It’s such a relief to have my mum at The Windmill Care Centre. I’m not based in the UK so I need to have my mum at a place I can rely on and trust; a place with a high standard of care and Windmill fits that bill. I can tell they care about her and treat her well - they know her quirks and they clearly
treat her like one of their family. My mum is happy there. The staff always have time for my questions. I’m so glad she is there - a compassionate, caring home.

It's a brilliant care home. The manager and staff do a very good job. They look after my friend very well and she is not the easiest person to look after. I think they all do a wonderful job.

Our dad was admitted to The Windmill in very difficult circumstances. The staff went out of their way to reassure us and to help our dad acclimatise. We have found them to be very professional, friendly, caring and compassionate. Nursing staff are hugely committed to preserving the dignity of those
in their care, and admin/management are both efficient and very humane. There is a lovely atmosphere at the home.

Windmill Centre is not somewhere I would recommend to friends or family. The manager is very rude. Some staff are kind however this is based on personal preference.
As a home dealing with patients in challenging situations, you would believe that the staff would be passionate about their role however
unfortunately not. I have been totally shocked at the lack of compassion and care from the home.

We take all of the comments and concerns received regarding the care of the people living with us extremely seriously, as the health and wellbeing of our residents is our absolute priority.
We have investigated your concerns and responded to you and ensured that you have access to our complaints process. Our findings reinforced our belief that our staff work with the best interests of every single one of our residents as their foremost objective. We do, as does every care home in the UK, have to comply with the law and we need to enforce rules around visiting and infection prevention and control. Whilst we understand that these can be frustrating, it is unfortunate that this is perceived as a lack of care and compassion, as the Manager and team have been working very hard in difficult circumstances to ensure that our residents, our visitors and staff are kept safe and to ensure that every resident receives the best possible level of care.

When Mum had to go into care we were unable to choose the care home due to the virus situation. However, we needn't have worried as The Windmill Care home have been amazing in looking after Mum. She has early Alzheimer's so they are very patient with her and always try to keep her interested in what's
going on in the home. We don't have to worry about her now and she seems happy in her new surroundings. The food always looks good, especially the cakes, which Mum loves. I would certainly recommend the home to anybody who has an elderly relative.

I have only visited The Windmill Care Centre twice so not enough visits to form an opinion. However, both times I was met by courteous care staff who explained the procedures in place for visiting during the Covid epidemic. PPE was applied and I was monitored at all times.
The friend I visited was
happy there and joined in various activities. Her room was tidy and clean as were the corridors and lift. Staff attending to my friend were very kind and courteous and had a good rapport with her.

It's a very good home, it has improved since the manager took over.
My only recommendation is the WiFi code should be displayed in the foyer, as staff are too busy to give details and it would save families data, and give access to people who do not have data like elderly relatives.
Also, residents
could be encouraged by staff to use social media ie Facebook, Zoom etc...

My Mum has been in the Windmill for 8 years now and I have seen several different companies running it during that time. Of them all, this is definitely the best. They have invested time and money on making it very homely, refurbishing throughout, and have put together a great team of staff that have
got to know and care for the residents on a more personal level. It is so good for the residents to get to know and get used to the same members of staff, looking after them consistently as opposed to outside agency staff being used which was the case before. The Manager has been a great asset to the home and is very approachable and helpful. The staff on Mum's floor know and care for her very well, I know that she is being looked after and, if there is a problem with my mum, I will get a phone call from a member of staff and that puts my mind at rest. The many planned activities play a big part in the resident's well being, as does the home being kept clean and tidy. Thank you to all staff.

My brother in law has spent over three years at The Windmill. The first two years weren't good, the turnover of staff was enormous, not good for residents or families.
However, over the last year, things improved for the better. My only complaint being management. No communication skills, compassion,
locked away in the office, gives one the impression - do not disturb, not interested.
Walking the floors, stopping for a casual chat with residents or families occasionally works wonders and forms a caring bond.

My husband is very well cared for in this care home. The staff are always welcoming and friendly. I have found that my husband is happier and settled since being in this home. I feel confident about leaving him there, as I know he is well looked after and the staff will call me if there is anything

My Auntie had been in Windmill for the past 2 years within that time the care home change companies, in the last 6 months of her stay were the best, the new company were fantastic they have totally changed the home around. They actually listen to families requests, it was so nice to see her looking
her best.
Sadly Auntie past away but the staff were brilliant right till the end.

My mother has the best of care at the Windmill Care Centre. All the staff are very caring and nothing is ever too much trouble. There is always plenty of staff around and we never have to wait for anything. The Home Manager is very nice and always makes us feel welcome. I can highly recommend this

The Windmill Care Centre really does feel like a home for its residents. My nan loved the entertainment and day trips that were arranged by staff and was always treated with dignity, even on the night she passed away. The staff are always friendly and welcoming to family members and visitors and always

My nan was a resident and passed away at The Windmill. She was happy to have been there. She had lovely staff around her right till the end. The staff have been very good and caring towards our family. We all went to The Windmill after the funeral and again the staff was amazing. I cannot fault anything
they did. I am very grateful to them all.

My name is June Jones i am part of the Lifestyle team at the Windmill Care Home. I have been at the Windmill for almost 3 years. My job is to try and get the residents involved in doing different activities such as games, Arts and Craft ,Baking, types of mind games like crosswords word search and many more things. My job is also to book entertainment for them and also to get them out in the community. We also do 1 to 1s with residents in their rooms if they prefer.


I love the work i do it is always a pleasure to come to work. I get to meet great people all with different stories and challenges and this is what makes my job worth while. I work with a great team and as individuals we bring something different.
