Was first time here to see my friend. I have been to other care homes but this one stood out a mile. How clean the home was. The staff was all very friendly and can see that they care. Just want to thank them all. A very good run home.

No compassion, like a prison, no salon or cafe, don't get taken out, stuck in room all day, even at meal times at a table on their own, no communication with anybody. Not showered or washed, left in urinated and messy clothes for weeks at a time. Not changed into bed clothes at night, slept in same clothes and shoes. Toenails hadn't been cut for at least 8 months, have photos of this. Constantly complaining but it goes over manager's head. Tried with social services for months to get him moved from this place. Pure neglect, went in a size 38, came out a size 32.

Clothes, phone, money, watch etc all went missing. Time on his clock was changed to confuse him more. The list goes on. I would not let them look after my dog, let alone a human being.

I am very happy to be here. Everyone is kind, considerate and looks after my every need. If you have a parent or grandparent who needs looking after, this is the place to be. All is well and I keep happy all of the time. If I could help others to feel more happy - I would.

My stepfather was in a different care home before Farm Lane and I was very unhappy. Since he has moved here I have been so content and overwhelmed with the quality and professional standard of care not just that but the well-managed and well-trained staff this home has from management to care staff this home is 10/10. I’m truly grateful for all the dedication and hard work which has gone into this home, so much warmth and support to him and to us as his family. Admiration goes out to all who work there.

All family members are very happy with the care service offered to my friend who assures us she's happy and cared for well. This is reflected in her disposition when we all visit. Since taking up residence at Farm Lane it's been good both for her and us as there is peace of mind with regards to her care and wellbeing. She is vegetarian and has no complaints about her diet. We thank you all for your combined efforts in caring for our family who will reach 100 years of age this October and well looked after.

My mother suffers from Parkinsons' Disease and has some dementia which means she needs to be in a place of safety. As a family, we have found all the staff at Farm Lane to be very caring and friendly and always willing to help and listen to any concerns we might have regarding our mother's health.

We are allowed to decorate and fill our mother's room with pictures and any furniture she might want to make her feel at home. The dining room has a nice atmosphere and there is a lounge if any of the residents would like to meet up and watch television. There are also activities, coffee mornings and regular monthly family meetings for the residents' family members should anyone wish to attend. Our mother has been at Farm Lane for nearly 2 years and has always been well cared for.

Very rude management staff, no respect for visitors, spoken to like children. Two female staff very aggressive when spoken to about concerns. During the last two months visiting the manageress has been hostile and very rude.

PS - there are two very good members of staff.

When I viewed Farm Lane I wanted somewhere, clean, fresh smelling, friendly and with a comfortable homely feel where my Dad would be well looked after. Farm Lane achieved this.
Staff were always respectful, kind and treated my Dad with dignity. They always took the time to inform us and answer any questions we had about what he had been like throughout the day,
On several occasions, staff would be singing with him as they were helping him in his room. I realised that the staff were doing an amazing job in difficult circumstances and on the odd occasion when it was harder to find someone it was probably because they were needing to give another person the same level of care my Dad needed (he sometimes needed 3 carers to assist him).
There is a weekly programme of activities but I don't know much about them.
The lounge, dining area and gardens are beautiful communal spaces for residents to enjoy. Tea, coffee and snacks are readily available.

Very happy to recommend Farm Lane.

My mother has dementia and is being beautifully looked after at Farm Lane. It was not an easy start, which I know must have severely tested the staff but they all were so professional and showed nothing but kindness, patience and great understanding toward both my mother and to us as her family.
The home is obviously well run with great attention to detail and it would be nice if the correct manager's name could be put on the website.

My mother is settling in now and as a family, we are very happy that she is being so well cared for by such dedicated and helpful individuals.

At first, my dad was more agitated and confused about where he was and all the new faces, but after a while, he has settled in as best he can with his old traits of bouts of anger and calmness being managed and understood by the caring staff who have grown to understand his moods.

His personal care is being met as best it can be. His eating is difficult and he prefers to eat later to when meals are served and staff have recognised this. Opticians will have to come to him.

Diana Gooranah
Diana GooranahJob Title:Home Manager

Before my current role, I was deputy manager, so I feel privileged to have been promoted.

It is incredibly rewarding to lead a team I’m really proud of.

The most important aspect of my role is to ensure residents are happy, safe and well cared for. It’s wonderful watching the team work well together with dedication and compassion. Seeing the positive difference we make in people’s lives keeps me motivated.

I’ve been part of Care UK since 2006. I chose to work for the organisation because it truly values people – both residents and colleagues. I’ve been lucky enough to work alongside fantastic colleagues over the years and have been supported throughout my career.

To be a home manager, you need a combination of compassion, dedication and strong leadership. It’s important to genuinely care about the well-being of residents and to be able to support and motivate a team. Each new day brings a fresh set of challenges, so it’s essential to have strong problem-solving skills too.

Patience, empathy and excellent communication skills are also key as you need to build relationships with residents, their families and colleagues so that everyone feels valued and heard.

I enjoy spending my free time with family, listening to music, reading, and travelling.
