Cumberland care home is a homely and inclusive care home delivering quality residential, dementia and nursing care for older people.

The team takes a person-centred care approach, placing great emphasis on personal dignity and providing as many opportunities as possible for those with dementia to live independently. They get to know each new resident, from their physical needs to their personality, to create care and lifestyle plans that are unique to them.

other privately arranged healthcare. Should you require an escort to hospital appointments, we may apply
an agreed hourly charge for this service.

My siblings and I are all very happy with the Cumberland as a home to our father, who has fronto-temporal dementia. It is friendly, welcoming, clean and well-run. The staff offer a range of activities for the residents to participate in, and we are particularly impressed by their community engagement
events and events for families to join in with. The staff seem to genuinely care about our father and it is nice to see how they interact with him. Overall I get the impression that this home is always trying to improve and if there are any problems, they are dealt with quickly and efficiently. We very much hope that our father will be able to stay at this home until the end of his illness.

My favourite part of each day is when l do my morning and afternoon walk around, talking to residents, asking how they slept and checking how my team is doing and checking whether they have any concerns. At lunchtime, I enjoy seeing food trollies going to the units and observing residents enjoying their meals.


Every day in the home is different and I enjoy seeing residents adjust to the new environment and when they get better, seeing families smile after visits. I also have the joy of supporting and watching new staff learn and adapting to new ways of working.
