My stepmother was transferred from hospital in the end stages of dementia.

Her stay wasn't long - but the care she received was fantastic. She was treated with such care and dignity at the end of her life and we felt supported at this difficult time too.

Reply from Peter Shevlin, Admin at Barchester Wimbledon Beaumont Care Community

Thank you for your kind words. All staff at Wimbledon Beaumont were so sorry to hear about your step-mother.

You hear so many horrid tales about care homes, so we were fearful when looking for a place for my mother-in-law. We needn't have worried at all because Wimbledon Beaumont is excellent in every aspect. The staff are lovely - so kind and helpful and they treat residents and visitors with enormous respect. The food is delicious. Cleanliness and standards of care are impeccable. The rooms are bright and well furnished. There are plenty of lounges and garden spaces.

Activities abound, yet it is always a choice; nobody pressurises anyone to do anything against their will - nobody says you must join in.

We're delighted that my mother-in-law is not lonely now. She chats easily to other residents, yet is able to spend plenty of time quietly on her own in her room. She's genuinely happy; I haven't seen her smile so much since her husband passed away more than four years ago. I'm sure this is largely due to the warm welcome she was given when she arrived at Wimbledon Beaumont and the fantastic care she is receiving there.

Thank you so much for your kind review. We are so pleased that your mother in law has settled so well with us, and she is enjoying the social side of life at The Wimbledon Beaumont.

My husband had come out of hospital and going back home was no longer viable. It was like a ray of light that the place came up, where they could deal with this particular set of medical problems. It is around the corner from home!

My mother has been well cared for since she came to live in September. The staff are caring and look after her individual needs. They treat her with dignity at all times. My brother and I are very happy that we chose Wimbledon Beaumont to look after her in her later years.

Mum is extremely well cared for at Wimbledon Beaumont. The home has a nice homely feel, is comfortable and it is always spotlessly clean. The staff are always welcoming and friendly and they all care for mum extremely well. Nothing is too much trouble. The food is also very good and there is always plenty of it.

We find the Barchester Wimbledon Care Home to be very friendly and responsive. The quality of care is excellent. The rooms are well equipped and specialist air mattress beds are available. The resident's notes are usually detailed and up to date, the matron is always well informed. We are called whenever there is a significant change or slight virus/infection. Skincare is particularly good and pressure sores are very well monitored and looked after.

A very well set up care home which mixed highly professional health care with attentive, caring staff.

Food excellent. Enough activities and facilities / different rooms and garden to use.

They looked after Dad very well and his family had easy access to him, seemingly whenever we wanted an open door policy.

Many good features - but the best was the staff who create a real community and were unfailingly kind and supportive.

My father has been resident at Beaumont Care Home for a year. He is very well cared for and the staff are excellent. The best thing about Beaumont is the way staff engaged with my dad, they like a joke and seem so caring with him. Communication between the family and Beaumont is very good and they respond to our questions and concerns promptly. Dad's personal care is very good too.

As my wife (the resident), is unable to walk, I appreciate that it must be extremely difficult to provide satisfactory care. However, it seems that she has become isolated in her room. She seems to have lost the use of language and is deteriorating into a vegetable state. The staff I have spoken to assure me that is her "condition" and she "doesn't want to go out".

The rooms are comfortable and adequately furnished, the heating is good though sometimes, requires more ventilation. There is a wide choice of food and drink, but the waiting time is frustrating at meals. The staff are skilled, friendly and kindly, though a bit noisy at times.

Quality care at its best should be more like this. The residents living there are treated with the highest level of dignity and respect. The whole team are very approachable, patient and have empathy and caring attitudes from the cleaners to the general manager.

Well done to everyone who works there, they are spot on with what they do.
