The team takes a person-centred care approach, placing great emphasis on personal dignity and providing as many opportunities as possible for those with dementia to live independently. Mum came to Cumberland for respite care staying for 4 weeks. She immediately settled and felt at home.
Throughout her stay, the staff were always friendly, helpful and smiling. They were in particular good when Mum had to have an injured thumb dealt with.
Overall, no praise can be high enough for
Cumberland House and we are only moving her for the convenience of location for family and friends.

My Father is well looked after. The staff are all friendly and helpful. They understand my Father's been and are happy to do what they can to make him comfortable. Overall very happy with the care he is receiving.

My wife is well looked after by friendly staff here. She has a nice room, which we have decorated with some pictures and toys. Personal care, food and transport around the home in a wheelchair are all good. The staff make an effort to entertain residents and there is always a nurse around.

I attended the Xmas party with my aunt, she really enjoyed it. The staff are always friendly and caring. Always happy to answer questions and provide info on my aunt. I visit regularly and I'm always greeted by whoever I see on the way to my aunt's room. I haven't commented on the activities as my aunt
doesn't always want to get involved.

I am extremely happy with the care my husband receives from everyone in the care home.
He is treated with dignity and respect for his wishes. I know that he is very happy and settled in the care home and thank everyone at Cumberland care home for their time, patience and care.
My only request/wish
would be that he had a better view from the window.

The staff at Cumberland are exceptional; they take the time with each resident to work out an individual care plan, and this can be changed if they need specific care, along with evaluating it regularly.

We are so happy with the care my father receives from all the staff.
Everyone is extremely caring with Dad and seem to understand his needs, even though he is a very private person.
They treat him with dignity and compassion and also offer us, as relatives, compassion and empathy when we go through
difficult times.
Care home is very homely, yet professional and very clean.
Unable to really comment on activities as Dad hasn’t wanted to get involved just yet. However, he did go to the recent BBQ and had an excellent time. He absolutely loved the musician and it was wonderful to see Dad outside enjoying the music and even dancing (sitting) with the staff.

My mum has been in the Cumberland since May, and we could not have asked for nicer, kinder staff. They are so lovely to my mum, and that gives us peace of mind. They are all very nice, but one in particular, he treats the residents with so much kindness and affords them the dignity they deserve - all
of the residents love him.
The management team are all so kind and helpful in every way as well.
Thanks to another member of staff, my mum is finally drinking smoothies which are good for her as she doesn’t really eat properly!

Thank you to all the staff at Cumberland for the amazing care that you provide for our mother and up until recently our late father. In the last few weeks and days of our father's life, we were very grateful for the care and support not just to him but also to us as relatives. I am fully aware of all
the work your staff have been doing to support us in such a difficult time and we really appreciate it. The end-of-life care provided was amazing and special. Also the care and support to my mother who remains in your care. The staff at Cumberland deserve a special mention. They're amazing!

My aunt was only in the home for a few months but I was able to visit her weekly. She was happy, contented and comfortable. The home was clean and the residents had a choice of meals at lunch times. She got on well with the staff who were friendly and helpful. I was happy with the standard of care

Cumberland really provides well-produce that regularly shows wellness and normality to the environment, which enables a balance of wellness to retain all tasks completed, at all times, producing to, regarding nothing less of situational aspect or how much effort has to be applied to achieve/remain and

I was very pleased with the overall standard of the home’s facilities, cleanliness and care for my aunt. Although her stay was quite short, some three months, she seemed comfortable and contented. She had adjusted to being away from her own home and had developed a good rapport with some staff members.
I attended an informative family meeting, albeit on the day that my aunt subsequently died in hospital. The staff responded well to handling the situation. Thanks.

My uncle is 85 with prostate cancer and many other complaints. The care home staff at Cumberland Nursing Home are very helpful and friendly. My uncle is very happy with his accommodations, it is kept very clean. The food is excellent and served hot. Last month, my uncle caught an infection, quick thinking
staff at the care home took him to hospital where they found he had sepsis and was able to treat it quickly.
Many thanks to the manager for advising me that Uncle is on his way to hospital and quick thinking staff for saving Uncle's life.

My favourite part of each day is when l do my morning and afternoon walk around, talking to residents, asking how they slept and checking how my team is doing and checking whether they have any concerns. At lunchtime, I enjoy seeing food trollies going to the units and observing residents enjoying their meals.


Every day in the home is different and I enjoy seeing residents adjust to the new environment and when they get better, seeing families smile after visits. I also have the joy of supporting and watching new staff learn and adapting to new ways of working.
