My dad has received excellent care at Heavers Court. The staff are caring and professional and the manager is approachable and quick to try and resolve any issues brought to her attention. The activities leaders always try and engage the residents in a good range of activities. The home has supported
my mum at a difficult time and has made the whole family feel very welcome. I am very impressed with the service and would definitely recommend.

My friend has been in Heavers Court for a number of years, first in residential and then in the nursing unity. The care is excellent and my friend has to be fed and cannot move. There have been no bed sores and all the carers treat her with love and respect. They should all be valued and paid a decent
wage.

I have found this home:
1) Well staffed.
2) The staff are warm, friendly, caring and make us feel welcomed.
3) I have seen a great improvement in my father.
4) The place is clean and well run.
5) My only concern has been where formalities might have been better carried out away from my father.
6)
I am more than happy with the day to day care and interaction with my dad.
Reply from Samantha Debenham, Marketing Support Administrator at Heavers CourtThank you so much for your review and kind comments, we’re incredibly happy to hear all your positive feedback, especially around care and the improvements you’ve seen in your father since coming to Heavers Court. In regards to your point around formalities, we do always try and include residents as fully as possible in conversations and decisions about their care – however, I understand that when your father first joined us that he did find this quite difficult and it may have been more appropriate to have conducted this conversation separately with you instead. We of course will bear this in mind in future. Thank you again for taking the time to provide your review, and please do let us know at any time if you have any further comments or suggestions.

My mum has been at Heavers Court for 2 and a half years. The staff have been exceptional for the whole of this period.

Their care of my mum is beyond excellent. My mum is more settled, calm and happy than she has been for the last 10 years. I cannot rate Heavers Court highly enough.

I visit my friend in the Holly unit every Thursday. I am always very impressed with the way the staff, without exception, treat the residents, with patience and respect. They help those who need help to come to the table at lunch time and I'm sure at all other times also.
They help feed those who
are unable to feed themselves.
The Holly unit is clean and cheerful. They have various entertainment for the residents. I was present on one of these occasions and it was nice to see the residents included by asking them questions and asking their views. The food is good and plentiful.

My Grandma was in the care of Heavers Court for 9 weeks, the experience was not good whilst in that home. The communication between staff and family relatives was again not good. Heavers Court did provide nutritious 3-course meals which were excellent.
Reply from Samantha Debenham, Marketing Support Administrator at Heavers CourtWe were very grateful to receive your comments and sorry that Heavers was unable to provide the level of care that your relative required. We understand that Heavers Court discussed this very early on with the placement provider requesting that a specialist placement or additional resources was required. We can also confirm that following discussions with yourselves additional training has been provided to staff.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.729) out of 10 for Heavers Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 12 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.929 for Heavers Court is calculated as follows: ( (131 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 141 Ratings = 4.929
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Heavers Court is based on 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 12 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
