Albany Nursing Home is a calm and welcoming home that helps residents to live as fulfilling a life as possible and also delivers palliative care.

Visitors are actively encouraged at the home, which has an open door policy. Residents can also bring with them key pieces of furniture and belongings to help them settle and feel comfortable in their own private bedroom.

There is a patio area in the garden where residents can enjoy spending time in good weather and there are raised flowerbeds for active participation in gardening activities. The garden is also wheelchair friendly.

I would recommend this nursing home to anyone; it is clean, friendly and has a great manager and staff. It's like home to home. My auntie was a resident from 2018 to 2020 when she suddenly passed away, June 21 2020. She had a great time during her stay; she was well-loved by everyone.

We found that the care given to our relative at Albany nursing home (Leyton) was extremely good.
Everyone from the management down to the nurses and carers did an excellent job.
With many renovations made to the place itself from time to time.

My wife was in Albany for only a short period of time, two and a bit weeks. She died in the home. I was there every afternoon and early evening for several hours. The staff were consistently kind and caring, and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Although my wife's death was sudden and unexpected
I could not have been happier with the care she received.

My Mum was in Albany for 18 months until she passed. She was treated with the utmost respect and dignity. She was always clean and presentable, which is how she had lived her life. Thank you to all the staff members for making my Mum's life as happy as her health allowed.

My father was admitted for palliative care on the 4th January and he loved it. The staff, carers and nurses were wonderful, nothing too much trouble for them. They were always cheerful and so helpful and my Father loved to chat to them. All the staff and nurses were wonderful to the family. Keep us
informed, the room is fantastic, so clean, cosy and warm. The family would like to thank all at Albany Nursing Home - wonderful.

Although I was nervous at first putting my mother in a nursing home because of stories you hear in the media, I found the home to be caring, friendly and clean. She was treated with dignity and kindness. My mother was looked after by nurses. Carers and staff that became like family.

My aunt was well cared for and staff were courteous, helpful and experienced. Any problems were sorted out immediately. Her needs were taken into account from the moment she arrived to live at Albany until November when she passed away peacefully.

My Aunt, in her 90.s was bed bound and spent well over a year being looked after by the manager and her staff at Albany Nursing home.

My previous experience with care homes was choosing one for my Father after his full- time care became too much for me and I didn't get everything right. Dad, however,
did well there oblivious to many of the shortcomings due to his dementia. I, however, worried about the incompetent management and complete lack of security which left him wandering the grounds in winter leaving me to constantly check he was safe.

In my experience, Albany Nursing home suffers none of the problems I experienced with my Father and is a delightful warm secure environment. Being modern and purpose built it does not suffer the limitations of a converted old building and the concerned proactive caring extends down from the management along with the warm welcome when you visit

Caring for the elderly is hard work. Nobody will get it 100% right but Albany do it very well.

Albany Nursing Home is a very caring establishment, a very friendly and caring bunch but some of the carers need a lot of training of understanding dementia. Entering a residents room without any warning, just to see someone standing above you and make no excuse prove that these carers need proper training
in dementia and respect to the resident. There should be at least six weekly information meetings.

clean and smells very clean. As for my family and myself Albany Home is very clean and very friendly we recommend it.

It is hard for me to choose a given month of living here and to describe the way in which the activities arising as any period would I choose is just as rewarding as any other, with the exception of Christmas. Starting with breakfast fast served in a pleasant manner by the caregivers ladies, the carefully
distribution of medicinal products by nurses to the residents, passing the course of the day sprinkled with various relaxing activities, yes so that I can say that all these good things help us go slightly above the troubles of life. So to speak in each day is Sunday. Thank them all in everyday.

On entering Albany there is a friendly welcome and one immediately notices a high level of cleanliness with no extraneous smells. The residents’ rooms are en suite with a chest of drawers, clothes cupboard and two chairs provided. Residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms with photographs
& other items that may make them feel at home. They are also able to have their own radio and television. There are occasional outdoor trips which those residents able to travel, thoroughly enjoy and a regular programme of visiting entertainers of varying quality. There is a choice of menu for breakfast, lunch and supper. Tea and biscuits are served mid afternoon. On each floor there is a communal lounge for residents and their visitors. Management are approachable and will listen to any concerns or issues that one may have. The safety of the residents is of paramount importance to every member of staff. I feel comfortable that my wife is well looked after, happy and above all, safe.

I would not recommend this nursing home to anyone. They have poor service quality and an even poorer attitude towards their work and care. They are inconsiderate towards their service users needs and lack compassion and treat them like mere objects. They are rude and always take shortcuts towards their
work. Putting their best interests before the residents and they act like they are doing a favour on them by helping them.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.190)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.190) out of 10 for Albany Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.734 for Albany Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (70 Excellents x 5) + (23 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 94 Ratings = 4.734
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.456 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Albany Nursing Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 61 registered maximum number of service users is 12.2. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 12.2 = 0.656
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
