The staff are accomodating, kind, friendly and welcoming. They will go the extra mile to ensure my father is comfortable and happy. They are often humorous and lighthearted too, which makes our visits very fun.

My in-laws have been in the nursing home for about 6 months. The carers are good and know what they are doing, but need reminding them sometimes. Rooms are ok. I think management needs to be after the carers e.g. making sure service users' clothes are not mixed with other users. Service users who are
bedbound need extra care, especially monitoring them with fluids. Carers all very good during feeding time, kind and helpful. Nurses are good too. They will listen to what you have to say, but sometimes need to remind them few times.

The staff are very good and they all look after my mum very well. The new manager is great and he tries to cater to Mum's needs based on our requests. One area of improvement is that the home should be able to cater Asian foods when they have a few Asian residents and hence serving British food at times
doesn't help, so, Asian (Indian) food would be great.

My Mum was a resident at Frithwood Nursing Home for over 3 years. The new manager came towards the latter part of 2023 and Saeeda came on board too, since then things have improved tremendously. A nursing home is good if the staff is good and the manager is good. MD Homes have finally got it right with
the manager and his team. Across from the cleaning staff to the manager, it is a good team and it reflects in the day-to-day running of the home. Unfortunately, my Mum is no more to benefit from the professionally run home. During the last couple of months of her life, the support we got from all the staff, especially 4 members of staff in particular was commendable. The cooperation from 2 members of staff in the kitchen was amazing when we took homemade food. 4 other members of staff were very patient and caring when feeding Mum and with her care. With the manager and his team, I would highly recommend Frithwood Nursing Home.

I have nothing but praise for the care and support we were given for my father and my family at The Frithwood Nursing Home. My father was admitted to Frithwood for palliative care, sadly he wasn’t at Frithwood for very long. The care and support we received from every member of staff was amazing. They
put their residents care first and foremost and nothing is too much trouble for the staff.
The home is run with professional standards from management leadership all the way through to the care staff and the cook. All who make it feel like it’s one big family home.
Thank you Frithwood for all you do.

The staff at Frithwood have been so welcoming since Dad joined them from hospital in July after breaking his hip. The family were new to nursing homes so needed much information and guidance which they provided willingly and sensitively. They have been so gentle, patient and understanding with Dad which,
in turn, provides great comfort to my brothers and me. During a further hospital stay, they kept in touch with me throughout, advising, following up and answering my questions. Covid has presented its own issues but we have every confidence Frithwood are following protocols and keeping Dad and other residents safe. Initially, we were able to have visits in their lovely garden but are now restricted to window visits, which they facilitate with great care, explaining to Dad and reassuring him as necessary. Frithwood has less of a 'corporate' atmosphere of some larger homes which we much prefer, it seems more like a family house and has enabled Dad to settle in well, making friends with the staff and residents more easily. We are so grateful to Frithwood, making a difficult situation so much easier for us all.

A comfortable home with small rooms adequately furnished and pretty garden (except what I call 'the wheelchair graveyard'. Caring staff who work very hard. The food is plentiful and tasty, although there is not a huge choice.
However, there is little to do here as there are no activities.

A pleasant environment with management, nursing staff and care assistance doing their best for the residents. Any special needs are catered for. Any problems are promptly attended to and resolved. Daily activities for the residents could be improved, but one has to take into consideration the physical
abilities of the residents. Increased interaction between staff and residents is essential.

My father stayed in Frithwood Nursing Home for a few weeks. The staff provided end of life care with sensitivity and dignity.
I especially want to thank two members of staff who went the extra mile to make him comfortable. I was very grateful for this.
I also appreciated being updated on Dad's progress.
Thank
you.

My mother-in-law had the dedication of a fantastic staff here at Frithwood. Every care was administered days and nights by excellent staff in all areas. She passed peacefully and the kindness shown to my wife (her daughter) and myself was overwhelming. In her time of need, the care home came into its
own.

Frithwood cared for our mum for just over nine months up until she passed away on 8th May.
We are so pleased we chose Frithwood. The staff really cared for our mum and formed a real bond with her. We know our mum thought the world of them and this was reciprocated by the staff, some of whom were in
tears as my mum neared the end of her life.
It was a comfort to know that she was looked after with such kindness.

Mum came to Frithwood after developing pneumonia living at home. I came with her from the hospital to Frithwood and settled her in. The staff are absolutely wonderful. Nothing is too much trouble for them. The food is wonderful and Mum has been regaining her appetite and having seconds and thirds! Her
room is lovely, and the lounge room where she is brought to sit with other residents is bright, clean and cheerful. The staff constantly engage Mum and other residents by having a chat or bringing in cups of tea. I could visit whenever I liked and stay as long as I wished and was constantly given updates on Mum's wellbeing. I live in Australia and returned last week, knowing that my Mum is in good hands, and is being well cared for, well fed and looked after. Thank you.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.761) out of 10 for The Frithwood Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 45 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 45 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.761 for The Frithwood Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (416 Excellents x 5) + (89 Goods x 4) + (18 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 523 Ratings = 4.761
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Frithwood Nursing Home is based on 45 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 26 registered maximum number of service users is 5.2, which has been reached with 45 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
