Overall Experience

It almost 2 years since my dad moved into the Knights Court Care home. He is very happy there, the nurses and carers are all very friendly, helpful, and fond of him. The care home is always very clean, tidy, and hygienic. The care home location is ideally situated for our family as it is close by and easily accessible via M25 and M1. The train and bus station and the local shopping centre are within walking distance and there are plenty of local shops and restaurants nearby. I would recommend this care home.

My husband went into Knights Court a few weeks ago, after being in hospital, and has settled down very well. The staff are helpful, friendly and kind and seem very professional. Precautions are being taken so that he does not fall (as he was prone to) and I feel confident that he is being well looked after and monitored regularly.

Professional staff, well turned out, smiling, willing to help, what more could a relative ask for?

Add to that the clean non-odour atmosphere, pleasant decor, very proud of telling other relatives where my aunt is.

Our lovely mum was transferred to Knights Court in May 2022.
She had been recovering in hospital for 2 months from a fall, due to her severe state of dementia.
Before the fall, Mum had been living at home with Dad. Both are in their 90s.
As a family, we had never heard of Knights Court. The thought of Mum being put in a home was a frightening one for all.
The opposite has been the experience we are still living through.
My dad who visits every day is welcomed and is included in every aspect of Mum's care.
As a large family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren we are often seen in the home celebrating family events and always including our mum.

We see Knights Court as an extension of our parents' Home.

As you walk into Knights Court Nursing Home you are greeted by a lovely jolly receptionist. The nurses, carers, cleaners and all staff including the maintenance man work so hard but they still find time to cheer me up with a nice smile or words of comfort. My room is always spotless, also the dining room and other areas are constantly cleaned. My visitors remark on this each time they come to visit me. Well done having such special staff.

The only negative I can say regarding Mum's stay at this excellent nursing home was I wish she could have enjoyed the caring, friendly, compassionate environment longer in her final weeks with us. Although Mum's stay was brief, I cannot fault the wonderful staff at all. Everything you could wish for for your loved one is thought of and carefully taken care of by this most caring home. Highly, highly recommended.

My mother suffers from Alzheimer’s and cannot walk or look after herself. She has been here for a year now and we cannot be more happy with the way that she has been taken care of.

Staff are friendly, caring, helpful and understanding, they create such a welcoming atmosphere. They keep me informed of any issues, medical or otherwise, either when I visit or by telephone if necessary. They organise many activities to keep her occupied and amused. There is a good choice on the food menu which is changed daily and Mum finds it very tasty. The corridors, patient areas and rooms are continually cleaned throughout the day and she has a spacious room with en suite facilities and a pleasant view of the garden.

I have only been here six months, the care I receive is very good. Carers try to spend as much time as they can with me. The activities team try to provide me with as many things as they can, even though I can't join the other residents. Management have all met me and have been good to me. I can't really fault much of the care I am provided.

My mother, aged 94, was referred to Knights Court Nursing Home by the palliative team from the local hospital in August, as she is unable to look after herself and has severe health issues. The care home was quick to reply and offer a placement, after agreeing to admit her following a telephone consultation with the hospital. I visited the home before my mother was admitted, where I found the staff extremely helpful. It was very clean, friendly and welcoming. I asked residents and their relatives their opinions on the home and everyone I spoke to was very complementary and praised the staff highly.

Since being a resident, my mother has gained some weight as she is eating 3 meals a day, she is complementary regarding the catering. The staff are marvelous, they can't do enough for my mother and keep me informed whenever I visit. I am delighted with the care and support my mother is given from the on site medical team, Deputy Manager, maintenance team and all the care providers.

My mother has been a resident at Knights Court since October 2022 and I have been pleased with the general care and attention provided by the nursing and care staff. All staff have been very kind to my mother and exhibit an understanding of her needs that is comforting for the family.

The property generally is kept clean by an efficient team and hygiene is clearly a priority. The admin team are very helpful and I am kept up to date if there is a rare medical issue which is promptly referred to and remedied by the visiting doctor. In all very satisfactory.

My father moved here 4 weeks ago after he was diagnosed with terminal cancer. We were welcomed warmly on arrival and felt at ease straight away.
The nurses were highly professional, caring and approachable.
Everybody at the home contributed greatly to my dad’s positive experience at the home ranging from the cleaners, receptionists, electricians, carers and meal staff. After my dad sadly passed away all the staff behaved with such respect and dignity and care towards the family.

The staff displayed warmth, professionalism and care throughout my father’s time at the home and can highly recommend it.

My aunt spent her final two years in the care of Knights Court Nursing Home. She moved in during the pandemic when I could not visit, and the staff were very helpful with getting her belongings sorted. Throughout her time there, they were so caring and supportive. I live in a different country and was not able to visit very frequently, but they always facilitated me by bringing the portable phone to my aunt so that we could speak. When I did visit, I found the home to be clean, comfortable and well-serviced. They really work hard to put on activities for the residents and keep them engaged and as active as possible.

Review from M T (Grandson of Resident) published on 25 July 2023 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
I definitely would not recommend this home, they are incapable of even meeting the most basic tasks.
We ended up having to move our Grandmother, and we hope no one else has to go through the problems that we did.
Don’t be fooled by the fake reviews on here, we were definitely fooled.
1. Our Grandmother lost loads of weight because they did not feed her properly.
2. When she called them for help she was ignored.
3. When she needed changing, they left her all day until she became sore.
4. They did not brush her teeth properly and did not remove her dentures.
5. They misdiagnosed her with dementia, she clearly did not have this, but apparently they eventually diagnose all their patients with this, when they clearly do not have this.

Even her Social worker agreed.

Staff are lovely, and thrive to meet all my friend's needs. They answer the bell with efficiency, they provide whatever my friend wants or needs are at the time. They are friendly and always smiling, the nurses are quick to assess and come up with a plan when there is a change in health. Management is friendly and always ready to speak and help alleviate any problems or issues.

The home always smells nice (I have been in a few which are not as pleasant) staff cater with tea and coffee for those who are visiting, and I have also noticed allowing a husband or wife to join their other half for meal times, providing them with support even though it's not expected.

Review from Leo S (Brother of Resident) published on 17 January 2023 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

My opinion of this care home and service provided, as this is the first experience I have had with care homes for my brother, nothing to compare to measure how good this home is, initially in the first year I was not that impressed with my brother's care, i.e. finding that he had been sitting in soiled clothing having wet himself then myself having to prompt attention from carers to sort. Also, having provided new items of clothing, i.e. underwear and socks, missing on the next visit. Also, observation of problems with waterworks very slow to be dealt with, resulting in him getting sepsis and being hospitalised for over a week. Most of these seem to be improving since the new manager has arrived! But would suggest that I am very grateful for the care given.
