other privately arranged healthcare. Should you require an escort to hospital appointments, we may apply
an agreed hourly charge for this service.

They have looked after my Dad with the best care they can which is much appreciated. I'm glad I can visit my Dad during the lockdown, garden visits in the summer and indoor room with the screen from ceiling to floor between us. Lovely home and the staff and management are amazing and may it continue.

As the care home is in lockdown it is very difficult addressing the ratings. I am very disappointed giving the following review, but on collecting my husband, he smelt very unclean (body/mouth), had food stains around his mouth and badly needed a shave. There was redness on his bottom between his buttocks.
At home, we gave him a good wash/brushed his teeth (his gums bled profusely) and shaved him. A box of toothpicks was still full, toothpaste was not used and 2 minutes out of 58 were used on his electric shaver. We had fully informed the home that my husband needs assistance with personal care due to late-stage Alzheimer's/weakness from a stroke. My husband can display challenging behaviour due to Alzheimer's (we fully informed the home of this), however, the home should be able to apply strategies to deal with this, instead of what seems like neglecting his personal needs. My husband has severe communication difficulties and is unable to share his experiences.

We understand that putting a loved one into respite care can be a difficult decision, but we try and support relatives and their loved ones the best we can. I would like to assure you we do a full dependency analysis for each resident, which is used to plan staff deployment accordingly to make sure care is safe and appropriate for each resident’s needs, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. However, we do take your concerns and feedback seriously and would like to thank you for taking the time to share your views - we will arrange for the manager at the home to get in touch and discuss this further with you in person.

Since my mum has been at Amberley Lodge, she has been looked after with care and dignity. The staff are amazing and very much work as a team. Amberley have attended to all my mum's needs and welcomed us as a family as well. They have done a fantastic job through these unprecedented times, making it

Amberley Lodge is a small care home over three floors with each floor caring for the different needs of the residents. The management team are very supportive and provided all the advice we needed, even down to what we should do on mum's first day of residence to ensure mum settled in quickly.
The
carers immediately took care of mum and we did not feel nervous leaving her for the first time. Mum suffered from mild to moderate dementia. When she was living by herself in her own flat there were bouts of frustration. However, when she was at Amberley, she was settled and we got our old happy mum back. We enjoyed visiting mum as it was a small environment we quickly got to know the other residents as well, all of them seemed settled and happy. The carers are amazing to residents and visitors and we could not have asked for more in a care home. Thank you Amberley Lodge team.

My step-father joined Amberley Lodge from another care home that we did not feel was suited to his ever-changing needs as suffering from Lewy Body Dementia. From the moment we entered Amberley Lodge, we were blown away by the genuine empathy shown and understanding of the complexity of different types
of dementia. Every member of staff regardless of job role clearly understands each and every resident and makes a real effort to get to know them as individuals, not simply 'another resident'. Our dad has been more active now that he's been in months and already is looking happier and healthier although we appreciate he won't 'get better', at least he is much more comfortable which is really reassuring. Dementia can be so challenging to understand and deal with for both the individual and their families so the support we have personally been shown by the team at Amberley Lodge has made the transition so much easier. Thank you!

Mum has been a resident at Amberley Lodge for nearly five years now.
As a family, we cannot recommend the home highly enough.
The staff are very caring, kind and patient with Mum.
We recently had a wonderful themed evening meal with Mum, which we all felt went above and beyond our expectations.

My Mum was a resident at Amberley Lodge from summer 2014 until she sadly passed away in April 2018. I am very impressed with the excellent care which Mum received from all the staff. I visited her on a regular basis but I had the confidence in knowing she was being looked after in a professional and
caring manner when I wasn’t there. The staff were very kind to Mum, they washed her and fed her, when she could no longer look after herself. Some of the nurses formed a close connection with Mum, which was lovely to see. They had activities, which Mum took part in, whilst she was able to. Everyone was friendly and made me feel welcome when I visited the home. The nurses helped me to understand that Mum was dying and needed palliative care. I was able to talk with the GP’s who visited the home. When Mum died, she was not alone, the nurses were with her. They played her favourite music, they massaged her hands, they talked to her about me. She died peacefully and with dignity.

My husband spent two weeks at Amberley for respite care.
He has vascular dementia.
He seemed to enjoy the stay.
He has a speech defect, so is difficult to understand him.
He was certainly taken good care of.
The staff are caring, kind and can I say, loving.

Everyone is wonderful, all residents are treated really well and kindly, activities are great and also entertainment. Staff seem to really care and have great fun with the residents who respond. I have visited other homes where my aunt was (not care UK homes) and I hated going there but Amberley Lodge
is so pleasant from the minute you enter the front door I enjoy going there.

Since mother became a resident each outside activity has been cancelled or postponed. If we didn't take her out she would not get any fresh air at all!
Also still registered with the previous GP as the homes Doctor has no more places left.

My father (age 87) has Alzheimer's and has stayed at Amberley Lodge three times for respite care, September and December 2016, and most recently for four weeks until mid-February 2017. On each stay, he has been given a genuinely warm welcome by the staff and looked after with great kindness and compassion,
giving my mother a much-needed break. Everyone we came into contact with at Amberley Lodge, from the care assistants and nursing team to the managers in reception, were extremely professional and took a personal interest in my father. The activities lady also went out of her way to find out about Dad and what he enjoyed doing. We would have loved Dad to have stayed permanently but my mother (also 87), was finding it too far to travel to visit him so, with great reluctance, we have moved him to another care home nearer where she lives. I recommend Amberley Lodge highly if you are looking for respite or long term care, especially if your relative has dementia.

We initially used Amberley Lodge Nursing Home for respite care, but due to other circumstances, my father is now a permanent resident here. I find the home to be clean and well equipped with a lovely dining room and excellent food. The staff are genuinely caring and my dad is happy and settled. Before
my mother passed away recently, she visited my father every day, and the staff couldn't have been more welcoming to her. When we visit my father, we find him enjoying the social life at the home, and he has made some good friendships. The home feels warm and inviting - not clinical. I can't thank the staff enough for the care and compassion they have shown my father - it provides real peace of mind for us as a family.

My brother has been a resident with you for almost 17 years. I am his only relative who visits him. Although I am quite satisfied with the care he receives, I must congratulate the team leader who is extremely caring towards all residents, and goes beyond her normal caring duties in maintaining excellent
relationships with those that need continuous care.
I would like to visit more often, but being 81, diabetic and living in Gloucester makes visiting more difficult. I do not really get all information that I require all though, you have my email address to forward to me various events through. Thank you.

My father-in-law went into Amberley Lodge in February 2016 from another care home where he was very unhappy. In the 8 weeks he has been there the transformation is amazing. He is happy and settled really quickly. The staff are professional and caring and the management are very helpful and approachable.
The manager is very efficient and runs the home very well. We definitely made a really good decision moving him to Amberley Lodge. It really is a home from home. It's very clean and well run

I have a nursing degree as well as an MBA from the University of Wales. I started my career with Care UK when I joined Amberley Lodge as a Senior Nurse in 2016. It was an exciting move as Care UK has a superb reputation for its vision of care and the support it gives to its colleagues.


I’ve seen the company’s high-quality approach to care in action at Amberley Lodge; it was a privilege to be part of the team that achieved an ‘outstanding’ CQC rating in 2018. Now to be the home’s Manager is something truly special.


I love spending time with residents and colleagues to find out how their day is going and look for ways I can support them to enjoy their day to the full. We’re one big family - relatives, residents and colleagues all look out for each other. I look forward to welcoming you to Amberley Lodge very soon.
