last week to convalesce after an operation. Once we had gone up in the filthy lift, we were shown a small room where the bed had to be moved to let the wheelchair in. There were grubby net curtains up, hairs in the tired shower, and the amount of dirt on the tv control was ridiculous.

She was not offered a shower for 4 days. Fine dining is advertised on the website. Fish cake or sausage roll with baked beans followed by a yoghurt pot. Sheets were not changed in the 5 days. Physiotherapy lasted 10 minutes. Her medication was not looked at or asked for - so dangerous as she was on morphine. The website is very misleading. All this for £1700 a week! A chain hotel would have been better!

I am sorry to read your review of the service that your friend received.
It is vastly at odds with her own description when I contacted and met with her to understand her plans to leave. She was very complimentary about the Physiotherapy service and the physiotherapist.

I am very happy to speak...

The whole place is run so well. The nurses are always there to help with any concerns or queries. They are always fully staffed and happy staff. There's always the same faces, which is so important in dementia care. I love it there. It's such a hard time having someone you love in a nursing home. They make it such a better experience. I'm always made to feel welcome and the care my dad gets there is outstanding.

I went to Chiswick from hospital after a knee replacement. The pre-arrival discussion was very clear and helpful. The staff were just amazing. Really kind. Attentive. Physio was brilliant. Just what I needed post-op. The rooms need a bit of modernising but cleaned well. Very joined-up service. With hydro, it would be my first choice.

Thank you for your kind review of The Chiswick Nursing Centre. I am pleased that we were able to help and support your needs at this time. Your point with regards to room modernisation is noted and we just await the lifting of covid restrictions that will enable our contractors to attend and address those issues. My wife has been in The Chiswick Nursing Centre for 6 years. One reason I chose it is that it has nurses. Another reason is that it has therapists.
One night maybe 3 years ago, a nurse on her rounds noticed my wife wasn't breathing properly. I was impressed by this and the next day visited my wife in hospital.

My one criticism of The Chiswick Nursing Centre is that there's a quick turnover of carers. This means that new carers aren't familiar with my wife's needs and get things wrong eg her hand splint.

Reply from Steve Winter, Centre Director at The Chiswick Nursing Centre

Thank you for your positive review. I am pleased to reply that our turnover of carers is much improved across the last 8 months and that we now have good continuity of care. This definitely helps with the issues that your review described.

My father has been a resident at The Chiswick Nursing Centre for more than four years. I chose The Chiswick Nursing Centre for a variety of reasons. Apart from relative convenience for me, I was impressed by the centre manager and the overall facilities. The standard of the home compared very favourably to many others that we saw.
During the last four years, my father has been comfortable and well looked after. As his needs have changed and grown, The Chiswick Nursing Centre has been able to adapt. My father is now resident in the Buckingham Suite, for those suffering from dementia. He is well looked after by the experienced suite manager and the caring staff. He has been looked after by some excellent staff over the years.

Occasionally there have been issues but I am pleased at the responsive way management has responded to any concerns. They are always open to discussions and receptive to feedback. I am happy to recommend The Chiwisk Nursing Centre to those needing care, especially where needs are likely to change over time.

I am extremely happy with the care my brother is receiving in The Chiswick Nursing Centre and am confident his care is being managed sympathetically and professionally. I have been kept up to date with his situation and what is happening in the centre throughout the summer of 2020. He is a long term resident of the centre and I have come to know many of the staff while visiting him and have nothing but praise for the caring way they manage his difficulties and how the centre is run.

My wife, who suffers from advanced Alzheimer's, has been a resident since December 2018. Inevitably, given her sad condition, she is not always the easiest of patients to deal with. However, I have been very impressed by the care she has received since her arrival. Until COVID struck I visited almost daily and she invariably presented as clean and well turned-out. This continues to be the case. One of the reasons I initially chose The Chiswick Nursing Centre was that the food was cooked on the premises. This has turned out to be a good decision - although unable to communicate her enjoyment verbally, my wife consumes her meals with evident enjoyment. Most importantly, I have found the staff and management friendly and approachable and very quick to deal with any problems that arise or any questions that I may have. Overall, I have been very satisfied with The Chiswick Nursing Centre. I would not hesitate to recommend it to someone in a similar position to myself.

My mother has been resident for nearly 5 years. We have been very satisfied with her clinical and pastoral care over this period. The whole team at The Chiswick Nursing Centre (catering, domestic, maintenance and admin as well as care staff) are totally friendly, responsive and supportive. Throughout the pandemic, we have been confident that The Chiswick Nursing Centre have been providing the best possible care in the most difficult circumstances.

My sister (86) was admitted to this home during the virus crisis. She was very frail.
The staff have been so caring and compassionate. When we were worried about her the manager spoke with my brother and I and arranged a video visit!
My sister told us the carers were so kind and that the food was wonderful. The staff meet her every need and she feels that nothing is too much trouble for them. There are doctors and nurses and a physiotherapist who helps her daily.
By video, we have seen the emails she gets and are jealous!
The staff keep us advised of her progress and the Manager is always happy to speak with us if we need anything answered.
Next week we will visit her for the 1st time and cannot wait to meet these caring folk whom we feel we already know so well.

This home was a lucky find in a time of need.

This is a very HONEST review. The Manager is a really nice guy and asked me to review the home on this website. My Brother was a resident at this home until he died in January this year.
The care is amazing. The staff team are remarkable and committed to great care beyond what I could have wanted for my Brother. Nothing was ever too much trouble and the nurses were so patient with him especially at the end of his albeit too short life.
My family will always miss my Brother - but they will always be grateful for the care, patience and kindness which this home showed to him and all of us at such a difficult time.
I am VERY happy to review this home and wouldn't have known that I could do it until the Manager told me about this website.
He deserves credit for such a great team of people.

PLEASE keep up the good work.

My mum has recently received amazing home from home respite care at the Windsor floor, we wanted to write this in case it can help others.

Mum has struggled after cancer treatments and side effects. Mum arrived at her 2weeks stay in a weak, fragile state. The room, facilities (day and dining rooms), carers, servery staff, food, the receptionist were all amazing. Staff went above and beyond to make mum/our family feel welcome. Mum received such high levels of care she has recuperated and is stronger than we ever imagined, we are so grateful to the staff on the Windsor floor for their support. The transformation within 2 weeks has been impressive - mum was even reluctant to go home which is a testament to the brilliant care she received! Huge thanks to the staff for your kindness to mum and our whole family! Even my 3-year-old son has loved visiting his grandma at her 'hotel'. All we can say is thank you all very much - mum received the care and rest she needed to recoup and return home.

My Mother was a patient here in December 2017 - January 2018 until she sadly past away. My family and I cannot thank the staff enough - words cannot express how much care and love they showed to her in her final days of a very painful illness.

The nurses were terrific and full of compassion. The food was superb and we were always offered meals whenever we visited. This made my Mum feel that she could still eat with us despite her illness. Staff work so hard here that they should get a medal. The Manager was compassionate and even attended my mums funeral. Thank you Chiswick Nursing!

Review from Jeremy L (Cousin of Resident) published on 7 January 2016 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My cousin was a resident at The Chiswick Nursing Centre from January 2014 until his death in October 2014. It was not easy to persuade the authorities at that time to allow me to place him at The Chiswick due to a previous, negative report by the CQC dating back a couple of years. However with the help of various individuals it was made possible.

I am so glad we fought as hard as we did to have him placed at The Chiswick because the staff there more than lived up to my expectations of how one should care for the elderly; he certainly never had cause for complaint.

During his stay, I visited him on a weekly basis and always found him to be in good spirits - he seemed very content with his new home and with those helping him at the Centre. In September 2014, my cousin's health deteriorated markedly and it became clear that his life was coming to an end. During that time the care and devotion that was shown towards him by all of the staff at The Chiswick was a great comfort to all his family and friends and for which I give my wholehearted thanks.
