Hampton Care Home is situated in the attractive London suburb of Hampton. The large, elegant purpose-built home was designed with generous rooms and wide corridors to give a spacious and airy feel, ensuring comfort and ease of movement around the home.
From the moment when residents enter the welcoming reception area, they get a sense of the quality of life and home-from-home feel that they can expect while living here.
Hampton Care Home has 76 generously sized ensuite bedrooms, spread over three floors. These are comfortably furnished, equipped with a TV, a nurse call system and an adjustable automatic bed. There is plenty of space to accommodate wheelchairs in each room, if required. Free WI-FI is available throughout the home. There is lift access between all floors and Hampton has its own hair salon.
On each floor there is a dining room and lounge for meals, group activities or socialising, attended by its own team of nursing and care staff. They are on hand 24/7, supported by dedicated teams of chefs, activities, cleaning and housekeeping staff.
The home provides nursing care, palliative care and short-term care as well as secure and compassionate facilities for residents who are living with dementia.
Hampton Care Home is set within a large and gated garden where residents and their visitors can relax on a warm day. Ample parking is available.

The one thing we really don't like is the electronic check in. It's time consuming, clumsy and exasperating. I won't repeat what a visiting clergyman said as he did battle with the terminal. With the old system, a hand written book, we were able to see who had visited my mother in our absence. Not only did that give us something to talk about but also allowed us to know who was visiting.

Liaison between Nursing and GP visits poor. Previous outside assessment on teams not handled well with technology issues and knowledge of my mother was sketchy. Questionable front of house management not being transparent or brave to pick up the phone to iron out a misunderstanding. Not value for money. My mother is safe and warm.

The food is very good and there is always a choice. Another huge plus for Hampton is the entertainment. This is priceless for residents who do not have dementia. There is a timetable of varied activities each morning and afternoon to stimulate residents. They have 'guest entertainers' in on a regular basis. The entertainment staff do an excellent job. At each visit, I thank my lucky stars that my husband got a place there.

The management is poor, it is not visible to the residents or available easily to visitors. The rooms are shabby and not of the quality expected for the high charge paid for the resident's 24-hour care. The facilities are not really adequate or suitable for residents on the dementia floor. Too few staff to give specialised nursing care needed. Not enough staff to ensure safety and security. Not value for money.

Please note that we welcome all feedback - as home manager, I offer an open-door policy to visitors during the working day and there is an out-of-hours on-call manager to handle urgent concerns. Our staffing ratios exceed industry standards for care staff and activities, and during unavoidable periods of staff sickness we use experienced, qualified nursing and care staff from agencies to maintain these ratios and high standard of care. Our home has an ongoing refurbishment plan to ensure that we offer a pleasant living experience for all our residents. My cousin has been in Hampton Care Home for nearly a year and every visit I have made makes me feel comfortable that she is in the right place. Difficult to actually rate the food as I haven't eaten there but there seems to be plenty and it looks pretty good. There are always plenty of staff, who treat my cousin well, and the home is always clean and tidy. As for value for money, it's difficult to comment when dementia requires extra nursing but I am more than content.

Unfortunately, everything has increased in price - from energy and food to medical equipment. In addition, the National Living Wage has also gone up, and we pride ourselves on paying our talented and dedicated staff fairly. However, a full explanation can be found in the letter that we sent out to our residents/fee payers giving them notice of the increase.

Many thanks for taking the time to review the home. It is a pleasure to have your mother here at Hampton she is very popular with our staff and other residents! We are so pleased to hear that you seem happy with the home and your mother's care overall, especially our menus and activities. Our activities team works hard to ensure that our programme of activities is varied and enjoyable, and we do ask our residents to let us know whether there is anything that they particularly wish to do. Although our facilities team does put in a lot of time and effort to maintain our large garden, we have taken on board your comments and are currently sourcing some new plants that will give our garden some more colour. We will also look into ways of further improving communication between our staff teams.
