The team at Riverlee provide residential, dementia, nursing and palliative care. They also offer respite care breaks, which can be booked in advance. These are ideal for family carers looking after loved ones at home. They can book a much-needed holiday, or simply take some time to recharge their batteries, with the peace of mind of knowing their loved one is in safe hands and enjoying a short break of their own.

The home has welcoming lounges, where residents can enjoy activities and relax with loved ones, who are welcome at any time.

Residents are encouraged to bring pictures, small items of furniture and anything else which makes their bedrooms truly feel like home.

In the dining rooms they enjoy nutritious, home-cooked meals prepared by the home’s chef, from roast dinners with all the trimmings to fish and chip Fridays and lighter bites such as home-made soups. And there are freshly baked cakes each for afternoon tea.

There are lots of activities to enjoy, from baking and crafts, to gentle exercise sessions and animal therapy. The home also has a Magic Table, a wonderful piece of technology designed in the Netherlands for people living with dementia. It connects them through social, interactive light games, which encourage gentle movement and some healthy competition!

The local community are embraced into life in the home, from singers and entertainers to local school children, who enjoy activities or simply spending time with the residents. Recently weekly music and reminiscence sessions have started with a local musician, filling the home with the sound of song. The residents love sitting and chatting about their musical memories, singing and playing different instruments.

Riverlee also has a hairdressing salon, for regular appointments with a mobile hairdresser, as well as pamper sessions, with manicures and hand massages.

It is usual for residents in care homes to contribute to the cost of their own care. Some people have the resources to pay for this in full, whilst others make means-tested contributions.
Our weekly fees are individual to each of our residents and are subject to a pre-admission assessment, which is required to understand the level of care and support needed. Our 2025 weekly care fees for residential care start from £1375 and for nursing care £1664, but may be in the region of 30% more*. This depends on your care needs and the type of bedroom that is right for you, from our standard rooms through to our premium bedroom options.

I visited my father-in-law with my daughter. We both work in care. I manage a nursing home. The smell of urine was strong, my father-in-law's room was so strong I had to spray perfume. We were there for over 3 hours, not offered a drink. We had to ask for a drink for him. The staff were pleasant but
not visible, you had to look for them. Some comments I received about our family member were not acceptable and derogatory to him. I have concerns about his lack of care, oral care had not been given.
I live a distance away so I see things that maybe others do not. As I also manage a care home I am aware of the pressures the staff have.
However, this does not excuse dismissive behaviour, speaking about our family member as if he was a nuisance.
I hope this was a one-off. Very upsetting for us.

My mum is well looked after at Riverlee. Before she went there she was often falling, getting infections that made her delirious etc. Since being in care she has been well, healthy, and had a good appetite. The staff know what they are doing and keep her comfortable. She caught covid early on, in April
2020. She spent 10 weeks in hospital and at the end, she could no longer walk and had severe delirium. Since being at Riverlee she has slowly settled and is now in much better shape. She will never walk again, and she does have some delirium or dementia, but she is much more calm and lucid than she was. The staff are supportive and helpful. If I have any criticism it is that the staff don't communicate that much - it takes time to find out how they work. And it would be great if each resident had a key worker who took a particular interest in their mental well-being, rather than that being a general shared responsibility. But having said that, the staff kept going through covid.

My husband receives good care and just as important it is given with kindness. He is greeted by carers, medical and auxiliary staff by name and sometimes given a "High Five". He sometimes does not eat and carers are encouraging, and if this happens at visiting/meal times I am given some food in order
to encourage him. I am more than happy that my family chose Riverlee, we are kept up to date on his wellbeing.

Can I say a big thank you to the weekend staff, the receptionist goes above and beyond to facilitate visits and is incredibly supportive, always greets me with a smile and leaves me feeling reassured. Any member of staff that I have had interaction with is super friendly. Loved the smell of the roast
on Sunday in the building and the member of staff with the boom box brings energy into the building. It filled me with joy. Thank you once again, I enjoy all of your energy and infectious smiles and care.

My dad had dementia and came to the care home in 2016 but sadly passed away in July ‘19. Now my mum has had to come here because she had a spinal injury and needs round the clock care. The staff are so kind here. And as much as I find it so hard, mum being in the home, I can rest easy knowing she’s
well looked after. One staff member who has been here 4 years and worked on reception at weekends, but now works during the week as well knew my dad and my mum from when we used to visit dad. Since mum has come to the care home the staff member has really taken mum under her wing, she’s so sad that mum has had to come here as well. She always checks in on mum, and is very caring and will go out of her way to help wherever possible.

I have found all the staff extremely helpful and they keep our family informed of any changes or needs of my mother. The home itself is always clean and offers a good environment with activities available. The staff have looked after my mother through this very difficult time and kept us up to date

My 98 year old Mum has been at Riverlee since June 2018 and I have always been extremely satisfied by the care and kindness the staff show towards her. Due to quarantine restrictions, I have been unable to visit Mum for almost a year now, but we are able to communicate regularly via Skype. I would like
to state my appreciation of the devotion of the nursing staff, carers and administrative staff who strive to do their utmost to maintain the cheerful and homely atmosphere at Riverlee, particularly in the current challenging circumstances. I am also informed immediately of any important issues affecting Mum’s health and I take part in the monthly Relatives’ meeting organised via Zoom which enables me to keep up to date with recent developments. My sincere thanks to all members of staff at Riverlee who are a credit to the management.

My mother suffers from dementia and has received full support at Riverlee Residential and Nursing Home for the past nine years. She is settled and well cared for. All the levels of regular staff group know her well (including ancillary workers/chef). I observe staff working collaboratively to ensure
my mother's activities of daily living are met. If the home falls short of high-quality care and attention due to shortage of staff, training needs or agency cover, we (the family) will raise any concerns with the management team for prompt actions. Our voices are always heard and always responded to sensitively and professionally.

I’ve come into contact with many care homes in recent years, and Riverlee is by far the most "homely"! The staff there are exceptional, always professional, friendly and above all, caring.


A special mention should go to the activities team who work so hard to provide entertainment for the residents

- frequent parties, “virtual cruises”, film afternoons, trips to the seaside, to see Christmas lights etc, even creepy crawly days which the residents seem to enjoy!


My aunt has been a resident at Riverlee for over two years, and it is an absolute pleasure to visit her there. She loves joining in with everything that is going on, and it is reassuring for me to know that she is safe, well looked after and happy. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Riverlee to anyone for their loved ones.

We cannot begin to thank the management and care home staff for all that they did for Mum as they cared for her with such care, compassion and sincerity. This has helped us to cope as a family and as Mum approach her final days, this mattered the most. They always greeted us as the family with a warm
welcome and we always knew as the family that Mum was always in safe hands.


We will never forget how wonderful you have all been and I know that my Mum was always so happy in your care, your home, even up until her final moments.

Your care for her in her final week and the management of her passing away was managed with such dignity and we thank you all so much. It was so fitting to hold the wake in the lounge at the home - her home - and on that day everyone was so helpful, you really were her family.

The sadness of losing Mum is buffered by the fact that she had such a wonderful stay at Riverlee.

Riverlee Residential and Nursing Home is a wonderful sanctuary for clients to live. The staff work very hard ensuring the wellbeing, safety and care of all the residents. I'm very grateful to all the staff who take care of my loved one. They are a lovely group of carers. Their patience is unfailing
