Orchard Lodge Care Home (Nursing)

I have been visiting now since December 2022. Each time I visit, I am blown away, not just by the professionalism of the staff, but by their genuinely kind and caring approach to the residents. It has a lovely atmosphere, is exceptionally clean and well staffed. There is always a staff member present on observation in each of the areas, and it feels like a home from home. I think my uncle is very lucky to have found such an outstanding placement - I speak from experience, having worked for 37 years as an RMN specialising in elderly care. There always have access to food and regular drinks, and there is plenty of activities available to engage the residents. They are very well looked after, and the attention to detail in making sure they are properly cared for, cleaned and presentable. The staff are very approachable and friendly and welcome family with open arms. I'd like to book my own place now!

The staff were brilliant and looked after my wife as good as possible. They also treated us the same and with respect for the situation we were going through.

My mother received end-of-life nursing care at Orchard Lodge. I was impressed with the gentle way she was handled and nursed by the staff. The level of knowledge and expertise about her condition from all the staff was impressive. The room she had was lovely, and all the facilities were clean and in excellent condition. Thank you for making her last weeks as comfortable as possible.

I can not praise the manager and the staff, including the kitchen staff and the lovely lady who does all the activities enough for everything. Their care, love and laughter with Mum during her stay with them until her death on New Year's Eve 2022 will live with me for the rest of my days. Mum loved being there. As a family, we could not have been happier with the care and attention Mum was given. Every time we visited, we were able to have dinner with Mum in the dining room. The meals were lovely. The music playing is so nice. The live bands they have in for the residents to enjoy always went down well. Playing bingo with Mum and some of the others was always such fun. The garden party in the summer was nothing short of amazing, and it was loved and enjoyed by all. The care given to Mum at the end of her life was exactly that care, and it was exactly how it should be. Honestly, thank you doesn't seem enough and doesn't come close to how we feel as a family but thank you, thank you, thank you. Love to you.

An amazing nursing home. Yes, the building is old, but the management and staff are amazing. Myself, other siblings, sisters and friends visited my mum on regular occasions and always found the place and staff very welcoming. Can not fault the place or the staff. Everyone was very well cared for.

My father was in care at Orchard Lodge after a long search for somewhere suitable. As a family, we were really pleased the Management accepted him. He was difficult battling with Alzheimer's since 2015 but nothing was too much trouble for the staff coping with his complex needs including assisting him with his eating. They were all very kind to him and us as a family and he received the best care possible. I was kept informed of anything that was causing concern and it was dealt with professionally. I cannot thank them enough. My dad was happy in his own world because the staff would make a fuss of him and make him laugh. If he wanted a special blanket he could have a special blanket! I would recommend this care home 100% for short or long term residence.

I can't thank the staff of this care home enough. They are all very kind, and looked after my husband so well and are all very good at their job. Nothing is too much trouble. The best care home ever. Thank you, all of you.

To summarise, I would be happy to be a resident myself.

My father went to Orchard Lodge for end of life care. Whilst he was only there for a couple of weeks before passing, I cannot fault the caring attitude of all the staff there. He was so much happier than when he was in hospital. Yes the place is a little tired looking but the nursing care was excellent.

We had concerns as to where our relative may end up for respite care, but our fears were soon overcome after just a few days at Orchard Lodge. Yes, the building and decor are showing signs of wear, but the staff care, warmth and friendliness is very good. The management team are professional, caring and good at communicating. Mother-in-law is happy and well looked after. A lovely homely feeling.

Warm, welcome, clean and comfortable. Mum is very happy here, always commenting on how lovely the staff are. Food is very tasty according to my mum. All contact with the manager is informative, and he has been supportive. He has kept us up to date with progress on my mum.

Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, Orchard Lodge care home has managed to keep the virus at bay and, most importantly, kept my mum safe and comfortable. The staff have endeavoured to enable access as much as possible under these conflicting circumstances and have been as flexible as possible, subject to the safety of those in their care. Staff are always courteous, helpful and friendly. Mum is clearly comfortable, content, well cared for in a loving environment.

My mother has been a resident of Orchard Lodge care home since December 2018. I live in the USA (California) and so I am restricted to visiting Mum just one or two times each year. Orchard Lodge always welcomes me and accommodates me allowing me multiple visiting opportunities each time I visit England. Even with restrictions due to Covid and testing, I was accommodated, even allowing me to visit my Mum on her birthday. I believe the care provided by the staff of Orchard Lodge is the best care available anywhere.

My father has been very well looked after here. The staff know him very well and have taken the time to get to know his interests and likes. They recognise his quirks and tailor their care to this. They have encouraged him to go down to residential areas where possible and enjoy the activities they offer. They also respect his decision not to do this on occasion. Their introduction of memory boxes was a wonderful gesture which meant that they really understood my Dad as a person before he became so poorly. I receive regular communication from the management, with photos of my Father enjoying activities which are very reassuring for me to see. Thank you all for all you do.

Within days of mum entering the home, it was obvious we had made a good choice. We very soon had complete confidence in the staff and could relax in the knowledge she was receiving first-class care.

The care and consideration given to our mum was second to none, I cannot praise the staff enough, each and every one of them.
