Hampton Care Home

Upper Sunbury Road, Hampton TW12 2DW

Hampton Care Home is in the attractive London suburb of Hampton, surrounded by lovely gardens. The large and elegant purpose-built home was designed with generous rooms and wide corridors to give a spacious and airy feel, ensuring your comfort and ease of movement around the home. From the moment you enter the welcoming reception area, you get a sense of the quality of life you can expect in this home.

Hampton Care Home has a total of 76 generously sized en-suite bedrooms, spread over three floors. Each floor has its own team of nursing and care staff dedicated to your welfare. Nursing and care staff are on hand 24/7, and the dedicated teams of chefs, activities, cleaning and housekeeping support them.

Each floor also has its own dining room and lounge where you can gather for meals, for group activities or to socialise. Each of the spacious rooms is comfortably furnished, with plenty of space for wheelchairs if you need one. A homely feel is important, so the lounge can be arranged for you to sit in a group to socialise, or to give you quiet space if you prefer.

Free wifi is available throughout the home, and all of the rooms are furnished with quality furniture and equipped with TV and telephone points, a nurse call system, and an adjustable automatic bed with a control handset to ensure your comfort.

The nursing care residents are mostly on the ground floor, where those who are more mobile can get around easily from their own room to the dining room and lounge. The first and second floors provide specialist dementia care facilities for those who are experiencing very severe symptoms and find day-to-day life particularly challenging including additional security features to ensure their safety within the home.

Overview

The Review Score of 8 (maximum of 10) for Hampton Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 4 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Hampton Care Home in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.4 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

Detailed Breakdown

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.638 for Hampton Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (32 Excellents x 5) + (13 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 47 Ratings = 4.638

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 3.382 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hampton Care Home is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 = 3.25

    2. Target of 15.2 positive Reviews (76 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 2 Reviews ÷ 15.2 Target = 0.132

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My dear wife became a resident here in August 2017 (following a stroke) and I joined her here on 22 December 2017.
I am happy that we made the right decision (my wife is aged 98 and I am 94).
Being able to share a large room together is a bonus. We have been married 67 years!
My dear wife's speech is still impaired and if a speech therapist was available I am sure she would benefit.
The WiFi here is very poor and the improvement, which the management has promised on several occasions, is still awaited.

Laura Dowd, Home Manager at Hampton Care Home responded to this review on 15 May 2018:

Thank you for this lovely review. I am very pleased to say the wifi is currently being replaced in its entirety and should be completed within 2 weeks. I'm very sorry for the wait and you have been very patient and we all appreciate how frustrating it can be while waiting for improvements to be made. If you would still like a referral to a speech therapist please let me know.

The standard of care my father receives at Hampton Care Home is exemplary. Carers clearly have a passion for their work and treat residents with the greatest regard for their comfort and dignity. My father relates to them more as friends than carers. Mealtimes are fun get-togethers and standards of cleanliness are of the very highest. Leaving a loved one at Hampton is as reassuring as you could wish - truly first rate.

My Aunt spent the last two weeks of her life at Hampton Care home.
She was treated with kindness and dignity. The staff went out of their way to spend time with her and meet all her needs although you could see they were always so busy.
The staff were so caring towards my sister and myself when visiting and after she died.
Thank you so much for the wonderful job they do.

After acting as my grandmothers carer for over three years I was nervous about delegating the responsibility to anyone else. I initially viewed several nursing homes but Hampton Care was the only one that I believed was right for Nan. In hindsight it's clear I made the right choice. I visit most days (rarely at the same time) and the standards of care I witness in the dementia unit are consistently excellent. Nan is always clean and well presented and the staff never fail to treat her with dignity and respect. Most importantly Nan herself is happy here, making friends among both the staff and fellow residents and enjoying the regular entertainment (particularly the live music). I cannot recommend Hampton Care highly enough.
