As yet, we have been unable to come inside to visit Mum, but have sat in the garden.

All the staff are great, and Mum seems to be happy.

My Nan spent her last years at Cedar House in Harefield. Prior to coming here she was in another home but was moved to Cedar House because they specialise in dementia care. She enjoyed her life there, and the family could see how happy she was. She enjoyed singing and entertaining the other residents, even at 100 years of age! I miss her, but I know she was cared for and meant a lot to the staff at Cedar House. Thank you to the manager and her staff for making her content and happy during her last years at Cedar House.

My grandmother was placed in Cedar house and received palliative care. The love and respect given to our family and my grandmother in her last few months was incredible and I would like to say thank you to everyone who looked after my grandmother. Thank you.

My mother was transferred to Cedar House from the hospital and was made extremely welcome from the outset by the manager and staff. They were all warm, caring, and friendly. My family were happy and relieved that Mum was placed in such a lovely environment. Although Mum sadly passed away after only two weeks of being there, we felt it was a good place for her to spend her last moments. Thank you, everyone.

The care home is adequate for mum's needs. Staff are friendly and helpful. The care home is well maintained. Response could be better. Communication good. More staff would be a bonus.

Mum seemed to settle very quickly for her respite stay which was really reassuring. Having a very nervous personality we were unsure how she would react but we need not have worried. She was made to feel most welcome and was included in social events and an outing. Can't thank the staff enough as it allowed us to relax and enjoy our week away knowing she would be cared for and happy.

My father sadly passed away at the beginning of October having been a resident at Cedar House for 18 months. Although his stay was not without issues the staff always did their best for Dad, caring for him with kindness and dignity. During his final days, the staff couldn't do enough for him and his family and we were all able to be with our Dad at the end for which we will be forever grateful.

Review from Catherine (Daughter of Resident) published on 29 August 2018 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My mother was a resident at Cedar House for the last 2 years of her life when she had dementia. Staff were caring and kind, the home was clean, welcoming and felt safe. There's a nice garden so visitors can take their relatives outside in good weather. The bedroom was nicely furnished but you could bring extra items and have pictures hung on the wall to personalise.

There were regular activities but most seemed designed for a stereotype "old person" - bingo, Vera Lynn singalongs, etc. My mum was never into these kinds of activities, so I felt she needed more mental stimulation. Even varying the range of music (classical, jazz, etc) would be good.

My mum mostly liked the meals though she complained that they kept putting sugar in her tea and there was no fresh fruit and salad.

The staff were sensitive regarding end of life care and looked after Mum kindly to the end, though I was surprised and sad that nobody from Cedar House attended her funeral.
