Argyles has an experienced team of registered nurses who provide nursing care, convalescence and palliative care. Those with respite care needs are welcome and the home also cares for those with Parkinson’s.

This well-equipped Tudor-style house provides a comfortable and relaxing environment. Residents can socialise in the main lounge or relax in the quiet lounge as they choose, while the spacious gardens and patio can be enjoyed in warmer weather. All bedrooms have en-suite facilities and can be personalised to suit individual tastes.

Much culinary expertise has gone into making meals balanced and appealing, meeting personal diet needs and favourites. Hot and cold drinks are always available and homemade cake is another popular addition.

Themed monthly events are part of the varied activities calendar, which includes visits from local performers, pampering sessions and excursions.

I was looking for a care home for my Mum which would be homely and friendly. The atmosphere in the Argyles was just right and in fact, I felt that if I had to go into a care home it would be one like this. All staff are caring, friendly and wanting the best experience for the residents.

All the staff we came into contact with are kind and helpful. Some of the residents can be a little challenging, but we have only seen patience and compassion by the staff for them.

Following the sudden death of my mother, I had to arrange emergency respite care for my father who suffers from MND. His condition has rendered him immobile and he has trouble communicating. In conjunction with Social Services, the manager of this care home attended my father's home address at short notice on her way home from work to review my father to ensure they could offer the level of care required. She was friendly, helpful and within two days the placement was made.
Every member of staff I encountered whilst visiting my father was friendly and the staff went out of their way to ensure my father was as comfortable as possible. This gave me peace of mind and the time I needed to make all the arrangements for my mother's funeral. My father is a creature of habit and a tad OCD so at first he found the change in regime a little irksome but did state that if he had to stay in a home he was prepared to stay at the Argyles.

This is an excellent care home in every respect. The standard of care is excellent and the staff are particularly attentive and friendly to both residents and visitors. My wife is welcomed to join in with the many varied and daily activities that are organised for the residents. This means that although she cannot directly participate, she is engaged in the activities that are going on. All the staff are really caring and my wife is always well dressed and looked after. She has a pleasant room which overlooks gardens and is very comfortable. The food is excellent - prepared by a very competent chef and always varied and tasty. The management is of high quality and the manager is relentless in her pursuit of excellence. Staff turnover is very low and the staff all clearly get on with each other and with the residents, leading to a very friendly atmosphere. The staff/resident ratio is clearly high as there is always staff available supporting the residents.

My father moved to BUPA Argyles following a stay in hospital. The staff have always shown him respect and kindness and have taken the time to understand him as an individual. He is treated with care and dignity. He is always clean, well nourished and encouraged to engage in activities to stimulate him; he is very happy there. The staff make sure that I am kept informed of his well being and any issues that cause concern; I feel involved in his care and welcome whenever I visit.

The Argyles Care Home has caused my family severe distress.

I just want to urge anyone who is looking for palliative care to take the time and make sure you are seeking it from the right place for you and your family, even if you need it urgently. The Argyles has many good reviews but it was not suitable for my family and potentially others in similar situations.

Admitted at very short notice, my mum immediately was welcomed with warmth and care by the staff. She is very independent and they performed some procedures that could have been humiliating but were carried out with such grace she never felt a loss of dignity. All the staff genuinely had a personal connection with her. Even though she was there for only 3 weeks. I certainly felt how much they liked being with her and personally would like to thank everyone for making my mums last days full of love, comfort and care xxx

My husband has been in the Argyles for two or three years and has been treated very well in that time.
The staff have been very kind to him and his relatives.
Any minor complaints have been quickly dealt with and my husband seems quite happy.

Absolutely first class, excellent, outstanding care for my mother during the last 3 weeks of her life. With Mum being fiercely independent, we were dreading this move - but the manager and the team have been fantastic throughout, from our first visit to the dignified way her departure has been handled. All the staff (management, nurses, carers, catering, DIY etc) are always smiling and attentive, genuinely very caring. Mum always felt safe, secure and cared for - 'my little haven' as she said. Thank you Argyles - we could not have hoped to have found a better place.

I visit my friends at Argyles Care Home but I also go to the community club.
The lady runs it very well with a good choice of activities and entertainment which are all very enjoyable.
The community club is a lovely and friendly environment and I would recommend visiting to my other friends.
From what I've seen their staff are all wonderful people.
The home is a nice clean place.
Whenever I've been to Argyles everything is immaculate.

The activities coordinator holds a very good afternoon at the Argyles Care Home community club and works very hard to provide different things each month. It is an enjoyable afternoon for all of us. Another activity I attend is the afternoon sing-a-long. It's lovely to get everyone singing and the activities coordinator makes a good job of it.

My nan has been at Argyles Care Home since December 2016. I have nothing but positive things to say about the care that she receives. She is always dressed smartly, clean and happy. The community day is held at Argyles Care Home every month run by the activity lady and others. Members of the public attend as well as residents so it's a great way to socialise and meet new people. Every month there's something different and there's a wide variety of activities available and a raffle every time. It's great fun and I would recommend it to others. The carers at this home are so lovely here too. My room is lovely and a perfect fit for me. The food and drink is also superb.

My father is blind, deaf, immobile, suffers dementia and is doubly incontinent.
The staff at Argyles Care Home are extremely compassionate and are very hardworking.
They treat Dad with so much dignity.
His cognitive health showed great improvement since being here.
Food is beautiful and staff are always available to help him and are very informative to us.

I am very happy that Mum is in the Argyles, the staff are the greatest asset with little staff turnover, which means that the residents don't have to have continued change. The functions and entertainment are excellent and I enjoy going around to take part with Mum. I also have lunch with Mum sometimes and the food is really good and plentiful. Mum has been there almost 3 years following her stroke and she seems very settled now.

I spent a month in this care home for respite care after an operation. The staff were very helpful, caring and professional. The staff often have some very difficult people deal with but they coped admirably, using psychology where necessary. The food was excellent and I began to put on weight! In fact I was quite reluctant to leave. If I ever had to be in a care home permanently I would choose this one.

Job Title: Home Manager

Description:

I chose to work in the healthcare industry following a period of looking after my father who had lung cancer and seeing the amazing support he and my family received from McMillan and District Nurses.

I qualified to become a Registered General Nurse nearly 10 years ago; starting in orthopaedics for the NHS. I quickly felt that this restricted me from seeing the whole, bigger, picture and I took the decision to work in a care home environment which I loved, and still do to this day, as you not only see the resident but their families too, which allows you the opportunity to get to know that resident so much more.

I joined the Argyles in September 2015 as their Deputy Manager, after gaining experience as a sister of a dementia unit, and I was recently given the opportunity to become the Home Manager. This is a position that I am thoroughly enjoying, including the challenges that it brings, whilst providing me the skills to fully support my team in providing good, high quality care that every resident expects and deserves.

I have been working for Bupa over the last five years in various positions and locations. I spent most of my career working with young people and adults with learning difficulties and mental health issues. This experience provided me with a vast knowledge of person centred care and also gave me the skills to provide and promote the highest level of care and wellbeing for the residents that we look after.
When I felt that it was time for a change I started looking for a career where I could use my skills in a different way. What really attracted me to the Argyles is the warm and welcoming homely atmosphere and the genuine affection the staff have for the residents they care for.
