Since moving to the ground floor, my father-in-law is so much happier. His care has been good and most staff are very kind.

Thank you for your kindness - even when my father-in-law was struggling.

My mother has now been a resident at Murrayfield Care Home for over two years. The care she has been given has been exemplary. My mother is bedridden and totally dependant on the staff. They are unfailingly kind and helpful. My mother is 97 and her mind is completely sharp, she is always telling me how much she appreciates the care given her by the staff. She really enjoys the food she is given and I personally am extremely grateful for the excellent care my mother is given.

The care and support provided to my uncle from the staff and carers at Murrayfield was always first class. During the Covid-19 pandemic, their dedication and efficiency provided much relief to our family when we were unable to visit as we wished.

My husband has been a resident in Murrayfield Care Home since 2019. I highly recommend this care home. Every time I visit I am so impressed with the level of care the staff gives to my husband. Their kindness and professional care they give shines through.

The manager is very approachable and the happiness and care of the residents is his main concern. Every time I ring to see how my husband is, a lady answers. Her voice is warm and she is always helpful. The team of nurses and healthcare assistants on the first floor look after my husband brilliantly. It was was hard over the lockdown as visits were stopped but the staff went out of their way so I could stay in touch with my husband via phone, as he is unable to speak following his stroke. The care home has now set up a Facebook call so we will be able to see each other on the calls. Again I highly recommend this care home.

My husband was only in Murrayfield originally for 6/8 weeks but because of COVID, he's stayed longer. As far as I can see he has been well cared for but the isolation and stopping activities, in the beginning, was hard for him. Otherwise, I feel under the difficult circumstances they have done well.

On the whole, the carers and nurses are very friendly and helpful but sometimes agency staff are varied. Sometimes there is no supervision by staff in the communal area, i.e. the residents are left to their own devices, not very often. For me, it is an ideal home as I live just across the road.

We were so blessed to get my mum into this particular home. She feels safe and cared for and the staff do an amazing Job. It was her 88th birthday today and the staff made it really special for her. I cannot rate Murrayfield highly enough, they are indeed first rate and I would highly recommend this home to anyone considering a nursing home.

Review from J J (Daughter of Resident) published on 12 January 2018 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience
I am concerned about the poor standard of pureed meals to residents my mum is not eating. On Friday 24 November the pureed meal served was stone cold. I and another family member of a different resident pointed this out to sister (nurse in charge). All the pureed meals had been served cold. The chef said she thought the meals would stay warm in a heating trolley. On the following day, the soup served was dishwashy. The staff could not identify what flavour it was! One said cauliflower? I think it was mushroom slimy and cold.

I have spoken to the manager about problems with the food they are resigned to the fact the chef is not up to the challenge despite training. Staff are very frustrated and can't help.
